  1. He used the tape to stop the guy from screaming. He said so as he taped his mouth. I enjoyed the dancing, too.
  2. I was thinking about why they chose totes for Elsbeth, and not a raincoat. I guess it's because the setting is different. A superfluous raincoat in sunny California works in all seasons. But in NYC, the raincoat just doesn't have the same effect. Also, they are not trying to make her seem unkempt like Columbo. She's not hiding her wealth, either, so they wanted something that could still allow her to be visually appealing-- CA contrasted Columbo's drabness with the California views. This show contrasts colorful Elsbeth with the less saturated colors of an urban and mostly (in most episodes) indoor setting. The useless totes give them flexibility that the one raincoat didn't. She can carry different ones each time and it still looks silly.
  3. I couldn't stand Gabriella's mother! But Manny has also been insufferable lately. And of course Luke, who pretty much always is. But I liked a lot else this episode. Sharon didn't even annoy me, and also I thought she looked amazing. I seem to have developed a liking for sparkly clothes. Vince was stupid. And Gabriella going along with it is also stupid. Is it really true that if he's injured, his career is over? Couldn't he go on medical leave and then return if his body recovers? Sharon sure returned after her kidney transplant. I get that if he's too impaired to do the job he'd be out. But if he's dead he's out, also. So grow up and get treatment. I'm sure Bode would rather have a live father than fight fires together briefly and then have a dead one. And fighing fires together was not even a thing if they were closing 3 Rock. Vince is not thinking clearly. Also, it looked to me like the actor was embarrassed to be saying his lines. Gen is charming as hell. I like her better than either of her dads. But Jake is really good with her. Bode is still too sulky but I like that he tries not to put it on her directly, and he basically behaved okay with her even if he was a jerk with Jake. Now they have to develop some of the 3 Rock characters more, so it's not just all about the non-prisoner personalities and the vague nameless felons who everybody talks about but gives no dimension to. Gabriella should talk to her mother before the wedding but not at the gala. Her fiance overstepped by inviting G's mom, and did we see mom talk to him like she talked to everybody else? Maybe he left to fight the fire and she didn't get a chance. But they are clearly minimizing the window on his character. It's too bad. I liked that he was warm to Bode. He seems not petty, generally. But his character must be assassinated to pave the way for Gabriella to do what her mother said to do, and get back with Bode (and by implication also forgive and reconcile with her mom, right)? I roll my eyes. I'm being critical, but I actually liked the episode, mostly.
  4. I like the champ. I want her to stick around at least long enough to qualify for the TOC. Thanks for the tie validation! I gave up on getting notifications for this site. They used to come regularly, then stopped for no reason I could figure out, and nothing I did got them back. Now I check my "followed content" page to see what's new.
  5. It was a good episode despite this, though, I thought.
  6. I looked away and missed it. What did it say?
  7. I have forgiven Yogesh. Just in case he's reading this, I thought it should be said. I still kind of want Victoria to win, though.
  8. The bus driver didn't ask Chim for a fare. It made me wonder if the bus itself was another of his hallucinations.
  9. I didn't read it as Shaun being bothered that his kid might be autistic. I just took it as him being very aware of the signs, and matter of factly noting it. Even if it's too early to be diagnosing, I can easily imagine him being sort of vigilant about it. He notices signs in patients, too, it's just something he picks up on. I get that because it's like people like me having "gaydar" and being hyper aware of signals people give about that, which straight people might not notice. It's not foolproof, but it's there. But I think his total lack of any autistic friends IS a sign he doesn't have pride or even interest, which I find strange. Everyone I know seeks out people with similar stuff to themselves; with or without pride, it's just useful to have people who get you without having to explain everything in exhaustive detail. NOT that folks with the same label are identical, but just that there are things others simply have no experience with in the areas where there's overap.
  10. The tape was driving me crazy! I kept wondering how they didn't notice the freaking tape when they pulled the body out of the water! Is that fast dissolving tape real? I can't imagine any adhesive that would stick but be undetectable. Or maybe it works like coban (a kind of bandage)? But then I can't imagine it being dissolvable if also strong. Anyway, if it's real, I want some. Just for curiosity, not crime.
  11. I think they could have mined plenty from Nigel and Isaac together. How about Isaac having his sexual awakening with his husband? Somehow other shows manage to write both comedy and drama about married couples, but this show couldn't do it? I also didn't understand how Patience was with Flower in the well but not there for the rescue. Did she want to stay in the dirt?
  12. I hate that they cancelled this show. But yeah-- where the hell was the union?
  13. I was fine with the dress. It seemed to me like a pretty normal wedding dress, so if you like white lacy wedding dresses, it seemed like pretty standard stuff, though maybe showing more boob than usual. I was really annoyed by Buck and Eddie getting shitfaced and trashing the room. Grow up, assholes! And who is paying for the damage? Better not leave Chim with that bill. I did think sootface was funny, though. I guess they needed some levity to end on. I didn't see the car theft coming. I had thought maybe Chim was in a car accident and the good samaritan was going to drive him to the hospital, clearly seeing he was in distress. But then when I saw the shaking hand, he was obviously having a medical thing, even before the car.
  14. I could swear he's repeated a particular tie because I love it and look for it and have seen it (or thought I did) a few times. It's purple with a pattern on it. I don't know why I like it, but it really catches my eye.
  15. Does anyone know if the show likes to have triple stumpers? I've noticed more of them in the regular games lately, but thought it was because I didn't see many during the endless tournaments. But then there were some in Masters last night, which I didn't expect.
  16. Emily and Frank sure are telling a lot of people about their secret investigation, though. It seemed like everyone in the office knew about it. Has Emily's over-zealous assistant disappeared?
  17. I am in 2 book groups and we never fight like that!
  18. I love the idea of a cookbook club.
  19. Friendship code, I'm thinking. But even the mere acquaintance code. Decent human being code.
  20. What is the episode number? I might try to track it down because I can't remember for sure, either.
  21. I agree that Will and Angie have a dysfunctional relationship. I think he's also damaged and dysfunctional, though, too (Angie isn't the only problem). His attachment to her is over the top just like her ability to love is under-developed. I agree Cricket was a much better idea. I thought the "murder teen" killed in self-defense?
  22. I love my fax machine. Very happy that a fax machine saved the day. And yes, I was also very worried about the message falling on the floor! Betty looked very happy when Angie and Will started kissing.
  23. Charlie has disappeared? Did I miss something? Or are they only using her when she is fighting with Shaun?
  24. I loved that. I took a shine to Laura. If they decide to do more invitationals, 2nd chances, etc. I hope they bring her back.
  25. It's simultaneously terrible and also so realistic that they brought Maya back to show that there's no easy answer for her. It's such a TV thing to make it be all wrapped up and happy when IRL most kids in her situation do not get that kind of relief. One decent adult really can help, though, at least with some of the glimmer of hope and sympathetic relief angle. I hope someone sees this and takes Kemi for a model and uses it to help some kid they can't totally rescue. Likewise, with Alexei's story, even though they gave him more of a resolution, showcasing the domestic violence the way they did was something I respect. But the coach not keeping his guns locked up? Stupid, irresponsible, terrible.
