  1. I liked the top, but those pants were a disaster.
  2. I liked the color of her dress and the print. But there did seem to be a disconnect between the polish of the top and the hippy-ness of the bottom, and she needed to use more of the print.
  3. I probably would've gotten Olivier, but I'd have known it wasn't Branagh since he's only gotten acting nominations twice, for Henry V and My Week With Marilyn (playing Laurence Olivier, coincidentally). Yeah, I'm something of a Branagh bitch. So glad to know I don't have to worry about taping Jeopardy while I'm out tonight.
  4. He is Barry's friend. But he was around a lot, even so.
  5. I'll confess to being unable to finish that particular version of Emma, although not because of Jonny Lee Miller, who made a fine Knightley. I just hated the performance of the actress playing Emma.
  6. So I tuned in for FJ in the vain hope that Austin would lose, but no such luck. How could anyone not get Nelson Mandela?
  7. I'm currently re-reading Moon Shot. The space program has always interested me , and some recent stuff on the Science channel prompted my re-read.
  8. To be fair, I don't think the books romanticized Snape's motivations. The movies, yeah, but while the books still have him doing what he does to help Harry because of his feelings for Lily, they don't whitewash all the awful things he's done. At least, not that I remember. It's been awhile since I read the books. but he seemed a very dark, dark grey at best.
  9. Her presence in a movie or on tv is enough to make me not watch. It's both her voice and her little girl mannerisms which make her intolerable for me.
  10. I found that I didn't like the recliners. I don't want to lean that far back to watch a movie, and if I adjusted the back more forward, it felt like my lower legs were dangling off the leg rest. Just give me regular stadium seating. I love Jeremy Northam as Knightley, but Mark Strong is an exceedingly close second for me, for the same reasons. And Samantha Morton is a vastly superior Harriet to Toni Collette, who I found to be miscast.
  11. Plus, there's the whole issue of legality. In one ad, there's some mention of using someone's cell phone to listen in on a suspect's conversation. In some states that isn't legal and would jeopardize the case against that suspect.
  12. I'm not an expert in UK law, but would the police really have arrested Andrew while the forensic team was processing Laura's flat? They wouldn't here.
  13. So we are going to have suffer through another Bernadette pregnancy. UGH. This episode was mostly unfunny, but the email Leonard sent to the HR lady was amusing.
  14. Mark Feuerstein was funnier and more likeable talking about the show and its inspiration on the CBS Morning Show than anything in this show. It was only on my tv because I was doing something else and left it on, and I'm sorry I did. This was awful.
  15. Amelia said she wanted kids before they got married. She only changed her mind after she thought she was pregnant.
  16. It doesn't make her a bad person, but not talking to her husband about it, and instead avoiding him like the plague and running out without telling anyone where she was makes her a bad wife. Owen didn't pressure Amelia and he didn't shut her down. She ran and didn't bother to talk to him about it at all.
  17. I actually liked Owen in that scene. He was trying to be supportive since Amelia clearly has issues which need addressing. I thought Amelia was being a total bitch, and she is mostly the reason for their marriage breaking down.
  18. I found his personality obnoxious, and life is too short to willingly spend time with obnoxious people. I tend to intensely dislike contestants who seem to me as if they're playing a character, and Austin is the epitome of that. I don't buy that it's because he's a bartender, because I've known bartenders who weren't always on. I think it's because he's a douchebag.
  19. Yeah, a draw is better than a loss in soccer, and sometimes (like when Arsenal finally did not lose to Chelsea in a regular season match last week) it's a damned good thing.
  20. I'd even take serial killer Matt over Austin. But not the drumstick chick. Even I have my limits.
  21. I'm out until the hipster douchebag is gone.
  22. Given that one of those two adults didn't want to have any children to begin with, I found their reactions to be the most realistic thing about the episode.
  23. Ugh, of course the annoying hipster jackass won!
  24. I first heard of Lighthorse Harry Lee in the musical 1776 - he was a cousin of Richard Henry Lee, whose song "The Lees of Old Virginia" lists many of his relatives, including Lighthorse Harry. (Although the nickname was bestowed after the American Revolution.) He was also the father of Robert E. Lee. I was rooting for Ivan, but liked Dennis, too. And that was some crap wagering by Ivan, so good for Dennis - he did what he had to do to win. I got all of these too. How could they not know Mean Joe Green?
  25. Lucky you. I loathed the Rime of the Ancient Mariner, and wanted to kill the protagonist myself long before I got to the end of it.
