I would go for a JJ/Joy pairing or bring back Joe Johnson and pair him off with Joy. I mean as you said she's not related to most of Salem she has a lot of options.

Interesting casting choice(regardless of who he's playing) he used to be engaged to Arianne Zucker in the 90s. Now he's brought on and she's not welcome back. I did like him as Joe Scanlon though.

I liked Talia she at least had self awareness and owned her mistakes. However I liked her relationship with Jada because it gave Jada something to do beyond cop and a dead end to another Eric/Nicole reunion. That being said my point about JC is that while I don't buy Belle/Shawn with Martha and Brandon either I don't see the show wanting to bring Jason back. I also think it doesn't really matter who plays Shawn at this point because they already made up their mind how that character was going to go. An extension of Belle and not much else. This is not how I envisioned Shawn Douglas to be as an adult given who his parents and grandparents were.

Honestly I find it more believable for MM's Belle to be more morally grey than a source of morality especially given her conception. KS's Belle was more believable as sweetness and light when she was a teenager. Since adulthood? Not so much. It's why Belle is so dissatisfied with Shawn she has that darkness to her and it would be a great source of natural conflict with Marlena tbh. I do think it would've been great soap if Talia came back with Shawn's love child in tow as karmic payback for Belle being complicit with what Jada is going through. Then throw in a possible Shawn/Jada fling. That would be great soapy fun but probably won't happen. Why would Jason Cook return? It's not like Brandon is leaving. Although I did prefer Jason as Shawn I just don't see where you are getting he's returning. Jason/Martha didn't really have chemistry to me either. At that point I think they should've just committed to Shawn/Mimi(and I say this as someone who didn't really like Mimi most of the time).

It just dawned on me next Friday is Valentine's Day. That seems to be the only day that doesn't seem too bad as a whole based on these spoilers even though Days has had far better Valentine's Day episodes in the past.

I strangely think Phillip wouldn't do it given how he was around when Joy was born. Then again EJ's love interests were born before him and that seems to not have affected things.

You just reminded me of how he just had to write the story about the Hortons for the Spectator after the house burnt down. Never mind that this could've been Will who's a writer and a Horton(plus Lucas was there and we could've gotten some Will/Lucas scenes but of course not and I say this as someone that's not even a big Will fan tbh)

Like I said it's hypocritical but not surprising in the least however I feel like Marlena doesn't factor Sami into this for two reasons. 1) She repeatedly warned Sami about EJ for years and Sami never listened at that point Marlena knew Sami was going to do Sami regardless. 2) Sami is the only child of Marlena's that doesn't fawn or worship her and that definitely bothers Marlena which is why she doesn't really care for Sami's pain much compared to her siblings(and I say this as someone that doesn't like Sami either).

I think we're going to see that in the spring there was a scene with Hope wearing read talking to Julie on the couch about Bo and we haven't seen that air yet so.

I am not bothered by her reaction to EJ either but compared to Ben who has also hurt her family along with some others it's definitely hypocritical.

Jada/Belle being friendly is odd to me given what happened with Shawn/Talia. There should've been more awkwardness between them.

I don't think it's religious as much as regional because while I grew up in a Christian/Catholic town I didn't go to a religious school. However this reminds me of the type of sex education I received and I grew up in the Midwest where it's rather conservative. Now that you mention it, I don't know a male bachelor party on this show that was good although John's a few years back where they played baseball (off screen) seemed like fun. There have been strippers before Caroline was well known for that. She had some in mind I think for Carrie's bachelorette party before her first wedding to Austin. Then later on Austin, Peter, Jonah etc showed up and crashed the whole thing apparently Caroline was in on it and they put on a show for the girls. It was fun.

Days had some out there stories back in the day but they had the budget to match and knew how to provide an actual payoff. Trying to recreate it now with not even a tenth of the payoff yeah good luck with that makes me wonder if this story is what got him ousted.

So they're 9 months ahead? Well I will give Days this they have become pandemic/wildfire proof. I figure other soaps are going on hiatus at some point if not already and Days will at least have enough episodes without going the rerun route. Although I rather watch really old episodes of Days than the current show.

I prefer Rafe/Jada together as well at least you know he will actually value her compared to Eric even though she's way more interesting than he is. They at least act like an actual adult relationship. I found Jada being pregnant pointless because it was like for a day and it seemed to just be an excuse to split up Eric/Nicole(as if there weren't other ways to do so without dragging another interloper as collateral damage to that relationship).

Which is baffling since Nicole shares a kid with Daniel, Sarah's brother. I don't see why Eric couldn't have a kid away from Nicole. When Serena came to town(and how we were introduced to Xander to begin with) her big secret should've been she had Eric's baby not that stupid elephant story that went nowhere. Then when Serena was murdered by Ben, that baby would've been raised by Eric. Ben would've had some legit drama to deal with his therapist is the grandmother of the child who's mother he murdered. Eric and Marlena could've been at odds over it. The story writes itself and yet they did the opposite. Rachel should've stayed Mackenzie because that show acts like that time jump doesn't exist anymore might as well undo everything else (like Adrienne's death which was also pointless). Nicole lied for nothing. I don't like her being rewarded for raping Brady either because Kristen not being able to have the one thing she wants should always drive her when it comes to her villainous ways. It would be like rewarding Stefano with having Marlena and having a child with her. Just no. I do like the idea of the embryo switch would've great parallels with Kate/Phillip/Vivian who are still around (well Kate/Phillip). Plus it's up Days alley with bizarre baby stories.

ED's Kristen was fixated on Brady also but it was way more watchable than this version to me for a variety of reasons it also wasn't her complete personality either. When Marlena threw her out that window in Italy Kristen should've ended for good there (tbh in retrospect she should've just been stuck in white slavery in 1999 and never brought back). Instead they recasted the character and we've been stuck ever since. It's ok for characters who are villains to stay villains (Ava is another one but if I had to choose between the two, I rather watch Ava because she doesn't come across as a complete cartoon in her scenes).

I read that in Brady's voice lol. The problem with Rachel is that she exists in the first place. They should have kept her as Mickey or killed her off tbh. On paper a Bristen baby should provide great soapy drama and haunt Jarlena. This isn't the case at all to me at least even less so with John gone now. When were we under him?😘
