Max finally said it... civilization has been winning for 10,000 years. Why do the pirates think they will fare any differently? Found this episode sort of boring, I think because the pirates were running in place. Again, all season we are watching our characters and their dreams die, one by one. Because... civilization. Also, anyone find it weird that the soldier who ended up killing Eleanor is the only one who arrives on the scene originally with no hat and flowing locks?

Good point. I may have missed that as I tend to multitask during Grimm. It raises the question of whether the TM understood intent, which I guess it didn't.

The bit where they are all contributing to the book was a nice moment, and perhaps foreshadowing. Nick is the Grimm who actually befriended other wesen instead of traveled the land alone cutting off their heads, and now has a fuller life than past Grimms. if they show that Nick has changed the wesen world through that action, and leave our main characters together, happily solving crimes and adding to Grimm knowledge as a team, that would be a nice series ending. Renard, well, maybe he ends up sacrificing himself at the end for Diana and the others, and everyone remembers him as a good guy. though I would be much happier if Eve bites the dust. Don't they all have mirrors in their cars? Are they driving around with their rear view and side mirrors taped? Turpentine. But I wondered how and why Tree Monster had the ability to know Rosalee had something (minorly) harmful in the car as she drove in, and set a trap/lay in wait to attack her? Why didn't it do that before the prior waste dumper had spilled half her truck into the forest?

I can see either side, because Barry was what, 11 when he moved in? if he were younger, say 6 or so, then there would definitely be an issue, IMO. The key would be how it was framed in the West household? Has the show had Barry and Wally refer to each other as brothers? Joe has talked about raising Barry as one of his own. The implication that Barry's addition to the family was through the family lens of "brother" is there. I don't recall references like "a family friend lived with us." On the other hand, Joe has seemed good with Barry dating Iris all along. So he doesn't seem to have a problem with it. Maybe Joe is into that.

I didn't realize that any place in the U.S. was as cheap to live in as Tulsa. The amount of house you can get there for <$200k is stunning to me, and I even lived in a Midwestern state for a few years. Those two buyers were definitely newbies, based on their comments and lack of parameters. I remember when I was that way once, back before HH ...

That doesn't matter. If you are raised with someone from a young age who is your sister, then that's your sister. There are all kinds of blended families. I doubt many encourage the blended kids who grew up as siblings to marry.

I'll never get Grodd as a villain. He just makes me think of Charlton Heston. Harrison's "confession" of his illness was ridiculously obvious as a ploy. Couldn't the Speedsters have quickly searched around the city for Grodd in seconds or minutes? Enjoy marrying your sister, Barry.

Young Tampa couple, who each had their own jobs, and also ran a coffee business out of their home, and also were into fitness, and the guy also built and races RC cars all over the country ... whew. Don't know if this one was new or a repeat (don't see any comments here, so maybe only new to us?), but they were possibly the most reasonable, normal couple we have watched on HH. In fact, when the episode ended, Mrs. Ottis said, "I don't have anything to nitpick." Our nitpick was the real estate agent's voice, which was that of a long-time smoker and/or someone who was ill. It was difficult to hear, almost sounded like our sound was cutting out. And what was up with the carpet in one home that seemed to blur on our TV screen? We have a pretty new and decent TV, and that carpet looked like it was soaked with water or something in every shot but one. Very weird. Our only other thought was that the homes seemed to be about $30-50k overpriced based on what we could see (we live in the Denver area), but maybe that's typical for Tampa, given it's a desirable place to live.

Monroe's dream actually answered a thought I had when Rosalee said she was pregnant, i.e., would a wesen Foxbau have a litter? I guess it's possible? I would be super interested in how the doc brings dead people to life, and its practical applications with bodies that are in better shape. Juliette/Eve was decent for about one season of Grimm. They really screwed up her character. I actually like Eve, who talked less and kicked butt, better - wigs and all.

Pirates preparing for the might of England wouldn't have stood a chance, either. Either the Spanish now, or England later, would win. Flint needed a better plan, and I kept hoping for it, but somehow the master strategist only thought as far as winning round 2. And his end goal was ... to get the British to leave? And then ... defend the island with one ship? I sure would like to know what his end game was, aside from a few months of relative, pirate-controlled peace.

Well, duh. I couldn't figure out why Flint thought that the English would leave and the war was over. Why assume no one would come back? You are left with one, repaired ship. The logic made no sense to me. The Spanish are just an added complication.

Another episode where Lizzie is a decent investigator and has a sense of humor. That's several in a row. The show is clearly trying to rehabilitate what has been a near useless character forced upon us because of her mysterious relationship with Red. I just want to know what brand of scotch Red drinks. He said scotch, otherwise I would assume it was Pappy Van Winkle whiskey.

Yes, clearly we can fan wank some explanations. My point was the show didn't address it. Why should we assume that every other mom has both less income than the new mom and a kid whose needs are so challenging that they can't be more organized at home? Maya briefly recognizes that the new mom is more organized, and therefore she and the other moms feel worse. But that's as far as the show goes. So it never addresses why all those other moms are apparently less together than the. new one.

I couldn't agree more. It made a character who I like into someone who was petty and vindictive. She could have used shaving cream, or thrown fish on it from a Chinese stew, or something less damaging and more shark-like. As for HL (who I couldn't place at first), age isn't kind to any of us. Except Marvin. If Marvin married the younger HL, then he does alright. Though Honey taking his tooth collection seemed out of character.

My least favorite plot lines are when characters pretend to be someone they are not, often to impress someone. This ep was full of that. Ray's was the most obvious example, but also, Maya's was, too, though in a sort of reverse way. It never answered the key question, which is "if the new mom could have it all together, why can't everyone else in the mom's group?" It wasn't so much about accepting that they all had it hard, or even accepting that each was the best mom for their particular kid. It was more around, why do you give up? I thought perhaps the new mom would be shown as barely hanging on, or never sleeping, or something detrimental to her. But nope, she just had it together. Kenneth, on the other hand, was awesome, while at the same time what he had going on when the moms came back would have looked terrible on the nightly news. The dads had early promise but took the wrong direction. It isn't so much that dads don't know what to do until their wives tell them. It's that dads don't really care about socializing with other dads just because they are thrown together at something like this. Dads have friends, too - just not these strangers who they have to know only because their wives are in a group. That would have been a more interesting angle ... how do dads who would rather be somewhere else manage to get through the evening together?

I enjoyed the Bangor couple, and the inexplicable air quotes. Whether the porch for kitty was seriously a must or just a preferred idea didn't really matter... a screened in porch is nice have. No one ever mentioned kids, did they? Not even in the future. Maybe the pets are their kids, now and forever.

Anyone catch Cisco's humorous phrasing ... they did Grodd's "damn, dirty work." He didn't phrase it exactly like Heston but close... "get your paws off me, you damn dirty ape." i don't know why any smart ape would ever beat Flash. I don't get Grodd as a villain. Barry grew up with Iris as his *sister.* Just like step siblings, or blended families. The two of them together romantically will never not be weird.

That's not real, right? Just hyperbole for humor? Because how would you know in advance when you wanted a fire? In S. California? Otherwise you would use the app and then ... wait? Peyton has that earnest, deadpan thing down.

I know this is a sitcom, but yeah. We couldn't figure out why Trent was doing that... it would just push the candy down into Eddie's lungs, not get it out. We get it was a plot device, but still ... threw us the whole scene.

It had been so long since it came up, I had actually forgotten about it. Silvers mention of it in this episode made me remember. I'm with you -brilliant twist, and it puts such a personal motive to Flint's drive to beat England. Silvers asks him the right question ... do you need to win for vengeance, or would you walk away, if you could have Thomas again? Similar to the discussion Jack and Anne had with Teach that led to Teach chasing Rogers - and that decision to delay vengeance didn't work out so well for Teach. Heck, no, it won't end happily. We've already been watching many of the major characters being killed. There's a good chance that almost everyone dies, except those in the background who blow with the wind (i.e., Max). This is off topic, but as someone who loved TWD for 3-4 seasons, and quit watching cold turkey, I can't resist. No idea what the comics say, but I quit watching because it was the same plot, over and over. Rick and team run into another group. There is always, always conflict. A few people die. No one really learns anything. And then they run into another group. Rinse and repeat. I gave up because I found it repetitive.

Heh, I heard the same thing. The actor actually starred in his own show a few years ago, which I loved but was cancelled, as an expert in nonverbal cues to solve crimes. I think he is British or Australian. On Homeland, I heard the "English" before I heard the 'Southern." I still have no idea what Dar thinks he is doing. Kidnapping the president-elect, in such an obvious way that the president-elect can see, cannot possibly be excused later. So is he some kind of sleeper radical? And speaking of, why did Saul basically come clean and tell Dar the truth about what Saul had just done while in the Middle East? Does Saul have no suspicion at all? Or was it strategic?

I actually look for and like natural light. If by that, you mean light from outside through various types of windows. Pretty important for me, as if I don't have it I feel closed in, like a cave. I don't view that request as egregious as "entertaining" and walk-in closets.

It's all about drama and mood, there isn't hypocrisy so much as intentional inconsistency to create drama on a TV show. They are inconsistent on a number of things. Sometimes they allow the puny humans making the pitch to politely ask if any other shark has an offer, other times they say "I'm out!" if you don't say yes within five seconds. Sometimes they go out, and then come back in. This whole episode overcomplicated life.

What do you think that? I'm guessing a lot of people who, as soon as they saw Spiner's name in the opening credits, knew exactly who he was. But "Data" is shorter to type, especially when I am standing on a light rail train texting on my cell.

If the warden called Data's bluff, it wouldn't have only been the bad guy who was killed. He can't say no and cause the death of a dozen people. I forget what the point of this show is. I did enjoy Red's comment about waiting to see how the painting turned out before deciding whether to kill the painter.
