I'm assuming that since the episode is called "Reset" then things in fact are going to get reset somehow and there's possibly some backwards and forwards about that for narrative technique. Time loop type hijinks maybe or straight up "this went wrong and the monitor gives us a second chance" stuff. Possibly highly angsty if we get the Arrow rather than LOT version. Or maybe certain past events get altered pre COIE ala Baby Sara. I can't really imagine Oliver travelling around with a big Legends like team of him, Dig, Laurel, maybe Thea and Roy, Rene and Dinah etc. Even though it got pretty big at times in the foundry and bunker.

I think the Hawks were in a different boat because the whole show got retooled and they ended up with their pilot soulmate which clearly was never Ray. Ray hasn't had a full on love interest since really, except for a crush on Nora. At this point I don't really care if they stay with Sophie or go with Reagan or someone else entirely. I really get the frustration with the potential self sabotage with so much baggage for the pilot love interest straight away, the Arrowverse doesn't seem to learn. However I do think this character will be 3-5 and done. Dries seems committed to Kate and Sophie's "potent love story" right now.

I'm pretty sure she's entirely temporary, a Linda Park, a McKenna Hall, an Adam (Supergirl), lots of the one and dones on LOT. Dates the main character for a couple of episodes to give them a reprieve from their angst over their unavailable Big Love Interest and then is gone. The showrunner as good as says she's temporary so we see another side of Kate. Well Sophie is married and Kate wanting to move on and not get in the middle of that is actually a healthy thing. It doesn't sound like she's in danger of replacing anyone from what they've said. The only character who's definitely replaced a main OTP was Felicity who wasn't originally scripted as this kind of character at all and was brought back for many other reasons long before they committed to a complete change there. She could be single and happy with it, especially as she gets deeper into being Batwoman, but this is TV and the CWDC, it's pretty standard.

Well assuming it is Zoe that would explain why she isn't in the pictures of the FF kids BTS recently and why she's not a regular and wasn't announced as part one of the canaries for the spin off. I wasn't a big fan of Zoe but I'm kind of sad. I guess it's one of KM's favourites because it gives her plenty of dramatic scenes to do and connects the past and present Team Arrow if the press release is accurate. Diggle's son killing Rene's daughter is a gut punch even though I don't like Rene. As for "who she was killed off for" I guess we'll have to see the context of the episode and possibly the context of the back door pilot to see who if anyone gains. BS did say they hadn't changed anything for the spin off, if she's telling the truth it could just be that they wanted to be shocking in the lead up to COIE and Zoe was the easiest one to let go of in that group. I'm currently wondering if any of Future Team Arrow survive to ep 9 except Mia, though I think at least Connor does.

Since that's about all the investment it requires, I'm not actually surprised they renewed it. I was expecting it once they definitely renewed Outpost a couple of days ago. The show never got to "so bad it's good" for me and I wish it felt like more care was paid to the scripts than just handing out the first draft of a film school project 5 minutes before filming, but we'll see where it goes from here.

Social Media and Behind the Scenes: AKA Everything Else Not "News and Media"
Featherhat replied to Zalyn's topic in Arrow
Hah, I'm waiting for it. "Laurel and Mia have grown so close, just like Laurel and Oliver did in the final season so I think of Mia as a product of that bond.." And that's before you get into any convoluted theories re COIE and merged/alternate timelines and parents that just *might* happen, though not likely. I can see why she's dying on this hill though, apart from never wavering from Lauriver since the first season and her head cannons, it is what a lot of her fanbase want to hear and generates more interest than if she celebrated BS's bond with Diaz for example. 😉 -
Social Media and Behind the Scenes: AKA Everything Else Not "News and Media"

Like she thought Felicity/Oliver/Laurel were a love triangle and thought "Laurel's got this"? And her original character died right after Oliver broke up with someone so no chance of a reunion? Unless they're really gonna swerve after COIE or with the new spin off that just silly and a little sad. She had some great scenes tonight but that was over 7 seasons ago. They went out of their way to mention Felicity even though EBR is done. I guess she'll take what she can get. -
Kat McNamara was shadowing him this ep IIRC, maybe he stepped it up because of that? Wanting to put in a lot more effort. Or she brought "Directing for Dummies" with her.
-
Maybe, she's changed a lot of things to suit her needs. I'm wondering if they just didn't want to even go there now she's part of the team, don't want to give people ideas.

They must be the richest set of doppelgangers in the multiverse.

I hope so, but I'm making myself deliberately pessimistic and thinking MG at least wants the "don't blame me, I tried" defence when it doesn't happen. Oh well, we'll see. I guess it's still too early to know anything for sure. If I were to guess the credits this early, I'd say KM would be first and KC and JH would get the "with" and "and" prestige placing like KC does now. I think the current pilot is the result of mixing the 2040 spin off idea (showcased in Star City 2040) and KC's pitched BOP show. Plus the lure of gender flipping GA and having a GA/BC show but.....twist! I think it looks like Mia will be the central character (at least for now) but that doesn't mean KC or JH will have small roles. It might end up more like LOT but even if it's with a clear main character like the others doesn't make another role small. I don't think KC has been particularly mistreated. Some of what happened during Arrow's run was unfortunate for her - losing BC to CL originally and losing LI to EBR and getting killed off but none of it seemed personal and she was always invited back and it seems given most of what she wanted. Several other actors in the Arrowverse have had similar happen without always coming back. She's always clung on to the show for dear life so if she signed on it's what she wanted and I'm not surprised. If it doesn't go to series I expect she'll show up in guest spots in at least one of the other shows.

I know it's a common phrase but #thefutureisfemale clue?

Well, whilst he says "that's not to say we have had a no" it sounds like they might have had a no for the finale from EBR, but I've kind of let that go so I don't get disappointed. I think Zoe will be in it and probably JDJ too. As I said I will be frustrated if they work on setting up this baby team for 8 eps then ditch them to focus on setting up another team. I think it's a hilarious title. People have been asking for a Green Arrow and Black Canary show and it's finally here by name and the GA is ……...Mia Smoak. BC lost all meaning as a moniker a long time ago in the Arrowverse, the first one (Sara) made the role her own and the rest are pale shadows. Sara doesn't even use White Canary much but at least it's her own. GA still has some cache as a draw, more so than just being "The Canaries" and KM is just right for the CW. I do think it's a little amusing that both KC and JH are really, really excited about being BC this season. KC always seems most excited when she's BC and having scenes with Oliver.

It could well be set in 2020. We know crisis is changing things and she could be stuck in the past or a refugee from a defunct timeline. I just want to know how that ties up with Felicity's very good ending since we have no news of EBR returning. And I really don't want 8 eps of this new team learning and growing for it not to end up mattering or William not existing when Oliver and Felicity sacrifice so much for BOTH of them. Plus it does seem JDJ is going to be in it or thinks he might be and I doubt they'll all get stuck in the past. Shenanigans could also de age KC and JH.

I'm not wishing she would be replaced just yet, I'm willing to give it time to develop. My frustration is that they put a lot of unnecessary baggage on it from the get go, knowing they've had problems with that before and even knowing that yes, some of their audience don't like interracial pairings and will use any excuse. I get that dysfunction star crossed lovers is a popular dramatic trend and easy to write, but I'd have preferred either the Academy rejection still hanging over their heads or a husband, not both. It is a slight step up from sister swapping, I'll give them that. I also don't think they've had a lot of chemistry so far, not anti chemistry just not enough for me to like them despite everything. I really like Mary and her also hiding the truth about herself role. I really hope she finds out soon, that could be another step in the dynamic between the stepsisters. Kate's going to need her when she gets injured. Luke is still giving me knock off Curtis vibes and that's a character I came to despise, which is one of the reasons I'm not warming to him, sorry Luke. Sophie seems on the cusp of officially finding out, so I bet she won't this early for many reasons. Step mother Moira-ing it up? Potentially interesting. RS seems to be thoroughly enjoying herself as Alice and has really grown as an actor. DS is usually better than this but I'm not impressed with him as JK so far. RR settled into the role a bit in this ep. It was all an improvement but the show hasn't clicked for me so far.

CB is a good actor so he might be able to bring nuance but I expect to be highly frustrated with JJ reasons for turning Deathstroke, whatever they are. Slade's were never that great and the endless parade of people turning evil because of their parents in some way looses it's emotional punch after a while. Birthday cake being a prime example.

She could know for sure and is just couching it as "hoping for" to avoid spoilers but it does sound like she's vague on many of the details and it definitely isn't what she actually pitched. I assume that one didn't have Mia as the lead character for one thing. I hope she isn't with Oliver and Diggle all the time, though it seems she is for several episodes. I still got nope!chemistry between them when she was playing BS in the few scenes they've had together before. I'd rather have had Sara during LOT downtime, more of Thea or Mia via the Monitor or Nyssa (of course KL is busy) if they had to have a female member of the team now Felicity is gone.
-
Still curious as everyone is mentioning this "mind blowing" ending that changes everything. I was wondering if it was going to connect to something in the future but that seems unlikely as more than one review says there's no connection between the two storylines yet. Any ideas? They watch E2 get destroyed?

I know I should wait and see and a lot of dire predictions never come true but pronouncements like this kind of fill me with dread. Pretty Bird? Well it is an S1 tribute. Complete with referencing S1 Felicity it seems.

I really, really roll my eyes about the shenanigans surrounding that, especially Joe forbidding Barry and then Eddie "until you're her husband". But the Main Love Interest finding out is a big deal hence why most shows drag it out for a long time until the characters all seem idiotic and/or you're bored of the whole thing. And then there was the lovely lightening moment, iconic, which is what they were going for. I think they like Kamilla but they aren't really putting much thought or importance into this relationship, hence they've blown through a lot of development and milestones. She found out about The Flash early and it's okay because the character isn't very significant anyway. Barry has never been particularly careful of his identity, which was why Patty never getting the confirmation she begged for was an anomaly.

I thought it could be that if there are changes to the future it was something they'd always planned on with COIE upcoming. But it does seem increasingly likely that Connor will be in it at least, probably Zoe, although I suppose he/they might not be the version we already know. It also seems like Connor is in the crossover from the interview bits that @tv echo described. I'd like for Oliver and alt!Moira to talk about Felicity, that would be a good way of including her in the scripts naturally. Sad we never got to see her reaction when they got together or meet Donna, that would have been a battle of opposite wills.
-
It might be a very female focused show and KC and JH are fully equal main roles to Mia, but it doesn't have to be from what they're saying now. LOT is a very different beast to how it was first pitched. I wouldn't be in the slightest bit surprised if they changed the timeline but nothing in that interview really hints at it, just the "it isn't affecting how they write the 2040 storyline this season even though it's it's own beast" which could mean anything. If Connor is in it, it seems things won't change completely after COIE

It was alright. Very generic CW/Freeform mystery show. The only reason they used Nancy Drew as the name was for brand recognition as it worked for Riverdale, which this is clearly hoping to emulate in terms of success, even if it isn't the direct spin off. The sex scene was obviously there to make a point but I'm not sure why they bothered because the regular audience for the CW isn't going to be shocked full 5 seconds of fully clothed sex and ND fans that are probably aren't watching. Don't see why Ned is such a deal breaker out of all the names. I read an article about people calling their kids GOT inspired names so it's not unknown in 2019, not sure if it was on the list though. Enid Blyton writing in around the same time period did that too. One of her characters was Georgina who was a tomboy who preferred to be called George and another female character was Daryl, it pops up in other books as well so seems to have been a trend. As of now I don't really care whodunit, but I would like to see a bond develop between Nancy, George and Bess. Ned didn't make much of an impression one way or the other but I did like the actress playing Nancy, I thought she held the thing together fairly well, that VO script was very trite and could have gotten very old very fast.
