  1. My grandmother used to watch Another World. 😀 And she heard Mel Brandt say stay tuned for Another World in color. My grandmother, with all the work she had done, got enough money so she could watch it and The Doctors in Living Color.
  2. Kellie Martin on Life Goes On, during the storyline where her boyfriend, was HIV. There would be scene after scene where Becca was crying. Kellie showed so much emotion, that i'd started crying with her. One such ep was where a feverish Jesse(Chad Lowe) collapses in extreme pain at school and is rushed, unconscious, to the hospital. Jackie Zeman on General Hospital is another good crier too. And were both ABC shows!
  3. Jada Rowland as Carolee on The Doctors is quite cute too. Yet another reason to sit with a woman like her at night.
  4. Jonathan Frakes and Lauren White on The Doctors. Lauren White is one of the most cutest actresses on a soap.
  5. I remember watching this ep as a very little baby. That was one of the first TV deaths i saw. Bonnie Bartlett as Ellen grieving over her son's death was quite chilling. I remember watching this on TV Land too in 1996 as a middle school student, and i could understand why Bonnie Bartlett as Ellen was grieving over her son being killed.
  6. And on The Doctors(soap), not just Lauren White, but a pre-film star Kathleen Turner cry a lot. And Jada Rowland and Jennifer Houlton.
  7. As i said earlier, i like a host who doesn't act like that. Like Jim Perry on $ale of the Century or Bob Barker on Price is Right.
  8. I'm pretty sure that Sale of the Century showed the copyright at the start of the credits, which was unusual in that era- in 88-89, they would they would show the $otC logo w/copyright, then the "following companies have furnished prizes" then credits would start. I'm assuming that Don Morrow would say "this is Don Morrow speaking" over the "Videotaped at NBC Studios, Burbank California" part, then Don would say "Sale of the Century is a Reg Grundy Production!" over the RG logo.
  9. I grew up in the last, dying days of game shows- especially in the era where you could watch "Sale of the Century" on NBC at 10am, then switch to CBS and watch "The Price is Right" at 11am. Oh, i watched "Classic Concentration" before Price then.
  10. Something that i noticed while watching Sale of The Century, was that as the closing credits scroll by, Don Morrow says that "$ale of the Century stars Jim Perry, This is Don Morrow speaking." It just seems to be an odd pronouncement from out of the blue. I wonder why that was done?
  11. Don Morrow, who announced on Sale of The Century during the Winner's Big Money Game era. I feel that he was much better for the show than Jay Stewart.
  12. Not to metion that Sale of The Century was at it's best during the shopping endgame. While it might be a bit boring because since it's so much of Jay Stewart reading ad copy, it was much better than the Winners Big Money Game that they used from late 87 to 89. The Winners Board was pretty good mtoo.
  13. If you watch Wink Martindale during his run on Tic Tac Dough, or Jack Barry during his run on The Joker's Wild, you'll see how a show *should* be hosted. Same thing with Jim Perry on Sale of The Century.
  14. I'll admit, the one game show personalty i could not stand, when i was younger, was Patrick Wayne on Tic Tac Dough(1990 version). He did suck big time, simply because of his constant yelling of "YOU'RE RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!", "YOU BLOOOOOOOOOOCK!" and, most humiliatingly, "YOU WIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNN!" But in recent times, i've softened my stance on him, simply in watching those eps, he wasn't as bad as i thought! On the other hand, Pat Finn was pretty good on TJW 90. The only strike against him really was him droning "First definition... last definition" over and over which did really got boring.
  15. What about the 1990 version of Joker's Wild? Last time i saw that, before YouTube was on USA Network.
  16. Something that isn't TV related, but is to a certain degree- during game 6 of the 1986 NLCS, color commentator Tim McCarver left the booth during the bottom of the 16th, in order to cover the expected celebration in the New York Mets' clubhouse. As a result, play-by-play man Keith Jackson was on the air by himself for a short time. I remember my dad sitting in the living room wondering why no one else was talking besides Keith Jackson at that point in the booth.( i remember this game, because it preempted the local news, then preempted World News Tonight, then preempted Wheel of Fortune.
  17. A couple from the soaps... Jada Rowland as Nurse Carolee Simpson on The Doctors. James Pritchett as Dr. Matt Powers from the same soap. A non soap example would be Dana Delany as Nurse Coleen McMurphy on China Beach.
  18. If my grandmom was still alive then, she and i would have said the same thing. I mean, it was a shocking development.
  19. Oh yes.. I watched that ep on SoapNet and when Hope learned that her son was dead...i lost it too. 'NOOOOOO!'
  20. I've lost it a far number of times over characters on soaps dying. Isabella Beatrice Toscano Black on Days of Our Lives Megan on One Life to Live.
  21. I've got one from a soap opera, The Doctors, with Lauren White as MJ, after her husband dies... with Jada Rowland as Nurse Carolee Simpson, Philip English as Dr. Collin Wakefield and David O'Brien as Dr. Steve Aldrich. Does anyone have a favorite moment where a character cries over something(death, lost love, etc.)?
  22. Another thing about The Doctors; I like the new pop flavored arrangement of the Bob Israel 1971 theme, with a melody carried by vibes and electric harpsichord. I'd use that one, but have the voice-over be "The Doctors, a daytime drama series dedicated to the brotherhood of healing."
  23. The Doctors also had a orange version of the opening too
  24. I've always wondered about the "full figures" opening of The Doctors- Young and the Restless-influenced head drawings of each of the cast principals that would be arranged in a circle that represented an "O" in the word "doctors" in the new title modernized logo while the late Mel Brandt says "The Doctors will return in just a moment." Maybe they were trying to copy Y&R?
