  1. I did find it interesting that they didn't portray Edison as an absolute bastard, because he was. Or I guess you could say he was more about the PR and money than being the one to come up with the ideas. Tesla was a bad businessman though even if he was a great inventor. Somehow Tesla won the current war but Edison got all the good PR and is the one people remember and idolize and Tesla ended up broke and forgotten. I guess the show tried to balance things and be fair.
  2. Since the Judoon episode topic is closed for now: Next-time trailer from the BBC for next week's Judoon episode It seems BBC America played a trailer after the Tesla episode that was about several upcoming episodes. I don't know when or if they will put it on social media Also, man, these BBC next-time trailers truly suck. I have been told that the usual BBC America trailers right after an episode are from the BBC, which shows the longer trailer sometime after it shows the next-time trailer. The longer ones are definitely better
  3. This was a very enjoyable and fun episode Great period costumes in general and for the companions. Too bad the Doctor didn’t dress up Good stuff between Yaz and Tesla and Graham and Edison. Good confrontations between the Doctor and Queen Skithra The Doctor at her sciency best Good performances from the guest stars, especially Goran as Tesla. Jodie and the other regulars did well also. I thought there was fairly good chemistry between Jodie and Goran Also, I read this is only the 3rd time in Doctor Who that both the writer and director have been women
  4. https://deadline.com/2020/01/genius-aretha-team-unpacks-the-genius-of-the-legendary-singer-tca-1202834302/ Nat Geo announced the 3rd season will be a 4 night event, premiering on Memorial Day May 25 at 9pm and will air through that Thursday
  5. I started suspecting Street was undercover about halfway through. Glad to see I was right. I do wonder if Street really shot those robbers or that was a setup As for Deacon, he’s right to be cautious, but not for the reason he gave. Buck came off as a little too desperate for the deal to go through
  6. The Doctor Who VR experience The Runaway comes to Youtube
  7. The Doctor actually said she and Yaz were fizzing with "Artron energy" because of their time travels and the Doctor wasn't human so the aliens got confused. It was never explained why Yaz got transported to Australia in place of the alien prisoner, but I guess we're left to assume it was so the aliens could trade her for their compatriot
  8. Understandable. A young child might get easily upset over something an adult wouldn't think is an issue I think it was more too many guest characters. I think Hime might not be best suited to write for a 50 minute TV episode. His two Who episodes so far suggest a lot of interesting and complex ideas but he tries to cram too much into an episode and things probably had to be cut out. I felt the same way about It Takes You Away, as it felt like there was more to the middle section in the Anti-Zone that got cut out and it felt like 3 different plots going on between the first, second and third sections of the episode. I ended up liking the episode, but mostly for the final 3rd of it; the middle part in the Anti-Zone did little for me
  9. It's funny, I've seen some people criticizing it in part because the deaths were all off-screen
  10. The BBC's listing for Episode 5, "Fugitive of the Judoon" has this for the synopsis: Ko Sho Blo! Trigger-happy space police the Judoon are targeting 21st-century Gloucester. The Doctor, Yaz, Ryan and Graham race back to Earth in order to prevent them doing too much damage to the cathedral city. But who are they looking for, and what did they do to incur the wrath of the Judoon? The listing also indicates that Chris Chibnall and Vinay Patel co-wrote this
  11. I really enjoyed this. It was funny, sad, and pretty engaging, everything Part 4 wasn’t for me. I didn’t understand some things, but I got the main points and I’m sure things will be explained here. It will be interesting to see how the individual shows handle any changes and after effects
  12. I was underwhelmed by this and didn’t find it enjoyable. It didn’t really click for me until the last few minutes. I can’t really explain why it didn’t work other than I wasn’t really engaged by the “flashbacks” or people dropping in on them
  13. I’ve seen some suggestions of magnesium given the color She’s also Ben Fogle’s mom and some people online kidded she’s better known as that these days
  14. Ed Hime seems to like to overstuff his stories going by the 2 Doctor Who scripts he’s written. And it did have too many characters and too many plots going on. And it certainly has divided the fans. That said, I still enjoyed it in spite of its flaws. I especially liked the attack on the truck and the scenes surrounding that, and I liked the Doctor taking charge, particularly given the complaints that she didn’t do enough of that in Series 11. I thought Jodie was pretty strong in this episode
  15. Season 14 will be the next season released on Blu Ray https://www.doctorwho.tv/news/?article=season-fourteen-collection-bluray-range
  16. I appreciate that Kane was trying to terraform the planet and bring it back to life and of course, getting rich people to pitch in their money isn't a bad thing either. But, she was very, very wrong to drag in vacationers without telling them the real risks (assuming she hadn't already and that it was just Graham who didn't read the fine print); at least the Doctor called her out on that. The Tardis team was also stupid in agreeing to go on the vacation in the first place without looking into it first; maybe they assumed Graham already had. But all that was cut short when Graham accidentally put the teleport cube together and whisked them away
  17. Apparently so. Chibnall indicated in an interview that she hadn't said it before in Series 11, so we would hear her say it in Series 12 Of course, it doesn't necessarily mean much at this time to the team, but Graham did say he still had loads of questions. It was a short and curt autobiography and the Doctor wasn't really up to offering more information at that point given she was still hurting over Gallifrey
  18. Shame the Doctor isn't in period costume like the others
  19. Final consolidated numbers for Part 2 were 6.07 million with an Appreciation Index of 82. It was 16th for the week ending Jan 5 (which also included Part 1)
  20. I read somewhere that this was Bradley Walsh's idea, apparently having to do with his Cockney roots of shortening things or something Final consolidated numbers for Part 1 were 6.89 million viewers with an Appreciation Index of 82. It was 8th for the week (ending Jan 5). There were a few days of Coronation Street ahead of it plus a Fireworks special and Call the Midwife
  21. Some media reviews: The Guardian (positive) https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2020/jan/12/doctor-who-recap-series-38-episode-three-orphan-55 The Independent (positive, but rather cheeky about it) https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/reviews/doctor-who-orphan-55-episode-3-review-jodie-whittaker-a9277976.html
  22. I think that’s been an issue that’s been raised numerous times before; some fans have said it just takes longer. How much reach does the Tardis have in terms of being separated from the Doctor? Really liked Jodie’s sweater and her gloves. Made for a nice change of outfit Good to see the Doctor was affected by the low oxygen levels after a point. Time Lords may have an advantage, but they aren’t completely immune to low/no oxygen issues
  23. I thought this was pretty good and enjoyable overall, particularly for a “base under siege” episode, though it was a bit ragged in places. I can see this is already a polarizing episode though, especially for the ending. Ed Hime writes weird stuff for sure. It definitely was several steps down from Spyfall, but I expected that following a huge season premiere I thought Jodie did well and it was good to see the team again call the Doctor out on her mood. I enjoyed most of the funny lines and bits. As usual, the Doctor barges in to take charge and bark orders, though she and Kane clashed. I found the Dregs creepy, but not the scariest things ever. But as I said, I did get spoiled after the UK broadcast I suspect the Russian didn’t get translated, nor the Dregs’s speech, because the Tardis wasn’t there. The team was teleported away from it. Or does it work regardless of the distance? Of course, it might be a good idea in the future for Graham to better check out a spa offer The Doctor’s speech at the end didn’t bother me because she was speaking to her friends and trying to help them not despair and helping them to understand the future can be changed and how The actress playing the old lady is supposedly pretty well known and respected but I can check further on that
  24. Time Lords have telepathic ability, especially with each other. The talking was probably a shortcut to them just talking with their minds.
  25. I’ve already read the spoilers and opinions for this because I couldn’t wait the many hours to see it in the US. I’ll be back after I’ve actually seen it
