  1. Good point! Thanks for cheering me up on what is otherwise a shitty Monday morning. At the Roadblock, was anyone else waiting for Rachel to say , "I'll do it because I used to be a barber?"
  2. I was 100% on Team Cowboy, but man, they deserved to be eliminated this leg. First, missing the airport exit. Then missing the Matador sign. But good gravy boys! If you enter a building with a large group of people standing there, ask them for directions instead of running off in the opopsite direction! And I really do not like Dave and Connor, but I grudgingly admit they are damn good racers. If they would just keep their mouths shut. And sorry, but I cannot stand Rachel. I have this constant dread that they will win and I will have to swear to never wear green again, much as Queen Victoria only wore black after Albert died. Afghanimals FTW!
  3. Randy pissed me off so much when he was hugging Sam at the end and wouldn't let go or shut up so other people could get to him. And it sounded like he was just saying "You're ready! He's ready! You're ready! He's ready!' over and over again. I forgot about that stupid scene in the car where JENA$#& asks her mother why she spelled it that way. Really? That question has never come up before? You waited 17 years until you were both on camera to ask it? Ugh.
  4. I hate that not all the contestants get a play-off video. I also hated the twist and was sure it was a set-up for JENA%# not to be voted off. I wonder what they planned to do to fill that time if all the contestants had voted Yes. No doubt we would have had Ryan ask the judges, yet again, who they thought should go home and we would have had to listen to five minutes of Jennifer gushing over how wonderful JENA$^*&@ is. Another reason to hate the twist.
  5. OMG!! Totes, fer sure. Who would turn down a chance to go to prom with JENA#$!* ?
  6. I think the Idols Tour this summer will do him a world of good. He can work out a stage presence without the pressure of being judged. I happen to really like Caleb and Jessica, but here's my take on them: Caleb is very smarmy and arrogant and Jessica has little emotion and seems socially clueless and rude. But those traits seem innate to them and I don't think they are trying to put on a "cool" persona, and I think they are exactly the same off-camera. Whereas Jena...I have no idea what her personality is because I feel that every.single.movement and word is carefully thought out to show the world the act she wants to be (and thinks will make her successful). Personally, I'll take cold, arrogant and real over cute, wild and fake any day. I'm remembering that Jena asked Caleb to her prom. Can you even imagine? I certainly hope none of the other kids plan to dance, because those two ain't giving up an inch of floor space.
  7. Before last night, I had never ever heard of Ariana Whatshername or that other guy Ryan was talking to. In fact, in both cases I thought it was some random person from the audience. Get off my lawn!!!! Aside from Jena-pleasegohome-Irene, I really like all the others who are left and will be sad as each one gets voted off. But, as Harry said last week, eventually even the good ones have to go home. I thought it was so funny that he really had many simple ideas and solutions, and yet Randy never thought of any of them. I loved when Mraz suggested Alex raise his mike a little, and Randy said, "We've been trying to get Alex to look up more." Think how good these poor kids might be if they'd had a real mentor all season.
  8. Clearly (according to JLo) I am not in touch with America. I tried to watch Jena but the second she yelled out, "Come on everybody!", I yelled, "Not on every damn song!" and FF'd. Only to hear JLo tell me that's the best thing she does and the reason everyone loves her. Ugh.
  9. For all of her fumbling, Selena sure knows how to deliver a subtle slap-down and put someone in his place. "Some people call me Madam Vice President. (pause) But you can call me whatever you want."
  10. I agree that it's nothing ground breaking or "necessary", but I didn't realize how much I'd missed John Oliver. Personally, I'd rather he skipped the interview (too derivative of TDS) and do more in-depth coverage of another under-reported story. The India election piece was great.
  11. I was glad they showed Alicia mistaking the two guys at the party because I was thinking it was bit far-fetched that she would have perfect photographic recall, especially when under such stress. So I guess she just thinks she's perfect. Dylan Baker is so perfectly creepy as Colin Sweeney that I cannot stand to watch him in anything else. He played a normal father in Smash, and I kept waiting for him to murder someone.
  12. I am definitely on Team Cowboy, but I also love the Afghanimals. They seem to be having a really fun time and appreciating the scenery as they go. They also never fight or yell at each other and, while I can see where their rambunctiousness might get annoying, it is always fun-spirited and never mean. As for the Alliance, I think they are only it to try and get D&C and the Country Girls into the Top 3 since they Afghanimals think they can beat C&D in a speed contest, and the Country Girls in almost anything else. That's why (IMO) they helped and waited for the Girls - just to try get Brenchel eliminated, since they pose a bigger threat. I do find it funny that the Cowboys, possibly the strongest all-around team, is completely under the radar. If they manage to win it all, they should send flowers to Brenchel for drawing all the attention. I agree with what everyone said about the Country Girls, but that Roadblock was brutal! Carrying 60 pounds of milk down a snowy mountain? The girls didn't stand a chance, but I really appreciated that she didn't start crying or give up, and that her partner was so supportive. And the fact that she was so sweet to the dog went a long way for me. They still should have been eliminated.
  13. You're probably right - I can't actually remember the exact quote. And yes - a dumb episode with yet another tertiary BFF for Laura, fishing, blah blah blah fishcakes.
  14. I also thought it was funny (and telling) when Ryan read the tweet from Carrie Underwood complimenting Caleb & Jena. Caleb sat there, calmly and maturely, while Jena was making her face and pumping her arms like a cocky idiot.
  15. Very cute birthday dinner. But I couldn't help but flashback to last night when Caleb told Ryan how much he was sweating. And there he was, at dinner, wearing the same clothes! Ewwwwwww!
  16. I don't think Caleb wants to win, and in fact, I think he'll be better off if he does not win. He's very shrewd and is looking for exposure so that a band will ask him to be their front man. He's been very clear that that is what he wants to do with his career. If he won and TPTB tried to give him a solo career, it would be a disaster. I've been thinking about Jessica. She's been a working musician for years already, doing many shows each week. I believe that's what's hurting her: she knows these songs so well already that they're almost rote and she's lost all the emotional connection. I wonder if Jolene is in her regular set list, or if it was a fairly new choice and that's why it was better. Having said that, I really like both her and Caleb. I would love for Sam to be the surprise winner of the whole thing. If we assume that CJ will NOT win it all, I think all the others will still have great careers just from the exposure they've received. But Sam would benefit more than any other contestant from a win (IMO).
  17. I actually watched his performance a second time because I thought I'd missed it. Then I realized that the cameras were on Jennifer laughing in reaction. Great work there, guys. Keith hit it exactly when he talked about Jessica's eyes not matching the song, and then Jennifer was right when she said "Jolene" was the first time Jessica seemed to connect. I love Jessica's voice, but there is definitely something off about her performances. I heard a radio commercial this morning talking about a "shock boot" tonight. PleaseBeJena.PleaseBeJena.PleaseBeJena. (she is the only one I FF through every time. Cannot stand her).
  18. It did, but sadly we lost several hundred pages to the Great Thread Tragedy of '05.
  19. "Sorry don't move the stumps" A little known gem that I try to use as much as possible.
  20. Ah, but who will teach the people of WG the error of their ways if not for the Wise Negro and the Noble Indian? And who will cheat people and be whores if not for the Evil Irish? And we have the Jolly Italians for comic relief and the Overly Sincere Russians to make us appreciate America. I think the JEWISH! thing was just ML (nee Eugene Orowitz) working out his passive aggressivness towards his mother. He was never quite sure whether to canonize them (see: Coffin Maker) or make fun of them (see: BENJAMIN!). Either way, he got most of the traditions wrong.
  21. Seriously. I would think most people would build the fort and them throw a blanket over the whole thing, which makes it pretty much the same as using a table. Instead of fabric, they should make cardboard or thin plastic panels you can slide in to place. Then again, it's called imagination for a reason. Any kid can make a cardboard box into anything. This seems like a toy you use once and then forget about. No kid can/will build it on his own, and how many parents have the time and/or patience to build it more than once? Didn't she say it has like 300 pieces? Yeah, none of those will get lost....
  22. I actually liked it better that they showed a (very) hetero guy having no problem at all with hanging out with a gay man as a friend.
  23. Matt was incredible. I have no idea how he got some of those, like, "He's a black comedian who's really exploding now". "Kevin Hart". WTF?? I was hysterical with the Jenner mix-up. "He's the Olympian". "Whoops - it's his son". I hope the K's watch this show and realize that they are maybe not as ubiquitous as they believe they are.
  24. JLo looked like a fly-fisherman who had to run out of the house when she was only half dressed. She has a great body, but with those muscular, dancer thighs, thigh-high boots are not her friend. I think the most shocked person last night was Jessica. She just looked so resigned last night and was trying to look disinterested since she was sure she was going home. I think the voters are doing a great job this year and pretty much picking 'em off in the right order. If Jena wins this whole thing I am never watching AI again. And apparently TPTB probably agree with me. And Caleb used the word "literally" again last night (maybe it was on his Word-A-Day calendar?), but in sort of the correct context. But his next sentence was, "We killed them last night", and I was sure he would add, "We literally killed them" but he did not. Good boy, Caleb.
