  1. This was a fun episode but I'm not sure I can concur about the Doc and Parker. The track record for love interests/partners/spouses on this show is so atrocious I feel compelled to warn her off. I once saw a surgeon who had managed to mangle one of his fingers while skiing (nothing serious as it turned out), guy had a major meltdown. Doc Clara was surprisingly chipper despite her broken wrist. But maybe that was the pain meds, Parker's character or her just being badass.
  2. I'm not exactly into creepy episodes but this one was quite entertaining. Colter not being fazed by any of the supernatural shenanigans without getting judgy was a nice touch. I liked Det. Brock whose attitude was not the stereotypical 'Get out of my jurisdiction!' nonsense. Also a plus: they did not cast a 20-something for the part and gave her a really good backstory. She had a great rapport with Coulter. I had assumed that Coulter had phoned creepy sister and announced his visit (without giving her too much time to prepare) but maybe that's just hand waving. And as usual the victim seems right as rain after having been found. There was some lip service for her needing time to recover. Realistically Dad would be in desperate need of money for therapy - I expected Coulter to accept a reduced reward. But that GMC truck looks like it's guzzling gas. Given the episode's setting my mind wandered immediately to this Bobby 😄 I can't help but wonder about all the derelict asylums in the US - seems every town has one. Or maybe I'm watching too much TV.
  3. Lucy's absence might be caused by her having to work on the set of 'The Chosen'.
  4. I can buy her letting him live as he taunted her with knowledge about her biological mother. But the last scene definitely requires more context. Whose ship is that? And how did she manage to get him there? How did she get the resources for the journey? And instead of staring heroically at the horizon shouldn't she try to learn some English?
  5. She was probably working on 'The Chosen'.
  6. I know Nick Mohammed from Ted Lasso - but that's about it. It's always fun to figure out in which branch of the Taskmaster taxonomy new contestants belong: bat-shit crazy, bosh lady/gent, lateral genius etc.
  7. Prime Cat's Log, 7th life, day 2259 Underlings still on cookie cutter quest. Suddenly realized time going wonky. Underlings tendency to talk gobbledygook increases dramatically when faced with time-travel shenanigans. Decided to spare myself the ennui and take a nap until they've figured it out. Time's back to normal. Wonkyness apparently caused by tiny spider-like creature. None of this would have happened had underlings installed security protocols to vaporize on sight anything with more than four legs inside hull. Not sure why said security protocol has not been installed as underlings love to watch gruesome tales about all kinds of creatures with more than four legs eviscerating them on a regular basis. Time-travel shenanigans obviously been used by *sigh* first underling's mate to brainwash new underling of the red pride. Too bad - I liked him. Mischievous kitten still on the run.
  8. I was so proud of having figured out the A-plot early on that I got blindsided by the B-plot. It took me ages to figure out mystery lady was Tenant's bio Mum issues finally bubbling up in the form of a concussion induced hallucination. I've been waiting for that to happen ever since disappearing mum was mentioned for the first time yet did not see it coming here - despite the show bringing up Tenant's surrogate Mum issues earlier on. Well played show, well played. Also: good work by Daniela Ruah. Fitting episode for some subtle Gibbs call-backs. And I enjoyed Sam and Whistler working together - that was a dynamic we hadn't seen before. Did we get an in-world reason for Lucy's absence? Nice bit of continuity with the shoes in the last scene. Landscape shots were truly stunning, but there were some brutal, disorienting cuts between jungle and volcanic environments. Yeah, I thought about that too. But since the shows live in the same universe (just ignore Katrina Law's characters) I hope they'll go in a different direction. Also: Tennant already has a shady spook Mum in Maggie.
  9. Neat callbacks and solid episode with some weak points. Added to the ones already listed: veterinary assistant becomes sniper in three months. And shout-out to the poster who predicted Curtis would get a more significant part soon. While adult Jared did not look one bit like kid Jared he looked a lot like mum. Good casting.
  10. No, Reynar is Ahab chasing Moll. Booker is searching for Moll like Michael Dawson in Lost was searching for his son Walt. People became increasingly annoyed with the character, and he became a meme, there was even a website devoted to his screams for Waaalt! Reynar and Booker both look for Moll, one with the intention of finally putting her in prison or worse while Booker's intentions are clearly benevolent. Hence the conflict. Also: we know why this is so important for Booker. I suppose we will get around to see a flashback explaining Reynar's obsession. It's very likely Moll and L'ak killed or are responsible for the death of someone he loved.
  11. Discovery being free from the problem of retconning made me excited - until the first big arc in the future revolved about a tsunami of alien teenage angst. Last season wasn't much better. The writers rely way too much on mystery box writing with Burnham as the linchpin for all drama. The blueprint for this season is already visible: Rayner is pulling an Ahab with Moll (and La'ak). Meanwhile Booker is slowly turning into Lost's Michael. Sooner or later Burnham will have to make an 'agonizing' choice between her boyfriend and her number one 🙄 The only interesting arc might be due to the Vulcan Purists who are currently holding Chekhov's gun status. (This is the final season otherwise I would bet some good money that T'Rina won't survive her wedding for long so that Saru can return to Discovery.)
  12. Prime Cat's Log, 7th life, day 2258 Underlings still cookie cutter hunting. Grumpy new underling of red pride arrives. Made effort to learn something called ‘human idioms’, gets accused of not trying to connect with crew. Asked voice in hull for explanation of 'human idioms' and if any of the other underlings made effort to use Kellun idioms - nope. Worst offense of new underling of red pride so far: not offering chips to favorite underling of yellow pride. Though not sure favorite underling of yellow pride deserves chips – got mushy over underling kitten’s love life. Showed at least some self-awareness about sounding woo-woo. First underling and *sigh* mate continue tiring, mopey mating ritual and go on side quest. Being connected to first underling’s mind is helpful for getting kibble on time – downside is seeing idiotic behavior on missions. Sure, healer underling – who is not just responsible for broken paws but also broken minds – should be volunteering for a weird Trill experiment. Not one of the Trills present or the underling kitten who already had experience with a Trill living in their mind. What could possibly go wrong? First underling and *sigh* mate go on a hike with clearly unhinged Trill body-snatcher who gives dodgy answers while leading them into unknown and dangerous territory. He’s testing them like a character in stories - called fairy tales I think - beloved by underling kittens. Yet first underling and *sigh* mate both act surprised and confused, clearly minds befuddled by tiring, mopey mating ritual. Stakes aren’t high – who needs additional security for a simple walk into the territory of ferocious predators? There we go – pissed off giant moths do what you expect giant pissed off moths to do. Of course, first underling gets injured by trying to save *sigh* mate. Something called ‘basic xenoanthropology’ allows *sigh* mate to figure out pissed off moths will respond well to rational arguments. Strangely enough ‘basic xenoanthropology’ has so far failed to make her understand feline nature. Further proof – as if any was needed – of feline superiority. But I digress. Meanwhile grumpy new underling of red pride keeps trailing supposedly dangerous lost kitten and her mate, warning that they are about to catch up – nobody cares because ‘bonding’ is more important.
  13. Rayner is here to be the (idiot) foil for Burnham. He will sooner or later die a heroic death, so that Saru can return.
  14. Prime Cat's Log, 7th life, day 2257 First underling brought me back to former mate's shiny abode. I thought we were done with this. Former mate immediately insults my intelligence with stupid toy. One day she will pay for her insolence. First underling and 'former' mate start tiring, mopey mating ritual. There goes my hope of her remaining former mate. Where is favorite underling of the yellow pride? Nothing has changed here - underlings still way too busy talking about 'feelings' and tending to poisonous plants. Now first underling is getting even more mopey about long lost kitten from his prior pride. Kitten seems to be doing fine - not sure what the fuss is about. Underlings brooding over something looking like a cookie-cutter. Why are there no cookies on this ship? Apparently we're now on a quest to fetch missing cookie cutter pieces. New underling of red pride has arrived - delightedly grumpy, first good thing to happen since arrival.
  15. Yeah, I fear for him or T'Rina!
  16. Damn, the put my Queen in the box! And I was so looking forward to writing reading her diary!!! Never noticed how much Callum Keith Rennie looks like Daniel Craig - or is it just me? I know I'm watching ST Discovery when I catch myself rooting for the villains. Moll and La'ak get bonus points for getting rid of yet another Dr. Soong remnant. But I guess Stamets and Culber will manage to bring him back *sigh* Burnham must have gotten a character replacement over the break - or the writers room spent a lot of time watching Marvel movies. The quip quotient was over the top for the first 20 minutes at least. Saru and T'Rina for the win! And tipsy Tilly!
  17. Watched the first episode and I'm not sold. The mix between fantasy and realism did not gel for me. And neither did some of the character interactions.
  18. She knows that nothing bad is going to happen to her with Sam Hannah at the helm! Speaking of Sam: nice bit of flirting with ME Chase, sorry @Snazzy Daisy. I kinda liked Lucy and Jesse's Post-Its. (I also liked Ernie calling out Jesse for the whole 'handsome' thing).
  19. Delilah is crazy, McGee (and Sean Murray) looks so much better with the goatee. This is the Riker-effect all over again! Good episode - AI creator was a good actor. I loved cranky gran. And now I think it's time to re-watch Person of Interest.
  20. I've read somewhere that it was done that way to deal with the issue of Aang claiming that he had never killed anyone - which some considered a plot hole in the cartoon. But not sure that theory holds. We'll have to see if live action Aang even claims such a thing - and if he does I'll have to go back to the Blue Spirit episode and check if he cushioned the fall of all those Fire nation soldiers he sent over the parapets.
  21. Loved seeing Ventress again. Not particularly in love with another character hemming and hawing about the Force and someone being Force sensitive or not.
  22. For a Lucy-centered episode that was okay. I always wondered about her family because we got occasional hints. Trope-heavy but could provide some good story material. I guess one of the brothers will show up sooner or later. As for Kai's girlfriend: It was a bit weird that the team would think he had made her up. I don't mind LL Cool J though I have no idea what they plan with his character in the long run. Another spin-off?
  23. Yeah, but those are not the same dogs as dogs trained for illegal substances. Unless we're talking about Five-0s Eddie who was the greatest canine multi-tasker since Lassie. Also: having plant based allergies that bad should disqualify you from dog handling. Dogs in customs spend a lot of time sniffing produce as watching too many episodes of Border Patrol has taught me. We'll have to hand wave this scene as Boom Boom borrowing a dog - cheaper than hire another actor. Speaking of economizing - I loved how the other customers at the bar did not bat an eye when the tall blonde woman pulled a gun and pointed it the supposedly much beloved regular. Will we get a big wedding by the end of the season?
  24. Thanks! I knew there had been a plot about those uniforms in the cartoon but I couldn't remember the exact details. I love this little grace notes!
  25. This was fine - but if you take inspiration from Point Break I really want to see a crazy chase through backyards, kitchens, and living rooms. Whistler and Kai have good platonic chemistry. I always enjoy Whistler's moments of unexpected enthusiasm - heists are fun LOL! Tenant crashing into Sam's seminar guns blazing (figuratively) and then trying to backtrack with some dignity was also quite good.
