S01.E14: A Sportsbook and A Breakup
MollyMelrose replied to chitowngirl's topic in Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage
Criminal activity aside, I thought Meemaw's most egregious behavior in this episode was trying to use George's memory to get info on the football team from Coach Wilkins. -

Lackluster episode one week. The next week, it's Meemaw and Dale to the rescue. -

Maybe an episode with Connor interacting with the guy at the tire store who really needs more than a line or two every third episode. Mandy claims to be a journalist. Right ... -
S01.E11: Working for the Enemy
MollyMelrose replied to chitowngirl's topic in Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage
Did like that Georgie was less than perfect in this episode. Seemed much more like a real person ... and much less like Goober Pyle. -
Thought this was a solid episode centered on family dynamics, both good and bad. Saw how the show maybe could stand on its own without the Coopet Support Crew. But then next week's preview and Mary will be making an appearance. And we'll be back thinking about what this show could have been, instead of what it is.

S01.E08: Diet Crap
MollyMelrose replied to chitowngirl's topic in Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage
Never would have guessed Young Sheldon Mandy had a college degree. Thought her "weather girl" qualifications were a) physical appearance; b) tight-fitting clothing; and c) dating the boss. And when C ended, so did the job. A college degree does not magically enhance a piss-poor attitude or questionable work ethic. -

My inner Sheldon compels me to say: "Soft Kitty is for when you are sick. CC is not sick. You should not sing her Soft Kitty." -

Come on, CBS. Do it! Christmas Karaoke, live from Medford. Dale and MB (Mandy's Brother). Guitar. Accordion. And Turkey. A holiday classic in the making. -
S01.E04: Todd’s Mom
MollyMelrose replied to chitowngirl's topic in Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage
Nailed it!! Audrey was Connie-like in that conversation, speaking truth with snark, delighting in her daughter's "uncomfortabilty." Mandy loves Georgie, no doubt, but deep down, she is also dealing with feelings of embarrassment that a series of questionable decisions on her part have led to the situation she finds herself in - a 30 year old woman married to a teenager. And Audrey's not gonna let her ignore/deny it. -

S01.E02: Some New York Nonsense
MollyMelrose replied to chitowngirl's topic in Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage
Yep. The audience is there for the Coopers, not the McAllisters. In a weird way, it was good to see Georgie finally beginning to crack. The responsibilities of parenthood/marriage, grieving his dad, supporting his family, comparing his life to most 18 year old Texas guys ... any one of those things is A LOT to take on. But all together. YIPES!! George's truck. Sigh ... -
Thought Melissa Peterman's character was toned down enough not to give off complete Barbara Jean vibes, but the Bobbie character even dressed like Reba Hart - like they shared the same closet. Thought it was entertaining enough, especially for Friday night vapid viewing. Mostly I spent the 30 minutes wishing RM, MP, and RL were still part of the Young Sheldon universe and that that sequel focused on the talent trove found in their middle aged/geezer contingent.

S01.E01: The 6:10 to Lubbock
MollyMelrose replied to SoMuchTV's topic in Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage
Didn't expect much. Expectations met. The Georgie-Jim exchange made it worthwhile TV, but there's gonna be a problem when viewers tune in hoping to see who isn't part of the regular cast more than who is. Admit to bias. Not a Mandy fan. Think she's a younger version of her mother. Not gonna watch Georgie's spirit be crushed by her. Think they'd have been better served to have kept the regular cast, changed the show's name to The Coopers, and found a way to add George to the cast of Ghosts.- 77 replies

Was it just me or did it seem like Joss was holding Kristina face-first in the water for several moments? (I was counting and got to at least 5-Mississippi.) Get the idea of stabilizing a potential spinal injury - but by drowning? And Gio's face watching the The Fall ... the very definition of unintentional comedy gold. This was supposed to be high drama, not funny - right?

When Calls The Heart - General Discussion
MollyMelrose replied to maraleia's topic in When Calls The Heart
If they really wanted to shake things up, Fiona would have returned to Hope Valley proclaiming her everlasting love for Faith and the two of them start some serious canoodling. Now that would have been entertaining. (It also would have broken the internet.) And while I know this show will never give such nice things, how great would it be for Jack to turn up alive, tell Elizabeth to pound sand, and begin a manly bromance with Governor Bouchard. That would be a season worth watching. -

Glenn Miller and friends performing in Hope Valley over a decade before his band officially began. Who knew?? -
Been a while since anyone's posted here, but thought fans might be interested in what George Tucker's been up to lately. 🙂

Given Amy's affinity for Little House, Laura could be a possibility. (And though it might take a long while, Amy would eventually coerce Sheldon into calling the kid Half Pint.)

Thought the Funeral episode was fantastic. A heartfelt, genuine, often gut wrenching, tribute to George Senior. In the midst of all the grief and sadness, a few moments of levity: The casserole brigade at the beginning of the episode. The well-meaning, "I made you a casserole," followed by Peg's, "I bought you a casserole." Brenda and Science Teacher Guy And poor Coach Wayne, only able to communicate through the language of blubber. The principal translating for him kinda reminded me of June Cleaver's Airplane, "I speak jive." Sheldon reliving the last moments he spent with his dad ... Georgie trying so hard to honor his dad by stepping up for the family ... Missy's Red Lobster memories ... Connie's eulogy ... beautifully done. Sheldon and the scuba suit baptism pretty much made the Memoirs episode, along with the call back to the first episode, "I believe in you." And "The Walk of LIfe." Loved spending time with Sheldon and Amy. (Though it made me miss the rest of the gang more.) So happy to learn that Leonard Cooper is something of a jock. Grandpa Cooper would be so pleased. Shamy's daughter probably was given Penny's maiden name ... so we'll never know what it is. 🙂 Sad this show has ended, but so grateful to its creators, writers, and actors who made it so special. And thanks to TBS, will be having breakfast with the Coopers again tomorrow morning. Don't want to miss it!!
