  1. Also watching shows now that I originally watched when I was much younger I see them through different eyes. Some things bug but I can wave them away. Happy Days is like comfort food for me. Watching it always makes me feel good. Let's me remember a happier time. On the other hand I cannot re watch Three's Company. What I found funny forty years ago I just now find stupid.
  2. I never thought the girls he dated were high school girls. They were never girls the other guys dated. And some of the girls Fonzie talked about (Palaski twins, Hooper triplets) we never saw. Paula Petralunga showed up at his "funeral" and she sure didn't look like a high school girl. And let's not forget he dated Laverne DiFazio and she wasn't a teenager. I find it best to not analyze Happy Days too much. Yes there are a few thing that don't make sense but for the most part it doesn't take away from my enjoyment in watching it.
  3. Well Henry Winkler was 29 years old when Happy Days started. Ron Howard was 20. So yeah there was a reason HW looked so much older than RH.
  4. I'm re watching season 7 and John Spencer doesn't look good. In hindsight I guess his death shouldn't have been a surprise. Still makes me sad though. I'm enjoying the campaign. Vinick lying to the reverend who was demanding Vinick promise to appoint anti choice judges to secure the evangelicals. votes. Santos not wanting to be seen as just the Latina candidate. So much more interesting than that damn leak story.
  5. Also ABC can edit episodes before they are put on streaming platforms. I can't remember the specifics but I remember posters here talking about something one of the co hosts (maybe Whoopi) said and when I watched it on Hulu later that day it had been edited out.
  6. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but people would post each day's episode on YouTube shortly after it aired each day. But that stopped a couple months ago. I'm assuming ABC put a stop to it
  7. I know but it seems like every time I hear about something it has her attached. I can't help but think her again? And I say this as someone who loved her as Marcia Clark and think she is perfectly cast as Linda Tripp.
  8. All this talk about Meryl Streep got me thinking about Sarah Paulson. It's not that I don't like her but Jesus can there be a project she isn't starring in? This year alone she has been in Mrs. America, Ratched and Run. Next year she is going to be playing Linda Tripp in the new American Crime Story and I think the next season of American Horror Story. It would be nice to see some other actresses get roles in A list projects.
  9. I wonder if she had been on the View the past six weeks what she would have had to say. I don't understand Spanish so I wasn't laughing because I didn't know what she was saying. But Joy seemed to be enjoying herself and I'm glad to see the sparkle back in her eyes. We have had a rough four years (not to mention an absolute horrid past 9 months) so I think Joy is finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I feel Joy's pain about Steve accidentally ordering a case of carrots. When my husband was alive I didn't let him order anything online out of fear I would end up with case of shampoo. But my question is why is Sunny ordering eggs. Doesn't her chickens lay eggs?
  10. I would add Peter Bregman to that list. Well at least when I was watching.
  11. I watched Y&R for years till I gave it up over 10 years ago. Don't like Eric Braeden and don't like Victor Newman. I could never figure out why the character was treated like a hero and the less I say about the actor the better.
  12. Another Nancy Meyers movie Something's Gotta Give paired Diane Keaton with Keanu Reeves and I thought that couple worked. Until of course DK went back to Jack Nicholson's character. The first season of Big Little Lies was damn near perfect. I was actually looking forward to a second season if only to see more of the characters. And I do think some of season two worked but overall I have to agree it would have been better off leaving it at one season.
  13. I have never seen Mama Mia but I knew it had been a play and when I saw that MS had been cast I thought WTF? I also thought she was the wrong choice for Postcards From the Edge. And don't get me started on It's Complicated. She was playing Alec Baldwin's character's ex. MS is nine years older than AB. Which yes age is just a number but I didn't buy them as a couple at all.
  14. I read a book by two casting directors and they said any part that is for a woman between the ages of something like 45-75 always goes to Meryl Streep first. If she says no then other actresses are considered. I like her in some roles but other's I find her miscast. And now that I know she always gets scripts first I now understand. As others have mentioned MS didn't have to be play that role in Big Little Lies. It wasn't like they needed a big star. They already had Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman. MS is a very good actress but I think for a lot of movies her casting overshadows the entire project.
  15. Tom Cruise can (justifiably) yell and swear all he wants. Being nice hasn't worked.
  16. Senator Perdue is doing what politicians do when they don't have anything to offer their constituents. They misrepresent (lie) about what their opponent has to offer. I like forward to the day we can watch an episode of the View that doesn't have any political hot topics.
  17. I think the only of one the remainder episodes I ever saw was the one with Chachi having diabetes. I must have caught it when it aired that summer because any time I ever watched the series in reruns I don't ever remember them showing any of them. For good reason apparently. I read recaps of them over at IMDB and I'm glad I missed them.
  18. If I was one of Whoopi's cohosts I would have had to correct her. It's tendered Whoopi.
  19. Yeah I can't watch the Cosby show or Everybody Loves Raymond because of my dislike of Patricia Heaton. Also had to give up Two and a Half Men because of Charlie Sheen. I did not watch the reboot of Roseanne a few years ago because of her offscreen antics. Once it was changed to the Conners without her I tuned in. The mid seasons were the best IMO. Once they decided on which supporting characters to keep things started to gel. I thought they used characters like Nancy, Leon, Bev and even Arnie just the right way. They weren't in every episode and when they were they were simply part of the story for that episode. I did a rewatch during the start of the pandemic and I stopped after season 8. I just cannot watch season 9 it was so bad.
  20. I didn't mind the jokes about Roz's dating/sex life. Sam on Cheers was a similar character with regards to dating/sex and it was joked about. I didn't feel like she was being shamed because she didn't feel shamed. She might have gotten mad with some of the jokes thrown her way but it didn't make her feel bad about living her life the way she chose to. In real life it would have been creepy but on this show we saw that Niles was not what you would call a stalker. He had a crush on Daphne. We knew he wasn't going to hurt her. That is a good point. I don't think the writers ever meant to insult any group with lines they wrote. In real life sometimes people say things that aren't necessarily politically correct but aren't meant to hurt anyone either. These were fictional characters who had flaws. Now if you want to talk about real life people who say things that aren't politically correct that is a different topic. That was misstep on the writer's part. I think they were just trying to drag out Niles and Daphne getting together. The storyline I absolutely hated was Mel blackmailing Niles to stay married to her. Although I did like the payoff when Niles finally said enough.
  21. I find this to be true with so many series pre #metoo. And not only misogyny but also homophobia. Some things make me cringe today.
  22. All this talk about Frasier's issues with women made me realize this is one of the few shows where viewers have an understanding why the characters are the way they are. This cannot be said enough. Frasier is one of the best written shows in the history of television.
  23. Faye was also my favorite. And a lot of that had to do with Amy Brenneman playing her. I have liked her in every role she has ever played. As I said in the Monk thread for me it is definitely the writing. Both shows you could the episodes were clearly plotted out from start to finish. With some shows it seems like the plot was made up as it went on. And also both shows had little things you could easily miss but catch on a second viewing. And most importantly neither show dumbed itself down to appeal to more viewers. There were lots of jokes on Frasier about wine and opera that I didn't get it. But that was OK. I knew something funny had been said.
  24. It really did sound like Sunny was giving credence to what her friends said. I found it absolutely bizarre she was basically agreeing that thinking Russia helped Trump was the same as thinking Biden rigged this election. I can only speak for myself but if I had friends that thought the way Sunny's friends think I would find new friends. I noticed it too. I swear each day Sunny seems to be acting out of character. The Sunny we are seeing at home doesn't seem like the Sunny we would see on the stage.
  25. I am a fan of both shows. I did a rewatch of each just a couple years ago. They both had excellent writing and their casts were great. It's hard to imagine any other actors playing any of the roles. Also both shows did some things differently than most shows would have done. Stottlemeyer was an ally of Monk. Most shows would have made him an antagonist. Niles fell for Daphne. Most shows would have had Frasier fall for her. And on both shows supporting characters (which IMO they were all lead characters) were allowed to shine and had their own stories.
