I'm not really grossed out by the Nik/Esmé stuff. To me it's just comedy, because of how stupid Nikolas looks. It might be entertaining at least.

What a shitty direction to take with the Harmony character. This is really the best storyline they could come up with? It's toxic, insulting, and pure garbage. What wasted potential. I wonder if the actress is pissed...
-
Yes, they should have had Batman/Bruce working with a young Robin instead of the troubled loner stuff. Maybe ditch Alfred altogether.

She don't gotta be redeemed to stick around. Filming a sex tape is no biggie for a soap. By "hired killer", they were probably referring to contractors paid by the job. Jason was a full-time employee and member of Sonny's organization. A killer, sure, but not a killer-for-hire.

I wasn't just referring to Golden Age material. The content you read only goes into the early 1940s. There's still decades worth of material between that and the post-Crisis stories of the late 80s. The stories evolve and change significantly over time. It's not all random mobsters and BDSM. Far from it. There are other options besides the Golden Age Omnibuses.

Batman doesn't really start over from scratch, as much as the backstories and characterization is revised. The early post-Crisis stories will only mean but so much without having read the pre-Crisis stories. I understand that you may not enjoy reading the earliest Golden Age versions of these characters, but you are skipping over decades worth of meaningful content in the DC Universe. My suggestion is that you consider going back at some point and exploring the stories from previous eras in order to truly appreciate these characters. Don't become overly concerned with reading everything there is from the very beginning. There are ways where you can get just enough of what you need without absolute completion or without carving out huge chunks of content.

Could be a rookie detective.

Cam should start spending more time with Spencer and less time with Joss. Their scenes together are much stronger and healthier.

This new Trina actress seems to be naturally soft-spoken, not at all like Mikayla was. Normally I wouldn't mind, but it seems like they are attempting to write Trina into actually believing that she was the one who filmed Cam and Joss. I think that the way she was singing Josslyn's praises today might be a dark omen for what's to come.
-
I think that the actress recently posted that she was already back at GH and filming.
-
I'm glad that they are possibly going weird and gross with Esme/Ryan. It's a bit more unexpected and if it makes things that much more interesting, then creep away I say.

Yeah, and I think I prefer the Schumacher films over the Burton ones. They were more faithful to the source material.

I think I first heard of Munchausen's from listening to Eminem records back in the early 2000s. Finn casually sipping on soda, and straight out the can? Nah, didn't need to see that.

I would never even consider clicking on one of those videos. The thumbnails and titles alone are always a huge nope for me.

Briana Nicole Henry is now 30 and Vinessa Antoine is now 38. So this is the oldest Jordan they have casted yet.

MCU Spider-Man and the MCU in general have been more popular than everything in the last decade, so that's really not a good comparison. Batman is popular, but not nearly as popular as it was in years past. Especially after the Nolan films went all-out and were so massively successful. Combine that with the ill-conceived and poorly-received Batman-related efforts released since then, it makes sense that the general public would be broadly uninterested in yet another Batman reboot. Word-of-mouth will likely be the determining factor in this film's success.

Maybe one day someone will take another swing at the novel. I think a trilogy of films based on the original book alone could do the story justice. That, or a television adaptation for streaming or whatever. You could probably get a few seasons out of it. I'm actually surprised that there weren't more adaptations after the success of the first two films. No network television series, no Broadway shows. Maybe it's an issue with the rights or something.

Law & Order: OC In The Media

Another cop for Leary, huh? Lol. -
The Johnny sections take up a significant amount of the story. It's not something that can just be excised away like it's nothing. But that's really only the tip of the iceberg. The characterization of everyone is notably different from novel to film, while the story itself goes into different directions between versions. The film is a loose adaptation of the novel in my view, and Puzo's contributions don't really change that. If someone were to attempt a more faithful version of the book, I think that the end product would look vastly different than what we got in Coppola's film.
-
The novel and the film are very far removed from one another, and in my mind it is best to view them as separate beasts. I wouldn't mind seeing them try to adapt the novel again someday, either in film or in television.

Sony's "Spider-Verse" aka Middle Finger to Disney
Tenshinhan replied to AimingforYoko's topic in Movies
I don't believe that Madame Web was a mutant in the earlier stories, that may have been retroactive. Having psychic abilities isn't too difficult to explain on its own. -
In the context of race, Trina's situation would be more important. It's not that a white woman in Trina's position being violated and discarded wouldn't be a bad thing. It's that for Trina and Black identity, it's far worse. Race is only one aspect of Trina's story. It doesn't necessarily supersede everything else. But it does deserve the appropriate attention and consideration, given its importance.
-
Correct, it would not be as bad if it were a white woman. Race is always relevant. We live in a society in which Blackness and Black womanhood are normally devalued in favor of Whiteness. Television and media are components and reflections of society. So naturally, the portrayal of race in fiction will be an important subject.
-
It's always going to be worse when the friend is Black. The only Black woman in the group being drugged by a White woman to be used as a tool to further her schemes, while the Black woman is then left alone and forgotten by her supposed White friends. It's a White-dominated and White-centered story that only dehumanizes and devalues Black women and people of color.

For me, anything three hours and under works as long as the story itself is served by the runtime. If it were over three hours, then such a film would need to be a special case in my view. I know that Matt Reeves was fighting the studio for a longer cut, so hopefully this means that the end result is more in line with his vision for the film.
