  1. Jensen Ackles is a beautiful, beautiful man. But even he cannot make golf clothes sexy.
  2. Don't let SPN go out in the first round! http://io9.com/io9s-march-madness-movies-vs-tv-1691642115
  3. I kind of watched it last night and this morning while I was doing stuff, but tonight I sat down and actually watched a few things more closely. 1. I love The Californians, but that was...not great, and way too long. 2. Al Franken! You can just see him behind Bob Odenkirk during the Seinfeld bit. 3. People. You maybe be on camera at any moment, you don't know when. DON'T BE CHEWING GUM. So many people looked like, in my mom's expression, a cow chewing their cud. The one bit I would have liked to have seen -- in the sports segment? Greg is not an alien. That, along with The Californians, is my favorite from the last half dozen years.
  4. I just finished the Phil Harman biography, and have been wondering about the kids. Hope they had a peaceful and loving family life. Congrats to them both for staying out of the media all these years.
  5. Some great stuff. I personally think Sam's hair had a moment, tonight. I hardly missed JA, as "Dean" was very present. Mrs. Patmore! On the other hand, directing a side-eye at clothes shenanigans. And another underage girl left to wander the lush rainforests of...wherever this was supposed to be. Also, since when can SPN afford Taylor Swift? Unfortunate timing with the climax of the ep. I'm sure there was debate about it.
  6. My favorite part was the actual, unexpurgated use of the phrase, "no shit". Finally TV!
  7. I like the show, and I don't have issues with any of the characters, but I feel strongly the need to say somewhere: LAY OFF THE LIP LINER.
  8. That's where I've seen that actor before! Heh.
  9. The Crowley doll is now real, and it's spectacular. http://www.popcultcha.com.au/supernatural-crowley-with-red-demon-eyes-pop-vinyl-figure.html
  10. Heh. http://www.popcultcha.com.au/supernatural-crowley-pop-vinyl-figure.html#.VFESEfnF8g0
  11. Meh. Some things I liked quite well -- thalia on the hood of the car post-crash was the creepiest thing I've seen in a while! But I didn't care for the lead actor. Too Gordon Ramsey.
  12. Two things -- that hammering through the door was idiotic. He could have reached through the door once he splintered it and opened it instead of spending half an hour on the job while monologuing. What might have been so much better? Dean vanishes after the first couple blows and appears behind Sam, they have their confrontation then Castiel appears. Gives us a tiny taste of Demon powers, and it would even have been cheaper! Second, while Deanmon was taunting Sam about Lester, he couldn't have thrown in something to bookend that offensive conversation in The Purge? I was waiting for it. Ok, I was yelling at the TV, "say it!". I almost never complain because I love this show. (Mostly I love looking at Ackles acting and just, you know, existing -- that itch def. got scratched last night, so, good on ya.) But this was just incompetent. I know a CW show has limitations on resources and we forgive a lot because of it. But a couple of cost-less OBVIOUS tweaks and this episode would have been so much better. It's aggravating that the people making the show care less than we do. Get on a different show if you're too bored to put some effort into making this one.
  13. I'm intrigued by your ideas and wish to subscribe to your newsletter. I think "nonchalance" is exactly the right word. I didn't get a "go ahead, kill him, see if I care" vibe at all. It was more calling the guy on his BS. DemonDean is smart enough to see through him, and currently disinclined to play games or go along with the conventions of hostage negotiations. It wouldn't shock me if Dean showed up to rescue Sam, not so much because he's worried about WoobieSam, but because he's pissed off and also wouldn't mind getting into it with someone. (He and this dude have some kind of history, maybe he recognized the voice.) If the difference between DemonDean and OriginalDean is a loss of inhibitions and behavioral controls, I'd imagine that he's going to be struggling with that for a good long time, even if he's "cured" early on. What is a demon, after all? A being with powers, but with agency. Meg, and Crowley, have on occasion done things that were helpful to Our Heroes, and they've also done terrible things that I think sometimes Show has forgotten (Ellen and Jo, for example). If being a demon isn't black/white, good/evil -- if the torture in hell is what turns a human into a demon and Dean missed out on that (this time) -- that's more interesting than just black eyes and being evil. He is still Dean, and he'll keep on being Dean once he's cured, but with memories of what it's like to be on the other side, some of which I bet he'll remember with some (conflicted) fondness. Anyway, I personally enjoyed it very much. I'm pathetically easy to please when it comes to Supernatural, though. (The clips we've seen of the Bunker confrontation might be presented as a flashback, no? Is that what everyone is assuming?) PS -- that scene of wee little Cole leading Moose-with-bag-on-head was hilarious.
  14. Co-sign. Now, who's going to sell me a Crowley and Squirrel t-shirt?
  15. So, after having this on in the background for a week plus, mainly I really really hate that Doritos commercial. And the TWC commercials. And the Outlander/Starz commercial (which is also a TCW commerical). And the Snow White commercial. And PIzza Hut and Lime-A-Way. And Expedia and Travel Advisor and CarFax. And The League, whatever that is. And mostly I hate #X. HOW ABOUT JUST NOT ANSWERING YOUR PHONE WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING? And that asshole walking down Melrose with Ali G. And Ali G.
  16. So much for the "record all the Treehouse of Horror" eps plan. Thanks much TWC!
  17. I'm also recording all the Treehouse of Horror eps -- why won't they sell me that??!? along with miscellaneous eps., some just for a single joke: "Na na na na na na na na Batman!" I love the Simpsons and it's almost the only show I watch in real time anymore, and still get laughs ("oh, he's just a bottom") -- but seeing the eps like this it's pretty obvious how great and special the first years were.
  18. When the show the (new, presumably) squad is shown on the field, one girl has her face blurred. What's up with that?
  19. The most potent chemistry on this show is between Corey and Jeremy.
  20. I mean of ANW. Half the actors on CW shows spend more time shirtless than dressed. Not that there's anything wrong with that....
  21. The CW is missing the boat not having an all-CW star miniseries of this run during the summer.
  22. The way the show is dismissing so many plot points and whole storylines from the books exposes a lot of them as red herrings, I'd think GRRM is having some trouble writing another thick book full of them, when readers know they're going nowhere.
