  1. She wasn't? I don't know the song she sang, and I don't like her singing, so I wasn't really paying attention. But I kept hearing her saying something about being a widow, which I thought was odd. I really do like Jessica's voice a lot. But there is something a little off about her. Harry's right that she has no rhythm, which is so bizarre for a singer. But she also has that go-to smile that she plasters on her face and makes her look a bit like a Village Idiot rather than connecting in any way to what she's singing or what she's hearing. And I agree with the hate for Jennifer's reaction to Harry explaining why he never stands up. It's like when he explained why he doesn't go to rehearsals. I think Jennifer thinks he's showing her up as a judge and proving why he's better at this than she is. I mean, he is totally doing that, but not on purpose (IMO).
  2. I think I'm in the minority in that I like Caleb, both for his singing and his personality. But, sweetie, please learn how to use the word "literally" correctly. I like CJ, but I am not literally swimming in a river to his heart (or whatever crazy thing he said).
  3. Christmas At Plum Creek: "Ma Has A Big Box"
  4. Not to completely beat it to death, but I was in college in the 80s when Journey was big and could very easily be Caleb's mother. When you are 22, someone in their 50s is old. I certainly was not insulted by his remark but I laughed at how silly everyone is when they are 22. In 1985, if I was talking about a song from the 50s, I'd probably describe it as a song old people like. It was just a silly off-the-cuff remark. I doubt "old" women are Caleb's voting demographic, but if we are, I'm guessing we'll be able to laugh and forget it and not hold it against him.
  5. I think Caleb has a slightly different attitude because he's admitted he's not looking for a solo pop career. He really wants to front a band. So I'm not sure if he cares enough about winning to pander and change his personality at all. I think of him more as a Steven Tyler or even Mick Jagger type, being "wild" and slightly outrageous, and he's hoping that a band contacts him after the show, regardless of whether he wins. I think he would kill for the sort of career Daughtry or Adam Lambert have. Having said all that, I actually really like Caleb and think he's a cutie. I am hoping against hope that Jena or Dexter go home tonight.
  6. I loved all the not-so-backhanded stabs at Randy: (paraphrasing) "It's so great to have a real mentor who actually won this and can really help us and tell us what to do!" Count me as another "old lady" who's never been a huge Journey fan. I laughed at Caleb's comment, but I hope he doesn't try to apologize again tonight. I adore Harry, but I thought it was very creepy for him to have a tween girl sitting on his shoulders like that. When he sat down with her, I was hoping we'd find out it was his daughter, but no. Is there a graceful way for her to dismount? I'm glad we didn't have to see it.
  7. Yes, the one where everyone is so sad she's dead, except...PSYCH! She's alive!! And the entire town feels so bad that they vow to spend more time with her. And then we never see her again.
  8. The only time that worked for LHoP was when MSA was nominated for Actress Most Likely Not To Ennunciate ("Mline? I'm going mline?") In a similar vein, I think ML wrote The Godsister to give the Greenbush twins a chance to show they had a brain. Sadly, that attempt too was thwarted. And...back to the thread topic: "ALYSSA! ALYSSA!"
  9. See, I thought Joel might have had a REALLY strong opinion about Romney and was afraid he might say something that would get him in trouble with fans. This! I know nothing about Star Wars and I was completely lost as he rambled on. I immediately thought about the TV show. Can they use rhyming words? I thought Bob could have said "lookie" to try and prompt her.
  10. I prefer Malaya to Jena and it has little to do with their voices. Malaya (similarly to Caleb) has a manic personality that can most definitely be annoying. But I feel about both Malaya and Caleb that it is organic and natural and they are not putting on an act but have always acted this way (and probably act the same at home or at school or at a McDonald's job). But with Jena I get the feeling that it is all a carefully staged act designed to fit an image she (and her mother) think will be successful. I could be totally wrong and Jena might be a very sweet girl, but I'm not feeling it. Even at the dinner last night when she made a toast and said, "I love you all", my first thought was, "Yeah, of course, when the cameras are rolling and it can benefit you."
  11. I wasn't sure why he passed on Romney in the first place. He said something like, "He ran for president", and really all he had to do was add "and lost to Obama" and I'm pretty sure the guy would have guessed right. Seemed like an odd name to pass on. The contestant was great and was really pulling names out of left field. I'd be pissed if I was him.
  12. Sam has just the most incredible voice and perfect pitch. Even last night when he was presumably nervous and most of the singers suck, but from the very first note I was mesmerized. And he was definitely the loosest I've ever seen him. Although his pronunciation of the title word bothered me. It sounded like he was saying, "Babel On". But I loved how C.J. picked him up. I wonder if they had confetti ready every week, or if they knew the save would be used this week. It seemed to be a bit OTT. And JLo looked the best she's looked all season. She is really stunning anyway, but especially when wearing an appropriately sexy outfit and her hair down (and brushed).
  13. I don't understand when the judges keep saying he has a great voice and just needs to learn to sing on-key. Doesn't having a good voice sort of mean you sing on-key? And can you really learn that? It seems that if you could hear the right key to begin with, you could sing it. Then again, I'm tone-deaf, so what do I know. It just seems that perhaps you should learn to sing on-key BEFORE you make it to AI's Top Eight. Caleb & Jessica had the best duet mainly because they interacted and you believed them. Like them or not (I happen to love them both), they are both seasoned performers and it shows.
  14. And there's "The Racoon (sic)", which isn't an alternate title as much as an acknowledgement that the title is spelled wrong.
  15. Bubbacat remains the queen with "May We Bake Them Brown" (May We Make Them Proud) I like "Ma Gets Buck Rogered" (The Handyman) And the plague episode (not that one, the other one), "Mutton, Mutton, who's got the mutton?" And who could forget "Mr. Edwards Plays With His Monkey" (Blanche)
  16. As opposed to ML himself, who was much more than a handful to "keep up".
  17. Hey, bubbacat! Don't make me wrestle you and draw all over your face with magic marker! Welcome to all the newbies and ex-lurkers. Everyone is welcome and if anyone has trouble, we'll ask Pa to give an inspirational sermon.
  18. That tertiary lady who was so close to Laura that she left her a mansion.
  19. Oh, she's still in WG. Just check under the Reverend's floor boards. Don't forget Baby Grace (not that one, the other one) that Laura found and gave back, swearing she would never forget her.
  20. Or Tertiary Thyvia's Dad who was also Tertiary Harold. And "That Guy!" who was in many episodes as That Tertiary Guy. Usally seen sitting on a train or working in town.
  21. jird!! It's so good to see all these old friends again. Now we just need Tim McD and Halfpint as our resident Jezebeaus.
  22. Hi everyone! I know there's a separate song thread, but just this once: Welcome back Seeing TWoP close made us all frown Welcome back Like ML’s schlong, you can’t keep us down The address may have changed, but we’re still around With the same crazy friends we are glad we found Glark, you know we love ya (Yes we surely love ya) Just like Laura loved Pa (Laura really loved Pa) Yeah, we’re going to Hell all because of ML Welcome back. welcome back, welcome back, welcome back
