  1. The give and take will go both ways. Doubt that Ryan Murphy can challenge FOX and make them concede to all of his demands considering they foot the bills and they can say yea or nay to any future projects. It benefits both sides to "accommodate" each other, at least publicly. Chris not present at the Upfronts may simply be that FOX doesn't give a shit anymore as far as appearances, Glee ( and Fox) is going to probably take a major hit on ad revenues for Season 6 regardless so it doesn't matter who shows up as far as Glee. If Glee asked Chris and he begged off if it wasn't absolutely necessary is something I could envision happened. It's a walking wounded show at this point.
  2. The season 6 probably 13 episode arc of Glee will basically be "Sing" the second season. Matt Morrison seems contractually tethered to the end even if he only puts in a couple of appearances I'm guessing. Naya is probably completely out. I expect Chris, Kevin and Amber to get the occasional bone of a song or be a prop on the main Three characters (Deleastreet) storylines. The "good" (?) news is that the shortened season will seem much longer. Much, much longer.
  3. Let's be real, even a shortened season will be crappy filler episodes regardless.
  4. Somehow I don't see Glee with .8 ratings giving Ryan Murphy much "pull" with negotiations if FOX decides to cut Glee's episode order. If Ryan Murphy plays hard ball insisting the Network lose millions of dollar on a full 22 episode order he also gets damaged as far as dealing with network brass. They will sit down and work something out, and afterwards there will be PR Spin, spin, spin, to try to make it appear both sides "won" and saved face. Glee is still Ryan Murphy's one and only hit long running major network show. He'll still get developments deals/etc in HW, but I doubt his reputation hasn't taken a hit for running Glee so badly into the ground with his much vaunted McKinley Noob reboot.
  5. I think Jane is at Upfronts to shill for her game show on NBC, "Hollywood Nights". I doubt if at this late date even Glee has the gall to try to push her as a genuine "regular" anymore on the show to the advertisers.
  6. So it's speculated there was a 44 episode commitment in the last 2 year Glee renewal, so it's probably all negotiations to whittle it down on the part of FOX vis a vis RIB. It's a matter of money, since I'm sure Glee wants some compensation based on a full year even if FOX shortens the episode order.
  7. Just a wild guess but I'm assuming Ryan Murphy's announced super sized 24 episode Season 6 Glee is off the table.
  8. Glee was scheduled to start 2014 in the fall as usual, but had a hiatus planned for the baseball playoffs and an even longer winter break scheduled where it would not air again until February 25, 2014. With Cory's death, Glee's season premeire was delayed IIRC one or two weeks. Things changed so that it returned in January instead of February but at no point was it ever announced/planned to be a mid season replacement last year as in being off the fall roster. It was scheduled for at least 10 episodes in the fall, which meant that FOX was just going to spread Glee out during the year. This year is different, Glee is a mid season replacement show, period. Translation: "FUCK NO are we going to give the lowest rated show in our roster, Glee, a full 22 episode order."
  9. Wow I guess any camera shot is "showy', damn those pretentious directors with dissolve shots and pan shots. Been doing them for close to 100 years; the nerve of them. Having cleared that up, I most say I was impressed with both Kevin McHale and Amber Riley's comic timing on this episode. They were funny and had such great quirky touches on their characters. Artie was hilarious in being scared of Mercedes and Mercedes reaction to her precious weaves and shoes chewed on was priceless. Wish Billy Dee Williams and Tim Conway had had more to do. Santana as a PR person from hell , her slogan that if she could make it work for Berry she could help anyone! Hehehehe...
  10. Well I stand corrected, so I guess Kurt really knows jack shit how Season Six is really going to work out since they don't have any script IMO even written yet. Ryan talks out out of his ass at the beginning of every season and then you compare what actually transpired after the fact and you have an idea how much of it is just his usual nonsense.
  11. It was used 3 times because they were showing the passage of age on the 3 characters. Sometimes it is that simple.
  12. With Santana and Mercedes there was some throwaway lines that their fathers were a Doctor and Dentist respectively, but it didn't amount to be much because it was just a split second reference.
  13. Yup he looked like a pretentious asshole. It was a simple camera pan shot. Nothing "showy" about it. Happens on shows where one performer sees another singing about a million times since pan shots were invented. Considering the song was "Memory" and it was obviously meant to imply the passage of time and someone whose place in the sun was long gone, it was appropriate.
  14. I doubt very strongly that Chris doesn't know if he's technically back full time on Glee as a Regular. IMO Those contracts for Season Six have been signed and the ink dry. Even in Season 4 he was "full time" on Glee, albeit I admit woefully underutilized. He was in 19 out of 22 episodes that year, even if many were cameo appearances. Somehow I think Chris was talking more about how many actual SL's Kurt is actually going to get, and who can blame him?
  15. Well, that There are genuine closeups of older characters is one thing, but the gauze they shoot the Shirely McClaine character is another thing and separate horror. Maybe it's American culture thing, but it seems folks are freaked out by seeing closeups of older people with wrinkles and all on screen, I much prefer that then the Kabuki masks that plastic surgery imposes on most aging American actors.
  16. Actually Chris said he's good with how they set up Kurt for season Six. As to Ryan saying that S6 would be heavy on Leas, Darren and Chord, well yea, how is that surprising?. Ryan also said that S4 would focus heavily on Rachel in NY and we all know how that finally went. I"m amazed that people take all the bullshit coming out of RM's mouths as gospel for the "plan" for the next season as if it's all planned out and coherent or that he'll even follow through what he babbles.. For me, knowing how unreliable a source Ryan is at this point is a good thing, LOL.
  17. Except for the one big exception that was Season 4. Ryan Murphy was so obsessed in trying to make the Noobs succeed he even relegated Rachel to a cameo character by season end.
  18. Lea is Lea, she gushes about things from the top of her head. I"m certainly not going to interpret that one remark that there is nothing planned for Kurt. The other six characters left, Jane, Matt, Chris, Amber and Kevin weren't mentioned in Lea's interview either and I doubt they will be gone for Season 6. OK, Naya, I'm not so sure about it. I'm curious how they incorporate Jane into Season 6 with McKinley gone because I doubt that FOX wants to let her go from the show.
  19. Ah, but you miss some good entertainment.! I think the kids on Glee in some ways are pretty entitled, and at least as far as Kurt is concerned his father Burt spoiled him shamelessly. I mean a Navigator at the the age of 15/16? Don't get me started with Rachel and her stage Dads,or Blaine who switches schools and buys pianos as thank you gifts. The only character who seems to have had it rough financially is Sam, but he's portrayed usually as such an idiot it doesn't matter.
  20. Yea, say what you will about the character Carson in " Struck by Lightning", the physicality, speech pattern and persona were 180 from the Kurt Hummel of Glee. Chris created two distinct , dissimilar people , most likely deliberately so.
  21. Individual threads for actors have been opened. (Lea, Chris, Darren) I suppose we could add their Glee character to them.
  22. Or at least we would have "only "13 filler episodes as opposed to 22 or 24.
  23. I actually liked the idea of Rachel trying to "salvage" and refashion her public image and Santana happily volunteering for the task. IN another show, I could see Satana becoming a combination of the character Bebe of "Fraiser" and Samantha of "Sex in the City", Rachel would sell her soul by letting Santana "PR" her but it would be soo amusing.
