  1. I cant really place the voice, given that he was a NBC guy and that he was well known for a game show more than a soap.
  2. I don't ask this question, but who's this NBC announcer subbing for Mel Brandt on The Doctors in 1970? I think it is Bill Wendell, who was David Letterman's announcer, but cant be sure.
  3. The Doctors, to my knowledge, dint have copyright on the logo either
  4. I was thinking Sisters as well. Last time I saw that show was on SoapNet, in the early 00s.
  5. A lot of times, I'll watch what I have downloaded of The Doctors or Concentration- and both shows seem predictable. The dedicated staff of Hope Memorial Hospital, Madison, USA, can do all of their professional duties and still get home in time to cook scrumptious meals with no household help. They work full-time and have invisible/little seen babysitters for their minor children. They get to take long breaks and chat with their friends over endless cups of coffee. They can open up a new department or position without funding, permission from the hospital board, or even much time!! One day they are going to do it, the next day everything is settled in. You can get a loved one a job at Hope, even if they have been out of the medical profession for years and don't even need to take refresher courses or even renew a license!! On the other show, it seems that the contestants call out numbers and Trebek says "no match" a lot.
  6. Bill Wolff, who announced for for Another World from its debut in 1964 until (I believe) some time in the '80s. Hal Simms, who did a few soaps for CBS. Harry Kramer, who did "Theeee EDDDDGE .... of NIGHT!" I can't remember his name, but the guy that announced Guiding Light for years. Dan McCullough (ATWT).
  7. My grandmom once saw a country music group called the Whites. The lady that was the lead married Ricky Skaggs, and he was also in the group that night, so it was the late 70s at least.(note my avatar: it's the the full figures opening of The Doctors, a soap opera.) Maybe they were with Emmylou Harris, because my grandmom saw her once. Maybe The Whites were the supporting act.
  8. Mel Brandt, who was the announcer on the soap opera The Doctors.
  9. Actually there was another TD logo, used from 79 to 80. Did Mel Brandt's announcement vary. The one I've heard has been "The Doctors will return in just a moment" but wasn't there another variation "And now The Doctors..." followed by the Colgate-Palmolive logo? or did the C-P logo always air no matter what? And also, when did Mel Brandt retire from The Doctors? Was it when this theme retired, or was there a period with no announcer over the theme?
  10. Mine were from daytime TV- Rod Roddy, Jay Stewart, Gene Wood, Jack Clark, and Bill Wolff.
  11. The most angriest I've ever been was when Frankie Frame was murdered on Another World. I was so mad that Frankie was beaten and strangled to death before my eyes... I was so angry that Another World fired Alice Barrett.
  12. My grandmom always liked The Doctors opening sequence back then. The Another World intelrocking rings were another favorite of hers.
  13. Rachel tells Alice on Another World that Rachel is the father of Steve's child at the engagement party! Dotto is canceled without warning in 1958 over the quiz show scandals.
  14. the funniest moment at least to me was when Tina accidently said Cords name during her wedding to Max. I thought it was funny.
  15. Another one, which i remember from watching On Scene: Emergency Response (with the late Dave Forman) on WYFF on Saturdays between 1990 and 1994(Ben, note that WYFF is n Greenville SC, but their coverage area goes into Asheville NC) Of course, i can't leave out this one, from the original American Gladiators(with Mike Adamle). Actually 2 of them from AG
  16. To add to my own post, Bill Wolff retired before the "cursive title" graphics were introduced.
  17. I don't think AW had copyright till sometime in the 80s.
  18. I remember that when i was little- the late Bill Wolff would always say "Join us each weekday at this time for the continuing story of Another World" before the PGP logo. That along with the late Jay Stewart saying "Sale of The Century is a Reg Grundy Production" over the gold "RG" logo were two of my favorite signatures of daytime TV.
  19. Here is one that i do remember from watching Another World...
  20. I loved Carmen as Iris too. I think of her in the church after Mac's funeral on AW and her crying.
  21. New here, my granny was watching Days too when Susan Martin's (played by Denise Alexander) baby, Dickey, died, watching her on the floor beside his crib, reaching through the bars and sobbing. My granny watched AW too. Robin Strasser as the bitchy Rachel! And there was the organ music too.
  22. In the good old days, soap operas had sponsor tags, at the start, at mid-break and sometimes before the end credits.
