  1. I decided the best way to enjoy this show is to figure out who gets the idiot ball in each episode. Congrats Michael, you're this week's winner! You have a little daughter for whom you presumably care a lot about yet you invite the guy who just told you that killed around 35 people (and you were present for some of those killings) back in your life. Runner-up is Helen who never wondered why a CIA agent would turn within three minutes and never opened that damn envelope Reed gave her.
  2. I was intrigued by Doctor Grace's approach to Lily. TV standard is going to fish for repressed memories, her insistence that that could cause false memories was quite refreshing because the controversy surrounding the issue barely makes it into tv. I also liked how she separated Mum from Lily and respected Parker's wish to keep whatever had happened with his mother to be shelved for the time being. Her suggestions for Parker to ignore the past and deal with the present moment when Lily appears sounds as if she's practicing gestalt therapy. As for the car murders - that was really cold-blooded and I would like to say far-fetched but that might be naive. I enjoyed the other agencies having a field day with the BOLO. And I'm with Parker - stop the elevator abuse!
  3. Helen simply calling the baddies without any precautions was beyond stupid. I enjoyed the bit of Tarantino in the car with the three assassins and the backstory of Sam and Helen's friendship. Despite all the annoying flashbacks to their respective twu luvs these two are show's OTP. Sam's first wet job being his Dad was soo cliché it almost hurt. The acting in this show is top-notch and what keeps me watching, too bad the writing is not of the same quality.
  4. Well, we got an explanation why Sam knew the names of the two killers from the first episode. And it definitely sounds as if Daisy/Helen let her stepsister take the fall for her stepfather's murder. So far so good. The warehouse scene was eerie but the coincidences in this show are really getting a tad much. So the guy Sam failed to kill has Kai-Ming, while Wallace's colleague seems to be on the mysterious video. The micro that was able to pick up one single conversation in a pub full of people was ridiculous and completely unnecessary. Helen could have waited for her hubby outside the pub under some pretense, and have him bugged while giving him a hug. Her entering the pub in her Carmen Sandiego getup - without knowing if he was already in there - and risking some of his co-workers recognizing her was stupid. It was just done to give us another scene of Helen pining over her lost love - and those are already the show's weak spot. We know she loved him, the bullet to his killer's head made the point better than all those Chiaroscuro flashbacks.
  5. What about her fingerprints in Jason's rooms amidst a murder scene? Was there a clean-up I missed? And how did Sam know where to find her in the first place? And Sam was out of town for seven years yet still knew the two assassins names. I'm intrigued but not entirely sold. And while I'm interested in the Sam and Helen's backstory I could do with less mopey flashbacks . Helen was in love with Jason, we get it. And I guess Michael somehow figured out that Sam was not in insurances. I'd rather know why Sam is so fiercely loyal to Helen.
  6. Late to the party and most things have already been said, so I'm just going to add how much I loved the Christmas Sweaters with Lady Justice in Santa get-up!
  7. And how come weeks of dumping trash into said abyss never hit anything but one cello case did?
  8. I'm still not sure how you can turn a project to develop an atomic ICBM into a hoover but props for being quirky 😁I actually think it would a cool idea for a mini series going into detail how to pull that off with enough crazy characters to make it work. The soccer thing was weird, but I enjoyed yet another appearance of the elevator that just won't get a break (by brake abuse).
  9. I like the backdoor pilot for The Night Movers! Yeah, I prefer more rustic scenery but this had an interesting twist. Although I'm not sure why Lucas did not contact the FBI in the first place instead of running to a Youtuber - kids these day! So, we got the Big Bad Wolf err.. Whale. He does sound a bit like Daddy dearest, so Colter might be able to exorcise some demons in bringing him down. Call Dory back!
  10. I don't think she wanted to kill her grandchild, rather take her under her wings and groom the girl to be heiress to her evil throne. I enjoyed it - even though the plot of agent needing to protect annoying target isn't my favorite. It helped that they didn't string out the antagonism for too long. And I'm always happy to see Katrina Law showing off her martial arts chops. Evil grandma walking off might be a stretch but I'm in a generous mood today.
  11. Colter and Velma are finally meeting, and within 5 seconds the sweet scene turns into product placement LOL! Man, this one requires a lot of hand waving. I mean after the way Colter was brushed off by the cop I could understand why he did not fill him in on the gaming camera. But the rest was pretty iffy and as usual we don't see any of the legal aftermath. I know it would be boring but given the amount of hairy situations Colter lands himself in I wonder why Reenie even bothers to land other clients. I have no idea how Barclay managed to find the statues. I assumed he he was trained to find landmines, i.e. he was trained to detect the scent of chemicals. Benin bronze statues *props for not going down the well trodden path with those artifacts* don't have that scent. If he was a guard dog simply* going for Miller's scent attached to the statues he's one of a kind. Scent trails last for a couple of days at best. Not to mention that the statues were buried. *It's not simple and contrary to what's shown on tv dogs need to be especially trained for that too. But the scenery was great as usual.
  12. I agree that we don't know enough about Ellie to make any judgement about her or Matty and her husband. In my opinion Matty's worst 'sin' is that she robs her grandson of his childhood. And I'm not just talking about using him as tech support but the way she's feeding his obsession to get revenge for his Mom's death. No matter how justified that may be, it's not healthy for a kid of his age to peruse Reddit *shudders*, help putting up evidence boards, and talk everyday about the 'case'. Even when Alfie is not directly involved his mother's death is always a topic. It's clear that this has become his coping mechanism and it's not a healthy one. Did Alfie research Reddit on his own or was he inspired to do so by something he overheard? Regardless, his grandparents should have found better ways for him to find closure. Still wondering about Alfie's Dad.
  13. I'm really glad I'm not the only one who was upset about David's gingerbread village plot. I hated that story line so much that the predictable rest of the episode just went 'meh'. Which is a shame because I have to admit the caper plot was great. This is the second time in a row that the show makes fun of someone who does something nerdy out of love, than has it destroyed for cheap laughs. And to add injury to insult we got incredible food-waste. There was a toddler in neighboring apartment who might have enjoyed one of those houses and they could have donated the rest. I know it's all in the name of comedy but when comedy resorts to making characters look mean or stupid (or both) it just doesn't work for me anymore. And it's not the first time David was settled with such a plot. I really hope they change course for his character next season. #Justice for dollhouses #Justice for gingerbread villages #Justice for David (And on a more serious note - that must have been a heartbreaking episode for Lyndhurst to play. I had no idea about his personal life.)
  14. Quirky lab person/computer nerd has become a staple of the franchise (not sure about Origins but I would not be surprised if that show also featured an iteration). I find Kasie a lot less grating than Abby in later seasons.
  15. This was directed by Jennifer Morrison. I had hoped she would make an appearance one day as I was a big fan of the chemistry between her and Hartley in 'This Is Us'. But show seems to be set for Reenie as Colter's main love interest. Not complaining as I think Morrison did a pretty good job in the director's chair. I repeat what I said last week: Hartley looks great surrounded by mossy greens and browns. But he was outplayed by the landscape, that waterfall was fantastic (and probably a nightmare for setting up shots). No complaints either. The plot had enough twists to keep me entertained, and Sexton was a great addition. I do hope he shows up again because he provides a foil for Colter in a manner that characters belonging to the case of the week can't. That has always been my main gripe about the show. I've come to accept that Velma and Bobby will never get more than some brief moments at best (and maybe one special episode per season) since they can't be out in the field with Colter. Russell will not show up more than once or twice per season, so adding another character to fill in that gap seems like a good idea. This is one of those shows where it feels like the writers sat down after season one and compared notes about what was working and what needs to change going ahead. Always appreciated.
  16. I think that was because she had created the protocol for Parker to deal with the suspect's dementia/time travel hallucination.
  17. The overall theme of this episode for me was 'fallout'. There was so much of that starting with the glimpses of the breakdown of Olympia and Julian's marriage. He wasn't there for her when her father died (whose last voice message she lost as a fallout of Matty's ploy). Their marital problems caused them to make bad decisions with their case - the verdict was the fallout. There were many more instances (the cast of the worker and his guilt, Matty's panic attack etc.) but the one that I found particularly haunting was how Matty treated Edwin, her old friend, because she had to prioritize her quest for revenge over his desperation. If I got their conversation right, his son had been a friend of Matty's daughter and was relapsing. Matty cutting their conversation - where she was counseling him on finding the son - could very well end with him not being able to save his son. Sure, that's almost on a butterfly-causing-a-tornado-level of arguing but so much in this episode was actually on that very level. Edwin and his son actually reminded me of something: where is Alfie's father? ? I don't think it's the son. But I'm intrigued that I can't remember Dad ever being mentioned.
  18. I felt a bit conflicted about this scene. It was sweet but Mattie was basically telling Alfie that his mother and great grandmother had a genetic disposition for addiction. Which is somehow not that comforting when you're at the end of that genetic line. I was waiting for him to ask questions about what that means for him but those would have ruined the mood I guess.
  19. According to tunefind.com the cover was by Lola Colette.
  20. Ha, finally! I knew one day me learning to count to three in Finnish would pay off! That was a fun episode. I liked the slight of hand with the CIA guy. Knight really rocked that 70s look. But my favorite part was the callback to Torres the spreadsheet prodigy LOL!
  21. I really wish writers would drop the whole 'nerds and their funny allergies' shtick. It stopped being funny in the early 90s - if it ever was funny to begin with. This was an odd episode, it had great lines and great acting. But I just couldn't help feeling annoyed by all of them behaving like jerks. Olivia had put so much thought and effort into the party and they couldn't even pretend to have fun. And who doesn't love a murder mystery party? Especially if your plan B consists of watching a dog dancing show. Which isn't something to feel ashamed of unless you're being a snob about murder mystery parties. Also that doll house must have cost a small fortune and jerk professor should have been made to pay. But then I love Dorothy L. Sayers and just watched Lord Peter Wimsey on Youtube - so what do I know...
  22. Well, not a shoulder/upper arm injury this time. But still strategically enough to get Colter out of his shirt. Still waiting for a knee or hip injury 😁 He's probably related to Hawaii Five-0's McGarrett who had similar Wolverine like healing powers. Is it just me or have they ramped up the landscape porn this season? Hartley looked particularly good in that autumnal forest light. As long as the supernatural is contained within the particular context of an episode and kept to a minimum I don't mind. Given the autumn setting and the witchy vibes I wonder if this was supposed to be the Halloween episode. I was a bit upset that the kids just left 5000 Dollars on a fence post. But they probably trusted that nobody was gone steal from the er... gingerbread house. As for the money and Colter's expenses (apart from medical bills) I never understood how team tracker is organized financially. Were Velma and Teddi employees of Colter or were they just getting a cut of his rewards? And if so, had they other incomes? Same goes for Bobby. And is Velma now working for Reenie and is scouting jobs for Colter as a side-hustle? So many questions, better just stare at the pretty landscapes.
  23. I think they did a really great job with Olympia those past couple of episodes. And I appreciate how much thought they put into the trauma Matty and her husband went through and are still struggling with. There's definitely guilt and self-recrimination bubbling underneath their crusade. Less serious: I loved the MI inspired musical grace note when Matty pulled out the phone with the print, lovely attention to detail.
  24. I also have conflicting feelings about Mattie and her manipulations. But that's what I find intriguing about the show. We can sympathize with her pain (the first scene of her overreacting to her grandson's disappearance did a lot of heavy lifting in that regard) but we're not supposed to applaud her actions - at least not all of them. This episode actually caused me tow wonder if getting the big bad wolf is really the main story line here. If Mattie succeeds the fallout on a human level will be rather epic and probably deliver drama for at least another season. And after that (provided the show has such long legs) we might end up with a more standard legal drama after the dust has settled.
  25. Extremely late to the party but I came here for the mystery of the missing bunny ear. That's not a continuity error, those don't get close-ups. I'm sure it Mattie lost it during some nefarious shenanigans of hers that we will see in a flashback. As for the show playing fast and loose with legal procedures. I'm a historian and I've watched plenty of shows with 'historians' who did not look older than 25 deciphering old Tibetan in one episode and in the next episode identifying Sumerian pottery and in the episode after that giving an impromptu lecture on the origins of Freemasonry.
