  1. A lot can happen , especially with 40+ year old QB’s, but Peyton’s all time regular season TD passes should come tumbling down next year by either or both Brady and Brees. Brady should pass Peyton’s overall TD passes (regular and playoffs) in the next 3-5 games. For Brady haters it could get worse: https://www.sbnation.com/2017/10/15/16464558/tom-brady-nfl-record-list-most-touchdowns-yards Brady if he stays healthy (big If I know) can own most passing records, and the ones he doesn’t get will go to Brees.
  2. Did Queenie’s appearance actually add anything or enhance the Hotel storyline? Having random cameo appearances of characters from other seasons doesn’t make it perse cohesive story telling. The story has to make some sort of narrative sense, the people can’t just do conflicting 180 turns in their characterization for shock value, and major plot lines shouldn’t be thrown away and ignored after a major build up. Killing off most of the characters in a bloodbath to resolve their storylines without addressing the conflicts set up for them just strikes me as lazy and sloppy. Cohesive story lines to me implies that even within a fantastical or surreal setting there is a strong emotional payoff when the plot lines are resolved, whereas in most AHS seasons the finales fizzle off and limp to a conclusion.

I will say this about Serena, and yes "representing all the mothers, " is a bit annoying. I don't think people realize how difficult it is what she's done within a year of giving birth. She was nearly 36 when she got pregnant, a fairly later in life pregnancy. There are reasons whey they suggest that a woman get pregnant in her twenties, especially the first time for it to go much better. For comparison Kim Clijsters had a child at 24 and won the USO a year and a half latter, Evonne Goolagong had her child at age 26 and won Wimbledon 3 years later. Margaret Court had her child close to 29 and won the AO about a year later. Ole Margaret still played some tour events after her third child... So Serena making the Wimbledon final 10 months after giving birth and on reaching her second Majors final before the baby turns a year is pretty impressive. Did we mention she's nearly 37 and doing this in an individual sport with someone who is the highest profile female sports persona in the world ? Talk about doing all this under a media microscope. There were quite a few tennis pundits/experts, including some who helped Kim get back into competitive shape who expressed deep reservations if Serena would ever be able to get back considering the strenuous hard work and "self discipline" it would take. One can certainly read between the lines. Why would she push herself physically, what motivation at this point in her career could she possibly have? They also said at her age she wouldn't have the same resiliency and the wear and tear of having played tennis for the last 20 plus years as a pro would work against her. So I can certainly see how Serena would feel pretty emotional about her comeback, win or lose Saturday, she's pretty much already won. It's ironic but all these strange and unexpected "breaks" in her tennis life have somehow made Serena the champion with most longevity in the Open Era.

Commercials:The most uncomfortable though were the American Express ones that ran asking where’s Andy Roddicks mojo the year he got upset in the first round.... awkward....

The Nadal Thiem match was insane, nobody could get the upper hand. Rafa better improve that serve before he meets Del Potro, though I have to think as much as Del Potro’s BH is improving even through this tournament it won’t match Thiems redline howitzer BH shots. Some of his shots are crazy...

Serena looked very good in the SF win over Georges today, what most impressed me was her court coverage. Someone commented that women athletes can actually get stronger after coming back competitively from a pregnancy. Scary thought if it means Serena is entering yet another era in her career.

With Wimbledon your draw is so important, especially with how the grass courts play the first week versus the second. Rafa has had a very spotty record to say the least the last 7 years, but anybody who’s made 5 Wimbledon finals in their career can’t be dismissed so easily IMO. Perrsonally I’ve always felt that Rafa’s most chronic Achilles heel is his return of serve and so at Wimbledon that been exploited a lot.
  10. Wow, post Glee Jenna is the first cast member to win a TONY, as one of the producers her musical won “best revival of a musical” in tonite’s Ceremony.

Maybe whe he’s 39 or 40, slowing down a half step, and it’s slow wet conditions on the red clay, with a low bouncing ball, some young phenom will snatch the title from him playing out of his head. Until then... I laughed when Rafa at the awards ceremony did the obligatory “my opponent will win a FO in the future”. HA! Wanna bet?? At this rate Rafa will have 14 or 15 FO’s by the time he’s through. FWIW, I don’t even think it’s the so called daunting physical task of playing Rafa at the FO: Thiem is as physically well conditioned as any tennis player out there (he’s a beast for practicing) and he’s only 24, but the mental strain of having to hang in there with Rafa’s relentless tenacity/will every damn point. Thiem was as much mentally spent as anything.

    The NBA

That was a pretty lackluster display by the Cavs. It's almost af if they caved in once the Warriors stayed competitive in the first quarter. 4 Finals and 3 Championships. Hate to use the "D" word, but fuck. ETA: Houston players should have recurring nightmares all the off season.

    The NBA

I guess it's too much to argue that the Warriors are actually more homegrown and less "manufactured" as in Curry ,Klay Thompson and Draymond Green were chosen or drafted by Golden State before any of them developed into the starters/stars they are today. Curry was a huge question mark a few years back and IIRC some asked why Klay Thomspon wasn't traded for Kevin Love. Perish the thought they nurtured these players AND then pick up a KD, since Boston, LA, Miami, etc were all much more homegrown and less dependent on their success from picking up established stars. It was all draft picks with those teams. Wait What? Never mind. ETA: Plus every one talks about the 73 win season but want to forget they LOST the NBA finals because it was exposed they didn't have the physical MAN on the team...so when the opportunity arose... That2 2016 heartbreaking NBA finals loss ironically worked out for them. Still there was no guarantee KD would jell with them for champs.

Even if Del Potro had won the first set, it was still going to be a brutal grind out battle, and JMDP was going to be subject to that pounding all day long and the physical toil on him... For the final, I think it really depends how Thiem’s one handed topspin BH withstands Rafa’s barrage on it. As pretty as that Thiem shot is, it has IMO less variety than Roger’s version because of his long windup, and we know how that Roger BH turned out on red clay versus Rafa. Theim has beaten Rafa 3 times on clay, there’s that, but agreed; 3 out of 5 ??

I’m thinking Rafa /Del Potro is Rafa pounding JMDP’s BH corner and Juan Marin pounding that FH when he gets the chance. On a sidenote: i never thought anything would more annoying than the psedo poetic Melbourne commercials during the AO but I’m ready to hurl when the overwrought Lacoste commercials pop up. It’s suppose to be about sportswear, right? I want to throw the couple off that damn train.
  17. T’challa , unlike Killmonger, is well aware of the nuances in the world. Rejecting Wakanda’s nonintervention policy, while recognzing the pitffalls of engaging the outside world was actually well presented in the film. OTOH, Killmonger took the historical oppression of Blacks and the military jingoistic “Might is Right” and was going to burn the world down simply with new guys in charge. His anger was understandable, but it wasn’t tempered with any sense of justice or empathy for others, not even for his new found Wakanda brotherhood.
  18. From Forbes Magazine's latest projections Avengers Infinity War will fall short of BP's domestic tally of 698 million. It has 601 as of now, so even if it overtakes BP, it's legs don't look that strong so it won't be by more than a whisker IMO. Other than the possible exception of Jurassic World coming out later this summer, BP may end being the largest grossing domestic movie this year. How fucking great would that be?
  19. Actually I can name many TV shows with more limited "niche" appeal (contrasted to Glee's mainstream success) who were on the air less time than the 6 years of the show whose forums have thrived for years. The Glee forum was shedding members at a rapid clip even when the show was at it's peak because quite frankly the ineptitude of its moderators and administration was glaring, so it limped along closing off discussions to all but their dwindling core members. Tweeners posing as moderators is never a pretty sight. The Glee forum's euthanasia was long overdue.
  20. For those who followed him (or even Glee) it really isn't much of a surprise, but Kevin McHale officially came out: http://people.com/tv/kevin-mchale-comes-out-gay/ I mean his "roommate" (as previously described publicly and now acknowledged boyfriend) and Kevin have been posting in social media for years. Kevin has been out to his family/friends for nearly a decade.

Goodness, Rafael Nadal just won his 11th Monte Carlo title (not a typo) and he looked better than ever on clay. The 2 handed backhand in particular was like buttah. Counting the previous week’s Davis Cup tie, Rafa manhandled Zverev, Thiem, Dimitrov and Nishikori in straight sets, with their winning at most five games in the entire match. I just dont see who has a realistic chance ( barring injuries) of snatching 3 sets from him on Roland Garos yet again. ETA: the Zverev match was best of five and Rafa gave up nine games over three sets.

  24. I’m curious why we haven’t gotten any formal date or announcement when Dreamgirls will open on Broadway; ie the West End production for which Amber Riley got the Olivier award. Perhaps still negotiating a venue.
  25. That’s not what the poster said. He said “Even Partners in straight relationships are given the shaft”. Which is factually true. BTW, the case you stated is a bad example, because since NY didn’t recognize common law spouses (straight or gay) and the will only had one signature , a straight couple could be screwed in THAT particular case.
