  1. Jacki Kennedy would have tied a scarf around her head - but Joanie is no Jacki Kennedy. Boat and car ride mean wind, so control your hair.
  2. Watching the wedding gown selection. So far 3 girls - 2 of them are big. Don't think the blond and the basement guy will work out at all.
  3. Sorry to see the Captain go - he seemed very capable (fixing the sink). Don't want to see Gerry ever, but they keep rolling him out. Enjoy the men interacting more than the "dates". Do they ever talk about jobs, hobbies, interests? Or only their late spouses? Seems odd. I'm widowed too, but most of these people (including Joan) are not ready for a new committment. Maybe "dating", but not marriage.
  4. No mention of Garrison in any of the threads - had to look it up and read newspaper article. Shocked - so sad for Janelle.
  5. I must commend you on your logic and your excellent English writing skills. Consider me shocked that GenX did this. Love that you include, "heaven's to Betsy" and "Clutching pearls" in your lovely post. Well written and thought out - love it!
  6. If Doctor Bill had been there, that scene would have been completely different.
  7. Refusing to go the hospital is not an "Italian thing" - it is a drug addict or ex-con thing. It is real.
  8. How many more episodes? Thanks. BORING!
  9. NJ Housewives show is not on TV tonight, Below Deck is on at 8 pm???
  10. Agree with all that's been said. No more Melissa relatives or Boujee crap.
  11. I thought Delores looked awful in that dress at Melissa's party. Her hair was bad too. The dress was so unflattering. Of course, Marge looked bad, as usual, and that was mentioned here. It's unusual for Delores to look terrible.
  12. Joe Gorga is an ass. His big scene dissing his Sister and throwing her card into the fire. Of course he had a gross paper image of his naked - hate him. Where is everybody? How about some snark?
  13. I understand completely where you're coming from, but there is the truth that it is a public commitment and final step. If the man or woman will not do that, it does seem "less than" in the eyes of Italian Americans raised in the Catholic faith. They may seem modern with the outfits, makeup, surgeries, sex lives, etc, but they were raised in very traditional families. Also, as mentioned above, you secure your inheritance and any pension, with marriage.
  14. When people show you who they are believe them. Paulie has the upper hand in the relationship, and he knows it. He tells her to leave if she's rethinking things. IF he adored her, he would do whatever it takes to keep her. Unless they are making all of this up for a storyline, and he really is divorcing soon and marrying soon - that is a possibility too.
  15. Geeze what a snoozefest this series is. I miss the days of Joe Guidice - he was entertaining, if nothing else. NO ONE HERE is entertaining, and there are no light-hearted fun moments EVER. There, I feel better already.
  16. Melissa tries to tell her daughter to have fun, and comes out with something about oats. I didn't realize she is THAT stupid. Then someone tells her "sow your wild oats". She still doesn't get it. (She's thinking sew, doesn't know what sow is). Even dumb Joe doesn't want his daughter to "sow her wild oats", he says, "college is for studying".
  17. There are women who have to have a man. They can't be alone. Yes, she did divorce Frank, but they lived in the same house and they were still a family. Now she's already moved in with this married guy Paul, while Frank is living with his girlfriend.
  18. She said something to indicate she doesn't think it's proper to get engaged before the divorce.
  19. In defense of Delores picking men with commitment issues - how do you know ahead of time that the guy won't put a ring on it? Only time will tell (unless there's something obvious, like he's a player). She's had bad luck, as have many of us with former boyfriends who won't commit after a year or so.
  20. Adoption in 1930 or so, doesn't involve a picture of the birth mother to be given to the child when appropriate. This is a much later practice. There were closed adoptions in the 30's.
  21. These shortened Italian words are dialect. Our Grandparents didn't speak regular Italian and these other words are from what they spoke. It has come down to the present day generation who've heard all of this since they were born.
  22. Jennifer said Bill had two surgeries and couldn't make it. It looks like an interesting season. Couldn't stand that Fuda was attacking Paul. Wish the Fuda's were off the show.
  23. I can see I'm in the minority here, but it's 1969. Trixie has a job with long, odd hours. She's not working 1 or 2 days a week. She has a young baby and husband. Apparently, he's under a lot stress. She needs to spend more time at home.
  24. Farewell my lovelies - I'm out for HEA, hate everyone there. Hope we can all regroup in the future. Will miss you! Stay well.
