I had a different take. I figured that the delay in opening the door was because Joshua went downstairs to tell Elijah something like "hey dude, you need to get out of bed; they're here", and what followed were more or less stalling tactics and Joshua going back down to make sure Elijah was really ready for the cameras before coming up. Having said that, I think Elijah probably did ask, and Joshua did tell him, about what Solana looked like. OTOH, he did turn out to be a loser; he just never said he wasn't. Good for Solana to take a pass on this guy.

Heroes Of Cosplay - General Discussion
LoneHaranguer replied to David T. Cole's topic in Heroes Of Cosplay
Compensation for cast and crew is based on what the contracts define as a "season", so if the show is successful, the producers can go longer before having to pay anyone more money per episode if they cling to a traditional season of around 20 episodes, rather than have anything reflect how they intend the episodes to run. Were the ladies using bulbs or LED's for their lighting? You can get a lot more life out of a battery with LED's, but there's more to getting things hooked up right, and if you do it wrong, you'll kill the battery almost immediately, if things light up at all. -
How is a dance where the women dress and move like that appropriate for a six year old girl to be joining in? They should have montaged the first singer. I kept waiting for her to shift gears or do something to stand out, but she never did; if she was on The Voice, nobody would have turned their chair. Seeing the opera teacher doing her thing in no way made for a viable act on this show, but I liked the implied message; I have no doubt she can quickly teach almost anyone how to pass for an opera singer to the audience and judges on this show, considering what has garnered applause and praise in the past.

S02.E09: Things Which Have Never Yet Been Done

It's very Old Testament, where an eye for an eye is considered being merciful (maybe the prospect of having children made her go a little easier with him than the nun). -
S02.E08: Variable and Full of Perturbation

I'm sure they get accident victims all of the time who "got lucky". Startling would be seeing broken bones already well on the mend. -
He wasn't; he was getting an edge over the other players in collecting what the place had to pay out. It was like knowing that a slot machine would only pay out once enough quarters had been played, then watching and muscling in to be the one to play that last quarter.

The problem with the big magic is that it often relies on the OMG factor to sneak by something that isn't executed very well or isn't really much of a trick to begin with. I still remember when David Copperfield "made the Statue of Liberty disappear". There was enough light from the city reflecting off of the curtain that you could see the cloth flapping in the breeze. OTOH, some of Smoothini's tricks defied explanation.

It could be humorous if Nana starts to open the wrong door while looking for the bathroom and doesn't see anything, but it's enough to derail things. I can fanwank all of the way to them being in the room together, but not to that final scene, so I hope there's a reasonable (in-character) explanation forthcoming next season.

This show is pretty stale, but I have to admit I laughed when Jarrod did the typical "what's this over here?" that usually leads into a commercial break only to immediately answer "rat shit".

S02.E08: Variable and Full of Perturbation

If they're trying to artificially direct human evolution, at some point they'd want to see how the genes they manipulated got passed down to the next generation. May as well take advantage of the "failure" to get some information ahead of schedule. Even if they don't ever intend to create a fertile clone, how the genes got passed along would probably tell them something. -
Do you mean as in Farrah walks in on Liam and Amy, or that Liam gets to check off "lesbian" on his scorecard and Farrah finds out what happened later? There's still time for Liam to turn out to be too drunk to perform.
-
It's not all sob stories; some of it is just gimmicky filler. There's no reason to feel sorry for the singer/keyboard player whose father had never seen him perform. He could have gone up to visit any time, maybe for his dad's birthday. It was insurance against getting buzzed, but I don't think the producers would have gone along if the guy sucked.
-
Very likely they would have figured the "waiter" was helping her get upstairs. Assuming it was a reputable catering company, nobody would have seen any impropriety in that.

From what I was able to google, you can still have those internet cafes as long you operate them the right way, but that just makes it tougher for the cops to find and do something about the ones that were banned. I saw a news report saying that two dozen operating illegally were busted in a sweep at the beginning of this April, which would have been between the time of filming and the "two months later" followup saying that Adam wasn't working at that "job" any more. I'm estimating they filmed this in late February or March, based on the weather and date information in a couple of other episodes this season.
-
I think the first thing Liam would say would be an apology to Amy, leading into telling her that he broke up with Karma, and some bonding over their mutual dislike over how Karma's been acting. Amy was drunk enough for Liam to offer help getting inside, which Amy would accept. I really wish the bedroom scene had made it clear what followed was (an impulsive) Amy's idea.

Not really. I think the producer wasn't satisfied with Adam turning out to be an immature loser just pranking guys when he had nothing else to do, and John taking the reveal in stride, so he cooked up something involving Ellie. It looked like Nev was feeding the story to Adam and to Ellie the group was just a bunch of folks to chat with while living in the middle of nowhere so she didn't really care. I don't recall if it was Max or Nev who said they had enough footage heading out of their initial meeting with Adam, but he was right. I would have rather seen more hotel room filler than them force a formulaic ending. Somebody needs to fire that producer because he's obviously not on the same page as those who decided to mix things up to keep the show from going stale. There are tons of very low skilled "IT guys", not capable of doing anything beyond the level of unpacking a PC and getting it to boot up or following a troubleshooting checklist. According to a syndicated sex/relationship advice column, some are interested, but you should never ever do it unless/until asked. At least he was smart enough not to include his face.

It's not unknown for a girl to do a little "prep work" to make her first time a bit smoother. With how cool Karma's mom is, I'm sure Karma wouldn't have even had to go to the internet. Amy, with a conservative mother, and getting together with Liam on the spur of the moment, yeah, she's likely in store for a rougher time, even though Liam has an incentive to make sure his partners enjoy themselves as much as possible (at least if he wants to keep getting any girl he wants).
-
So, after her "how do you know if you haven't tried it" comment to Karma, might it not cross a (drunken) Amy's mind to check out what made Karma so sure? If 16 and Pregnant can routinely feature real-life "underage" couples, why should it be a concern of producers of a show with fictional couples? Why was Amy's mother so upset about Karma and Amy dancing together? You see girls dancing with each other at just about every wedding reception; even high school girls attending with boyfriends will sometimes dance with each other while their guys are off having a smoke or whatnot.
-
Besides being someone who believes in honesty in relationships, Liam is a guy accustomed to having any girl he wants, and from his POV, Karma lied in order to get him to sleep with her because he otherwise wouldn't have.

Sheldon/Amy: Are you digging the Shamy?
LoneHaranguer replied to Midru's topic in The Big Bang Theory [V]
After Amy says something like "I have genitals. I have the potential for sexual arousal.", Sheldon responds with "A cross we all must bear. You know, in difficult moments like this, I often turn to a force greater than myself.", which he explains by talking about Spock and Kolinar.. After Amy disses his suggestion, calling Star Trek "cheap science fiction", Sheldon tells her he's using Kolinar to suppress his anger at her comment. -
Except maybe the Asian dancers. Some of the direction made no sense at all. When they're making those big patterns with their fans, why would you focus in on just a few of the dancers in the middle?

S02.E08: Variable and Full of Perturbation

Even though he's the one who made the breakthrough and could reproduce the work from memory, something like that would be a lot easier with his notes. DYAD was searching for them because they lost their copy in the fire. I doubt he trusts DYAD that much. What's on the disks is probably not anything they can interpret without his help (or possibly the book Kira has). -
I thought it was somewhat entertaining that the catfish was such a moron. Like nobody's going to notice online activity from somebody who's supposed to be dead?
-
I don't think it was as big a deal for Tracie as Nev tried to build it up after she first met with him. I wouldn't be surprised if her first contact with the producers opened with something like "my agent says I need exposure if I want to get more work and I have this story you might be interested in".

S02.E08: Variable and Full of Perturbation
LoneHaranguer replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Orphan Black [V]
From his POV, there's nothing critical on them. He knows what they did. DYAD doesn't want their proprietary genetic material propagated outside their control. It's easier to do that by making the clones female, and that also makes it easier to get exactly the "product" they want. Once they have created an X chromosome with the right genes, they can just use a copy to build the zygote instead of having to create a Y version. They couldn't use just any old Y chromosome if they want the clone to come out right.
