  1. I'm in my rewatch and have hit my favorite season - number 4. So many great things but I forgot that this season was the season of Richard & Emily's war with their neighbors the Richmans, they of the king-size Halloween candies and 6 foot tall roof reindeer. Love it.
  2. The ladies went to a flea market once (Sam buys a naked man statue) but we never see her buy the necklace. She does tell the story to Miranda when she's in Paris.
  3. ...and that right there is the main reason I disliked them. They were just too precious for words.
  4. My adoration for Lauren is so great that I was willing to believe that her face was caused by naturally aging. Sigh.
  5. The writers felt that TJ alone wasn't fulfilling the obnoxious factor? That's all I got.
  6. Yeah .. I adore Lauren but wow. I know she is just shy of fifty and it is normal for looks to change over time but heavens. Her looks are extremely jarring. It really looks like there was work done.
  7. I adored Sookie but I agree that her nonsense in the kitchen would have sent me screaming from her as a possible business partner.
  8. No, no. I always loathed the idea of them as a couple. Yep, Luke is a deeply unpleasant person with anger issues. Aside from punching Chris and the fight between them, there was also trying to beat up a 16 year old boy and beating up the car of his estranged wife's boyfriend (which got him arrested.)
  9. The only thing I have liked about this show thus far was in the second episode. After the horrible hospital room scene, it was great to hear Talia Balsam say that she had been on Robert's side when she found out Francis was cheating. Too often in shows like this the women whole heartedly support whatever selfish decision the friend makes, when the man doing it would be castigated. That was nice .. until Robert shit all over his ally.
  10. It's funny - I started LOVING Stars Hollow and all the townspeople's quirkiness. But by season 7 the schtick was so tired and NEVER STOPPED that I found myself agreeing with Christopher when he said that :)
  11. I will agree that SJP can be good in earlier work. But - and perhaps it is just me! - it seems like as soon as she started playing Carrie Bradshaw, she was only capable of playing every character like Carrie. Almost as if Carrie is now the actress instead of SJP. Taking Francis, from Divorce, she has the same rhythm of talking, the mannerisms. For example: when she is talking with Robert in the bedroom about how sorry she was for cheating, there were the same pauses and hand gestures as when she was doing her speeches to Aiden in SATC. Did anyone else get deja vu there?? I honestly can't remember ever thinking this about another actor ...
  12. While I think the back of that green satin skirt was idiotic, I agree that overall I loved that outfit. Not just because, as you mentioned, the white shirt balanced the cha-cha ruffled back, but because the color of the skirt was beyond gorgeous, and because SJP, whose looks I've never been a fan of at all, looked truly lovely in it. Her legs were shown off to perfection and the whole outfit was tailored beautifully.

    Season 2

Mmmmmmm ... Burgers and milkshakes. And Satan's starchy fingers. I'm so glad that it's dinnertime.

    Season 2

Other than Al's, Luke's and Weston's, there is also a pizza place and that place where Lorelei and Max got food on their first date. I'd be intrigued by Al's international nights!
  15. I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion but I'm not sure where else to put this. I'm doing my rewatch before the revival and I just have to say, a majority of Lorelei's clothes are incredibly tacky. All the rhinestones and animal prints. The handkerchiefs on the head. The polyester pants (I'm in S2 and she wore a pair of brown, bellbottoms with slits up the ankles with bedazzled flowers up the slits on her final date with Max). Her work clothes are better but I have seen many a pleather piece there. Horrors.

    Season 2

If I was driving through Connecticut, I would absolutely insist upon stopping at Stars Hollow. I mean the shopping alone! How many small towns boast such a vibrant downtown?? Book store, vintage clothing (seen in S1), the Chat Club, and a diner. I'm a sucker for diner food. And yep - Lorelei's superiority was absurd given well, everything in her life.

    Season 2

I soooooooooo wanted to mention all that about the Dragonfly, but wanted to be sure to keep everything on S2!!!! Lol Every sentence you wrote? Went through my head :D Actually, now that I really think about it? All of Stars Hollow was a giant Cheshire Cat. All of those idiotic festivals (except the Living Art. That was sincerely cool)

    Season 2

I just started my rewatch in anticipation for 11/25 and am at Road Trip to Harvard. I've always ranked this one LOOOOOOWWWWW in GG episodes but I was struck today by something that hadn't ocurred to me before. Lorelei and Rory make a lot of fun of the look of the Cheshire Cat B&B ... but really, does their house decor look much different? Pot meet pot.
  19. I guess if I was faced with something that might upset my spouse, i would always go with being upfront about it so at least I wouldn't be hiding something AND doing the thing that would cause the upset.
  20. I agree completely with that statement. The issue with hiding things, especially small things like this letter, is that it makes people wonder what other things are being hidden. It makes Lorelei look like there was a reason to hide it. Being open with your spouse has nothing to do with being manipulated, it has to do with being respectful, of your spouse and of your relationship.
  21. I was never a Luke/Lorelei shipper and have been reading the back and forth about the letter with interest. I fall in the camp that she only should have wrote the letter had she told Christopher about it. The letter in and of itself is not the problem. It was the hiding it that made it appear worse than it was, especially as it was for the man she had been engaged to. The man she was with JUST before her husband. When you add in her unwillingness to compromise in her new life, the townies' less than welcoming behaviour and everything else, you have a situation that ends up messier than it ever had to be.
  22. Amen to all that. Many moons ago, I got an almost full scholarship to a seven sisters school while I got a letter from my state university stating that "while I demonstrated financial need" they could only offer me $200/semester.
  23. We just watched the first ep On Demand. It is not a good show. There are humorous parts here and there (mostly thanks to Molly Shannon) but Frances is highly unlikeable. Is it written into SJP's contracts that her characters have to be completely repugnant?
  24. Based on that prom dress/gang head kerchief ensemble, I'm going to go with no.
  25. Since I am that previous poster I will expand. Whether you think he earned the title or not, Christopher was Rory's father. If she had to fill out paperwork, he was the man listed. His was the name on the birth certificate. He is legally, HER FATHER. Luke was the guy her mother dated. The guy she married? Was Rory's father. When Rory went to college, she didn't keep in touch with Luke except through her mother. Who was she seen texting to? Oh yes, Christopher. Her father. Not Luke. The show tried to change things up here and there and create something between Rory and Luke on occasion but for the most part? All their interactions were connected through Lorelei. Hell, Luke was more of a father figure to Lane and Zack.
