  1. Emeril always mentioned being from Fall River. I barely recognized Lenny without the cocktail napkin around his neck!
  2. Lenny: Carny folk! My people! There were some serious WTF moments in this episode. This: She was venomous then, and during the elimination, her lip was curled in the most nasty snarl. I mean, what the hell did Christopher do to her?? And also, what was that whole thing about Ruben apologizing for speaking Spanish, and Giada said something about "empowering that element"? I think that entire conversation must have been highly edited; it made little sense. My cable (it's Comcastic!!) cut out during Chris' presentation, so I didn't get to see his Obama impression. But it's sort of telling that the kudos went to someone who did an impression, someone who walked out in front of the podium and mentioned the rollercoaster, and someone who referred to herself as Butcher Babe. Cooking is very clearly a secondary consideration.
  3. Seriously! What the hell is up with that?? I've seen my cats leave the kitchen (tiled) to go into the dining room (carpeted) when they were heaving. After many attempts to get them back onto the tile before the bomb hits, only to be juked every time, I've just given up. I keep a lot of carpet cleaner on hand.
  4. You and me both. I also loved the one where he checks on the pasta and the steam plasters his shirt to his chest. Zesty.
  5. Well, in this way TV mirrors what I found in my own life. I was so glad when I reached an age where people don't bring it up any more . . . before that it was all the questions about when the children were coming. When I said "Never", I got told all the time I'd change my mind. Then when I started getting older, I started getting told I'd better be careful, I was running out of time to change my mind. Egads, people!! Now occasionally someone will tell me that 46 is absolutely not too old to have my first child, but most leave it alone. Thank heavens! Interestingly enough, although my husband was the other half of this procreation that simply HAD TO HAPPEN, very few people ever questioned him about it.
  6. They are absolutely not mutually exclusive. Provided that a woman is not defined solely as "a mother." And therein lies the problem.
  7. My husband and I had a discussion about Christopher last night. My husband likes him. I think he's a decent cook but there's something about him that just makes me think he's not TV material. I used Tyler as an example of my point - it's not Christopher's low key personality that makes him problematic for me. The best I can describe it is a lack of interest and enthusiasm for the subject material. Tyler is low key but he is enthusiastic about cooking. He really wants to show you how to make his dishes. You get the feeling from him that you can do it successfully, too, because he has a way of encouraging the viewer as he talks them through it. I just haven't seen that with Christopher. I have no doubt the man can cook, but I do doubt he can make me watch and get excited about trying what he's shown me.
  8. Upon reading that, a shudder like no other went through me. Also, I just wanted to add . . . Emma had the best tip?? Really? I like Emma, but c'mon, using packaged tomatoes when tomatoes are not in season is not a revelation. I put that right up there with "take the peel off your pineapple!"
  9. It monitors your movements and when it "senses" a fall, someone calls you. If you don't answer, I guess it sends out the National Guard or something. Which leads me to believe, what if you just drop it and don't know it, and don't hear the voice from upstairs? Or what if you're getting busy and throw it aside and don't answer the call? I think it's for LifeAlert, but there's one that starts with a series of graphics of people falling down and the narration, "A trip. A misstep. A loss of balance. It's just a matter of time. At some point you are going to fall." I really resent that implication.
  10. Oh my word, so glad I did!! "It looks like you're digging a grave. Is it a personal grave or a business grave?" LOL!
  11. I don't follow anyone on YouTube. But do people actually make videos like that and they go viral? The only "viral" videos I've ever seen are of things like babies blowing bubbles and French bulldog puppies who don't like bedtime. I simply cannot imagine hundreds of thousands of people wanting to see anything like those three videos. I am among those surprised that YouTube has headquarters and executives and the whole bit. There were many parts of this episode I wish I could unsee. Candy bars duct taped to anyone is a pass for me. Candy bars duct taped to Lenny's hairy chest and back is the stuff of nightmares. Also, Lenny asking the makeup artist if he was "glowing" and puckering up for the camera because "that's the way those girls do the selfies." Egads. How did I manage any sleep last night? Sadly, as stupid as the challenge was, I think out of everyone Aryen rose to the challenge the most. So of course in typical bizarro-world fashion, she gets the boot. Don't get me wrong, she should go at some point, but I fail to see how this was her week, what with Dr. Paydaystein(tm mlp) and his lemme-show-you-how-to-clean-a-pepper tip. And I had no problem at all understanding Aryen's last line either. In other news, who knew the Geico Caveman was such a nice looking fella under all that facial hair? Although, yeah, he trims that rat's nest only to put on a fake version for the video. WTF??? And I love me some Nicole, but comic timing that was not. One more thing. Did Giada fairly spit "Christopher" when asked her choice to go or what? Wowza.
  12. I'm thinking to prove what an awesome love for the ages Ridge and Katie have. In the past, it would have been Brooke to say something and bring all his memories back. But now it's Katie. We've moved on. I just wish the two of them would move away, then all would be perfect.
  13. About the self-stopping car, am I the only person on the planet that doesn't want my damn car to do the thinking for me? I just don't think these self-driving cars are a good idea . . . it's too . . . "Maximum Overdrive" for me.
  14. It'll have to the the hungry homeless kid. Gerbils are always busy.
  15. Maybe it's a small painting of the guy from the Ocuvite commercial.
  16. Ack. For real. There is a restaurant near me that specializes in Portuguese chicken. They have a graphic of a chicken with one wing tucked behind her head, legs crossed and winking. She has long eyelashes. I always say to my husband that as delicious as their Portuguese chicken might be, I would never go in there, because I really don't want my food coming on to me.
  17. I hated Barbarino in equal measure to Horshack. Epstein was the only one I could tolerate.
  18. I have never eaten off a chuck wagon so this may not be fair. But are they known as culinary delights? All I remember is that little one running all over the floor, enticing all the dogs to eat Alpo.
  19. It's worse than that. They're not nuts. They're legumes. So maybe the bit that is blurred out really contains the nuts, so to speak. Eeeeewwwwwwww.
  20. Ah, but this time a GRANDPA story came out of the tiny kitchen. And it was breakfast not dinner. Very refreshing.
  21. This is my theory re: Sabrina. I think the pregnancy Adam was meant to sabotage was hers. There was a strange undercurrent between she and Adam right before she was killed. I think they changed the direction after the actress was canned, thus explaining Ashley's out-of-the blue reconciliation with Victor and post-ovarian-cancer-perimenopausal pregnancy. It was all so weird and the timing makes sense if it was meant to be Sabrina. Why they wouldn't just shitcan the whole gaslighting thing I don't understand but I'm sure someone thought it would be awesome.
  22. I loved Nicole before this week's episode. I love her double now. She called it SAUCE. Even when served with a meatball. I want to have her baby. I have never watched Alton's How Big A Douchebag - uh - Cutthroat Kitchen. Like other posters, I never would. But OMG! That teeny potato masher! Soooo effing cute. Kenny wasn't much of a surprise. He pretty much got a week's grace. I nearly barfed at the mere description of his dish Alton: I thought it sounded awful, but I didn't have to eat any of it. Bobby: Trust me, it wasn't good. Hee. If things don't work out with Nicole, Bobby's my Plan B.
  23. I think I dislike the use of "females" for "women" because I don't see males used the same way for men. And I guess it does go to some misguided PC thing. Like there is baggage attached to "woman" (I mean mostly societal roles) that is not attached to "female." But it is doing women a disservice by substituting a term instead of reclaiming the use of the other.
  24. Susan Walters was my favorite Diane. Alex Donnelley was good too, though. Maura West was a terrible miscast. I watched her entire run on ATWT and while she was certainly a decent actress, I always thought she was overrated. Good but not as great as I heard people say she was. For all intents and purposes, she had only ever played Carly in her entire career, and I was curious to see if she had a range wide enough to play a character who was quite different. She did a decent enough job, because she didn't play Diane the same way as Carly, but she never made me forget or stop missing the other Dianes.
