  1. Thought the Funeral episode was fantastic. A heartfelt, genuine, often gut wrenching, tribute to George Senior. In the midst of all the grief and sadness, a few moments of levity: The casserole brigade at the beginning of the episode. The well-meaning, "I made you a casserole," followed by Peg's, "I bought you a casserole." Brenda and Science Teacher Guy And poor Coach Wayne, only able to communicate through the language of blubber. The principal translating for him kinda reminded me of June Cleaver's Airplane, "I speak jive." Sheldon reliving the last moments he spent with his dad ... Georgie trying so hard to honor his dad by stepping up for the family ... Missy's Red Lobster memories ... Connie's eulogy ... beautifully done. Sheldon and the scuba suit baptism pretty much made the Memoirs episode, along with the call back to the first episode, "I believe in you." And "The Walk of LIfe." Loved spending time with Sheldon and Amy. (Though it made me miss the rest of the gang more.) So happy to learn that Leonard Cooper is something of a jock. Grandpa Cooper would be so pleased. Shamy's daughter probably was given Penny's maiden name ... so we'll never know what it is. πŸ™‚ Sad this show has ended, but so grateful to its creators, writers, and actors who made it so special. And thanks to TBS, will be having breakfast with the Coopers again tomorrow morning. Don't want to miss it!!
  2. This episode gave us Big Bang Mary at her best and Big Bang Sheldon at his worst. Dr. Sturgis and Dr. Linkletter were a hoot. Sheldon's teaching methods, dummkopf. Everybody keeping a Countdown to Cal Tech calendar. A chance to see Tam, Library Lady, and Science Teacher Guy one final time. RIP, George Cooper. You were loved and you will be deeply missed. And you will hold a place of honor as one of the best TV dads ever.
  3. In a place where things are pretty much All Girl Power, All The Time (NTTAWRT), it was kinda nice to see the Hope Valley Council of Competent Fellows (and Mike) get together to do some planning and plotting of their own. And would it have been so hard for Elizabeth to return the sentiment when Lucas wished her the best in all future romantic endeavors?
  4. Big Bang Mary and her take no crap attitude was definitely in the house tonight. Meemaw richly deserved it. Where has Georgie's personality gone? Being a stand up guy doesn't mean he should turn into a pod person. It's like he's 18 going on 45. Wouldn't be surprised to see him ditch the jeans and break out the polyesters in the near future. AMBER Alert for Missy Cooper!!!
  5. Poor Lucas. Survives an unknown assailant's assassination attempt on his body only to face an even bigger assassination attempt on his character by the show runner and writers.
  6. Paging Howard Wolowitz!! New information regarding Sheldon Cooper's initial grad school choice has come to light, information that you would find highly interesting. (Leading a person to speculate that adult Sheldon's distain for MIT was, in reality, his way of squashing any lingering regrets about going to his "fallback" school, Cal Tech.) The My Fair Georgie plot was great fun proving that, in small doses, the Cooper Jr. Family can be entertaining. Small doses, Powers that Be. Small doses. And way to go, Dr. Sturgess and Dr. Linkletter. A toast to your integrity! πŸ₯‚
  7. Curse you, Governor Bouchard, for bringing The Groundhog Menace to Hope Valley!
  8. That snake deserved a place in the credits.
  9. The expressions on the faces of Elizabeth and Nathan when they discovered the true identity of the jolly good fellow ... worth the price of admission. :)
  10. Not really any belly laughs, but constant snickering throughout this episode: Anything to do with spaghetti. Anything Dale said and/or sang. George and Jim Even Mary and Audrey with the hostile spaghetti/bread invite Walter Mondale But one big question. One shameful family secret after another being revealed and Sheldon seemingly so out of the loop. Like he isn't privy to the Queen Mother of Dirty Laundry - his father's dalliance with that blonde German tart. And, didn't he pull a similar joke on Missy several seasons ago, getting her to dig in Meemaw's yard?
  11. Ratings for the first episode indicate that screwing over a significant portion of the fanbase wasn't a great idea.
  12. Hope Valley Snark season is upon us!! Elizabeth does, in fact, get her hair cut. She also rushes to the bedside of the man she recently dumped. In spite of that, Lucas makes a speedy recovery, and is soon doing noble governor-ly things. Lucas' shooter is arrested .... or was he? Bill is on a mission to uncover the truth. With Rosemary's help. Heaven help him. Faith's failure to diagnose an older woman's heart condition may result in her becoming an insta-mom. Fiona is now a suffragette ... in Nashville. Why not? Mei is stressed by her workload of TWO clients. Nathan continues his search for bad guys and a personality. Which he had a while back. But will have to conform to Elizabeth's dictates in the future.
  13. One more thing ... Got a case of the sads when Jim (that's Mandy's dad's name πŸ˜€) mentioned something to the effect that the only thing he cared about was having the chance to walk her down the aisle. 'Cause George and Missy will never have that chance ...
  14. "When you say hurtful stuff like that you sound a little like your mother." Oh, Georgie. Nailed it. The kid is trying so hard to be a stand-up guy, looking for the good in people and the situation he finds himself in. But, Mandy IS just like her mother ... which is why this relationship is doomed, and why the spinoff seems so unappealing to me. Now, a season or two of not-dead George, Dale, and Mandy's dad (whose name I can never remember) swilling beer and commenting on the world around them could be loads of fun. Or the Geezer Bus from several seasons ago ... But nobody asked me, doggone it. πŸ™‚
  15. Not a big Mandy fan, but think she had the line of the night explaining that the only underaged person she'll buy booze for is the underaged father of her baby. Guess Mary was smart enough not to let their tax guy know that there was an $800 error in their favor on their taxes. 'Cuz you know Sheldon would have argued every penny back to the IRS. (Wonder if Mary even told George?) Eye patch Mary!!! πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£
  16. Big Bang Mary's personality emerged in a big way this episode. Instead of coddling Sheldon, nice to see her throwing a few zingers his way. Sheldon obviously gained not one whit of humility from his experiences in Germany. Delighted to learn that Helga is "the other woman."
  17. For someone with an eidetic memory, Adult Sheldon sure glossed over the most interesting parts of his first stay in Germany. The George - Mary letter exchanges were lovely. After hearing the genuine love expressed in Mary's last letter, though, had a sudden moment of panic when the phone rang in her apartment. "Oh no! Not now!" I thought. Of course, Sheldon's knock on the door and entry into wherever in next week's previews kinda left me with a similar feeling of unease.
  18. What a delight it would be to watch Leonard, Penny, Raj, Howard, Bernadette, Stuart, Kripke, and Leslie Winkle watch this episode together. Right up there with The Slap for pure viewing enjoyment. George and Mandy's dad are not the most enlightened duo, but I'd love to go grocery shopping with them again.
  19. Missy morphing into Mary ... who'da thunk it? Even more amazing, though, was Young(ish) Sheldon almost physically morphing into Big Bang Sheldon. Amazing! Think I love Dale. Not sure that's something to be proud of. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚
  20. Watching it on FreeVee now.
  21. "My mother's dead." 🎢Fa la la la la la la la la🎢 Who decided cheery holiday music should follow that bombshell?
  22. The school kids were mad at Lucas because Elizabeth dumped him? Whatever, show. Abigail returning? The "real" romance of Nathan and Elizabeth? If this is what awaits in the new season, I'm on Team Asteroid Makes a Direct Hit on Hope Valley.
  23. Oh, Jack's not dead. He just realized he was married to a woman with serious ball-busting shrew tendencies and used the rock slide as his means of escape. He's living the high life now, not necessarily wealthy, but definitely happy, healthy, and wiser. And, he's gonna meet up with Lucas at some point, and boy howdy, will they have a lot to share. πŸ˜‰ That's my fanwank. Free for the taking to a good home. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚
  24. OK - take back what I said about Nathan. After tonight, he absolutely deserves to fall into Elizabeth's emasculating clutches. Lucas is well rid of her. Speaking of Lucas - isn't he from New Orleans or someplace else in the States? And wouldn't he need to be a Canadian citizen to be eligible to run for governor? Speaking of elections - wouldn't this be the first time Canadian women are allowed to vote? Some might consider that point worth mentioning. This show ...
