I tend to feel the same way. I don’t think Sonny has the same unwavering faith in Jason that Carly does nor do I think Carly’s belief in Jason comes from a rational place. They’ve had times where Jason has lied to him or been against him in the past. Granted, it’s been a long time since they’ve played that beat between them but the precedence is there.

Spoilers and Speculation: Clink Boom and Cheese Fondue

In a little surprised that LW is flat out spoiling entire scenes though. Normally, those SOD interviews give a little about the setup and tease what’ll happen. This is the second time in a week that’s she’s spelling out the entire scene and outcome along with dialogue -

Do they think it’ll make it less obvious that Carly only thought of Drew as a placeholder if he’s the one who ends things because that’s been apparent from the jump. Though, I will say that’s one of the few rings true about this Drew that’s in character with BM’s version. He also dumped Sam after Jason’s last return because he could tell he’d always be the second choice and didn’t want to deal with her indecisiveness. -
I know the show mostly ignores the connection these days but Molly is Sonny’s niece so the Sonny connection was there no matter who the surrogate was. It made TJ sound clueless but as usual, he’s probably just looking for an excuse to judge Kristina and make it obvious how much he didn’t want her to be the surrogate.

The show treats poor Rocco like an afterthought. First he got no POV about Lulu while Charlotte got to say goodbye, an onscreen visit and multiple scenes taking about her absence and now Danny sneaks out to check on Dante while Rocco elected to stay home and be there for Scout.

I’m finding KM’s acting to be blah. This is the first time in like 4 years that Sam has gotten heavy focus and material that wasn’t recapping or playing the happy girlfriend and she’s so flat. She’s never had problems playing emotional and angry scenes in the past so not sure what’s up

Idk, I never really saw it that way because Jax and Carly fought so much about Jason and the danger he could bring to their lives. Especially during that era when Sonny was out of the mob and Jason was the head. That was what ended them more so than Sonny because the mob danger was always a nonfactor for her until she was looking for someone to blame for her crappy decisions. Sonny and Carly weren’t together at that point because Sonny didn’t want to be. He was the one who ended things

I don’t think you are because the show goes back and forth on it. When Drew decided to take the fall for Carly, he pretty much told Sam it wouldn’t be a big deal because he hardly sees Scout and she wouldn't miss him. Also despite all the bellyaching about missing time with Scout because of evil Nina, he volunteered to take that ELQ trip to Australia in place of Michael because it was more important for Michael to spend the holiday with his kids.

I have so much disdain for that summer of 2006 and yes, multiple characters were thrown under the bus so Jason could be treated like the victim. The way they acted like Jason was being cheated on by Sam when he had already dumped her and had been having an emotional affair with Liz for months leading up to that was something. Also, downplaying Alexis’ story when she was the one who did get cheated on and betrayed by her husband and daughter right after finding out she had cancer. I don’t think Alexis/Ric should have been part of they SL at all but Guza hated both of them so he was being petty and Jason could never be in the wrong so he couldn’t just break up with Sam to hook up with Liz. They pick and choose when they want to do that. Notice how Jax was never written as a deadbeat and Joss says she was regularly visiting him in Australia. The kids are barely on so no reason that they can’t occasionally mention them being off visiting Lucky. Heck there were times where Aiden was said to be off at some school trip to explain his absence in scenes he should be in.

I don’t think LW and SBu had an ounce of chemistry in 2021 and part of the reason they got the hard sell with dialogue was because their chemistry was so painfully bad. I don’t think that’s going to change. What’s worse is the actors know that they were unpopular. LW was on SBu’s podcast last year where SBu joked about their pairing only having 2 fans and LW gave a laundry list of excuses as to why she thinks fans didn’t like them together.

FWIW, I don’t think he treated her well all of the time. The way they started them up was disgusting. Franco was essentially stalking her and saying how he should date her because all of her kid’s were fatherless and she was the town parish too whether she thought she was or not so they were the same. He negged her quite a bit and made her believe she didn’t deserve anyone better. I don’t think he was ever the ideal partner- they just used her kids to sell that pairing. All of them had their moments where they were closer to Franco or could only open up to him and ignored the kids’ relationships with their mother. The running theme was that they were all so desperate for a male figure and no way could single mom Liz be enough for her group of boy children. Notice how they’ve completely gone back on that after he died. There were a ton of red flag moments when they were actually together as well. Liz when she was with Franco was her most annoying time for me. She was insufferable about how everyone thought he was trash and would get in people’s faces about it screaming how he was a good person.

I think that they’re having Sam appear standoffish because she’s been in denial about Dante being in a dangerous line of work. They done those SLs in the past with a cop character’s SO being worried about them getting hurt at work or in a dangerous situation but Sam’s pretty much been in her bubble about how Dante is the safe choice and not super worried when he’s working.

I like Ava but she’s someone who should remain single. She rarely has the upper hand in relationship and almost all of the guys she’s been with are toxic or problematic. Morgan, her daughter’s barely legal ex, was probably her best relationship before she cheated on him which is really saying something.
-
Yeah… Ava isn’t playing Sonny. She’s pathetic
-
I’m calling it now. Everyone is going to be suspicious of Jason and he’ll only have Carly 100% in his corner because she’s the one who truly knows him. They’ll completely ignore the fact that Jason has been treated like a god for decades and hardly any of them have ever thought anything negative of him.
-
I don’t think the current actress playing Scout is bad but the character is a nonentity. She basically pops up every few months, usually when Drew remembers that he has a kid, and has like 1-2 lines and then either disappears or sits in the background. While I don’t mind that she doesn’t get heavy focus, it also means that she could also not be in the episode altogether and it wouldn’t make much of a difference.

Kids on soaps don’t interest me much but if they do feature them, I’d prefer they stick to the teens and skip the scenes with the younger kids/babies. At least the teens can have POV beyond look how cute I am.

Slightly OT but since people were speccing if MVJ was leaving Bold for GH, doesn’t appear to be the case. Good for her though!
-
I also think Sonny’s foray to Nixon Falls and Carly’s jaunt to Jacksonville show that both characters lift very easily out of the canvas despite being the leads. No one is that central to the show
-
FWIW, someone on Twitter asked him about his thoughts on what’s happening with Sonny/Nina and he replied with something along the lines of he doesn’t dictate storylines and for the sake of his mental health, he stays out of it. It’s quite a change in his response from 2021/2022 where he said that Frank knows what he wants to play before he even has to tell him. I think something has changed recently with either his influence or Frank’s not being allowed to cater to the actor’s whims/asking them what they want to play anymore. I don’t get the impression he was the only one doing it (other actors have made comments in the past couple years that have given me similar pause) but he’s the main one whose never had a problem saying it out loud or trashing SLs he hates.
-
Sonny’s debut on the show was before my time but whenever I hear about his early storylines, he was really the creepy 30 year old dude around a bunch of teens. Karen was 17, Robin was also underage and Stone couldn’t have been much older, Brenda was 18 when they first got together. Even Jason was only a couple years out of high school when the accident happened.
-
I’m hoping that Jason running off doesn’t mean they’ll leave Dante unconscious indefinitely so Jason can hide in the shadows and slowly reveal himself.
-
I’m now really curious how bad Chris/Dan’s plan was for Jason’s return because the rewrite and delay for this stale retread is something. I laughed when Jason ran off leaving Dante bleeding out well before the ambulance showed up so Dex and Joss could stumble upon him and be the heroes. Whenever Sam and Olivia share scenes, all I think is Dante must have a massive Elektra complex. The Sam/Olivia scenes were nice but it still irks me how much of a bitch she was towards Lulu for daring to move on and having the gall to have Rocco around her new bf yet 5 seconds after Lulu goes into a coma, she’s gushing over Dante and Sam and was the main one pushing them together. Suddenly quickly moving on and her grandson getting a new parental figure before dealing with the trauma wasn’t an issue. Shouldn’t Anna be running around trying to track down the shooter? I’m pleasantly surprised that the show acknowledged that Stone has basically been Sonny’s get out of jail free pass. Lord knows they throw his name out there anytime someone calls him out for being a crappy person. However, if Ava was being sincere and not playing him with her response, she’s done for as a character. No, Sonny’s ass wasn’t helping Karen. He was a predator. I don’t defend the show much but I do appreciate the longer scenes we’ve been getting and fewer SLs per episode. I always found those 30-45 scenes frustrating to watch.
-
I suspect he went undercover to protect Sonny. They’ve been pretty OTT with the dialogue about how Sonny has no one protecting him and Anna’s line about his guardian angel. In which case, yeah I do think he deserves blowback for letting his minor children think he’s dead. Will he get it, probably not, since he never gets called out for being a deadbeat and Sonny being his main priority has been a given for 25 years.
-
Unfortunately it’s only going to get worse now that Jason’s back. Anna and him investigated together a bunch during his last return and the show was even more into Jason cosplaying a cop than Sonny. He would constantly go into the PCPD and interrogate people and they would feed him info. There was even a laughable scene where he tried to offer a plea deal to someone for information, I can’t remember who at the moment.
