I had no patience for this ep. Fast forwarded through the fake love/spell stuff. Stopped now and then but it was as uninteresting as I thought. Especially since it started at one point and made us go back before catching up. I'm sure the cast had fun, though. Just wish there was a more interesting way for viewers to experience it. Also never worried about Diana and totally got Renard's lack of worry. At least Eve finally said something about Adelind having her baby. Even if she was under a spell.

In a cheaper market like OKlahoma, buying as big house as you can is financially stupid, when that is $1 million. A $500k house is plenty huge for two people and a couple of kids. Invest the rest. The only reason to do that was to feel important. P.S. Loved the little edit at the very end, where the show had the husband asking, almost plaintively, 'What do you think of the house?" to his guests. Indeed.

Wait - so what is the connection between whoever may be watching Carrie, and the van bombing? Why are they watching Carrie? And why wouldn't whoever is watching Carrie know who Quinn is? Also, why would watching Carrie have anything to do with the van bombing ... Sekou never went to Carrie's house. Watching Carrie was completely unnecessary for the bombing, since the feds knew who Sekou is and, presumably, where he worked. They could have set him up regardless of Carrie. I think his pals (well, the one guy) at his place of work placed the bomb, to get rid of someone they feel is a snitch and to create another attack. And I did think those watching Carrie were also tied to ME terrorism, though that guy Quinn saw doesn't seem to support that initial theory.

That's as far as I had made it in wondering about the long-term future of piracy. And then I wondered, could it evolve from there? Would that resemble feudal serfs, pledging loyalty with offerings (but all on the sea?)? Would a thieves code take hold and allow for societal growth? Dunno. I suppose you would have to have some pretty enlightened pirates. Which, to be fair, is what Black Sails offers us.
-
I do get it. I've posted before that I don't quite understand the pirate perspective. I like the whole "freedom and under no man's thumb" thing, but along with it comes a lot of lawlessness and unnecessary waste. I don't think civilization/oppression have to go together, nor does freedom/piracy. On this show they do, and so I don't root for either side beyond the individual characters who I've grown to know. But I get why it's difficult to choose sides. Neither are all good, nor all bad. While I know how "civilization" winning turns out, because history, I wonder how piracy winning would have turned out? Like Animal Farm? Or could it ever have won?

Except in the shots of them together, he was playing basketball and out exercising. His knee problem seems to be selective. If his knee issues are that severe, I would expect that to be true in all aspects of his life. I suspect he has other issues about stairs, tied to the fact it is a two-story house (which he doesn't like), than his mysteriously debilitating athletic career. This is all based only on what we can see, of course. Maybe he has a rare bone disease, for all I know. Wasn't she talking about a gas stove in that instance? That's what I thought I saw, though admittedly I might have missed it.
-
Ok, Mr Kansas, you're 33 and you already live in fear of stairs? You have a long road ahead of you. Also, classy calling the space your in laws lent you a dungeon. Bet they would like you to find a place ASAP. They are both special snowflakes. Though she tried to at least consider his interest in the final decision. They ended up with the worst of the 3, in our opinion.

I don't know why we were subjected to any of this D-level plot. First, I don't care about Ressler's unseen brother. Second, everyone around Ressler tells him it's practically a routine operation, his bro will be good. Three, they are right. I don't get the angst or the time spent on this. What's next, Liz weeps for her dog? If she can find it? I can't really keep up with who is connected to who while screwing Red. Oh - and I am sure this will doom us all, but Lizzy has been less annoying and more on her game the past 3 eps. What happened?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I've seen many more complaints about networks pulling show runners or main story arcs when they didn't need to, than complaints that networks didn't move fast enough to "fix" a show gone wrong. It has to be a tough call, and even on these boards, people have different opinions on when Grimm "went wrong."

You know what I can't get over? How few individuals are deciding all these battles. you have 10-20 soldiers vs. a similar number of pirates, and the battle is won or lost in Nassau. Same on the boats. You get one Hercules-type fighter and it's over. Yeah, agree, and no idea. In fact, I don't know why Jack later surrendered once Teach was caught. Yes, he may have hurt Teach or Bonnie if he had opened fire, but did he think Rogers was going to let them go? You have them outgunned. Take advantage. Give Teach a fighting chance.
-
Forgot about this. This guy just seemed like an adult frat boy to me. What was the connection to a boat? I admit I may have tuned out, once I realized he sounded like every frat boy I knew in college, but 10 years later.

OMG, more butt hurt. Joe because no one told him. Wally because he didn't stop Black Orchid. Half of every episode is people whining. Black Orchid makes no sense. Some of the things he touched were inanimate and not natural. They don't age, or they age so slowly the timeframe would be skewed. His power is more logically about speeding up time in a localized area, which creates the appearance of aging. Which, you know, would come in handy to beat Savitar.

But she IS batshit, driven by a need to be important. I thought that of her long before she joined Trump, and would appear on pundit shows as a "Republican strategist." The held hostage thing SNL started with was never on point. This skit was more accurate, though as someone who saw Fatal Attraction I found watching a copy less interesting than original writing.

Actually, for me it addressed something I had been thinking for years. Alex's head IS bigger. I will never get the obsession with Beyonce. She's talented, yes. So are lots of people. They should totally do chocolates babes on groups of famous people. Super Bowl teams, U.S. presidents, iconic actors.... those chocolate carvings were amazing.

In *every way* this is true. Cruises seem like a nightmare vacation to us. We went on a 3-day/2-night Mexico cruise as a test. There are far more economical and interesting ways to enjoy being on the water, without the crush of people and forced "party!" atmosphere in settings that are Vegas 1980s cheesy (or the contrasting "Relax, now!" vibe). In our opinion, anyway. I'm sure if you spend more, it gets nicer, but then you have spent more. Go charter a boat for a few days. BG has a built in advantage being a musician and performer. He can bring that to every marketing task for the jingle or performance.

S03.E12: Sisters Without Subtext
Ottis replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Fresh Off The Boat [V]
We're honkies, but we said right away that the two were different Asian backgrounds, though we guessed Thai for her sister. I didn't understand Marvin's thinking in this ep. Honey is far younger. Why the rush for the retirement community? Even without a young spouse, most people are in no hurry to get there. With one? What was he worried about? I could see it if he thought he would go in alone, while the younger Honey still enjoyed life "outside." But both of them? -
It was like looking for a home with Liberace. The pillow in their current home, with one of their faces on it, made us howl. ITA. That's what I said when they first walked up to it ... "looks like a city gov't office." I don't know how they got "wow factor" from that. Also, what was behind the high wall in the backyard? That's the role the buyer said he wanted the roommate to play, to keep him grounded. I agree those two guys, despite being frat bros, are at different stages of their maturity. Can't imagine they will live together much longer. We watched this ep right after the ep with the wealthy gay guys, and the juxtaposition of the older gay guys wanting "wow factor" and the 24yo frat boy with the colored kitchen lights was either humorous or ironic or both.

And he is upset because the reason Spicer looked weak, according to Trump, was that he was played by a woman. Oh, this should open the floodgates on SNL. SNL should have a field day -

As someone who has tried this approach since the election, it won't work. Those that detest Trump have zero interest in viewing his actions in any light other than "stupid moron racist greedy businessman embarrassment." Facts, numbers, whatever don't matter. Che's approach may be intriguing, but he'll never get people to actually think about his point. They hear "Trump" and immediately hulk out. It's been hugely disappointing, and I don't even support Trump. Interestingly, the TV pundit shows like Meet the Press have, over the past 2 weeks or so, tried the same approach. A few people have said specifically that it's important to separate out the "what" from the "how" with Trump and his amateur hour administration. That's a very good explanation of what made that skit so good. Though also, the fact it pointed out that liberals aren't as smart as they thought they were was worthwhile as well. None of us are as smart as we think we are and we need to listen and learn from others who have different experiences. That's a message SNL should continue to drive home, IMO. -
So we're seeing then the slow end for everyone on the show, correct? More stupid decisions, like Billy's and Max's in this ep, that further weaken them all and lead to the eventual demise. It feels sad to see it, and to paraphrase Flint ... "we are so close." The very thing you fight for is your weakness, and dooms you to the more orderly sweep of history. Argh (pun intended).

I can see some people liking them as a feature. For me, however, I would prefer the space be indoor. Now skylights, I'm all over. Dang it, I missed that. need to watch again. There's a good chance i'll agree with him.

S08.E15: The Kooler, Little Nomad, RinseKit, dbest Products

I didn't think 31 franchise attendees at their meeting was very many for a franchise. Don't growing franchises do that easily in a year or less? I'll have to see where they are. Never saw one before (I'm in the Mountain West). We had the (inexpensive) multi-color play mats. One of our kids drew all over some of the panels. And we didn't care. In fact, we joined her and drew a few things ourselves. Would hate to have cared $130 worth. The carts would be all about durability. Are they durable? Did anyone say? -
S10.E14: The Emotion Detection Automation
Ottis replied to TheOtherOne's topic in The Big Bang Theory [V]
ITA. I will never understand people who think it is OK to agree to have someone come stay with them and their SO for an unknown amount of time, without talking to the SO first, just because the someone is "family." That is not a legit excuse. You're two people now, not one, and truth is, some people might not like your family or friends much, or to have them stay for an indefinite period. Show some respect. Comparing it to the TV room was ridiculous. Penny knew about it, and she could have said no at any time. -
S42.E13: Kristen Stewart / Alessia Cara
Ottis replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Saturday Night Live
I don't think Che is wrong there. Certainly there exists a huge component to the protests (and among those who support them, and full disclosure, I marched in the women's march a few weeks ago) that opposes anything Trump does, because at this point to find any common ground at all is just not acceptable or tolerable to them. I was, however, surprised to hear Che say it. He usually goes the other way with jokes like that, erring on the side of the anti-establishment for whatever the cause is. Except maybe he doesn't get women's issues. I haven't seen any of that, however, does one lesbian always look as rough as Kristen Stewart did? That lighting did her no favors. -

Thank you. Clearly she has left no impression on me.
