Unpopular Opinions: Overheard While Traveling Through the Stones
Cdh20 replied to GHScorpiosRule's topic in Outlander
I am surprised so many people won't give that prequel a chance- it "looks" like the early OL seasons with the setting of 1700's Scotland -something everyone claimed they missed so much after season 3! And that OL casting director is practically a genius, I will certainly watch it! -

Season 7 is done! I assume they chose to show the prequel series before 8 to get as many OL fans to watch as possible -

I just want to say I am sad the season is over already, & it will be a year to see that final season. It might require a whole series rewatch🤔 -
Cesar & Lauren( Fergus & Marsali) are in season 8, for whoever was wondering ( Germaine too) . I do think the show tries to do as little as possible with the little kids probably because they have limited working hours.
-
The picture of Ellen is actually the actress cast in Blood of My Blood ( so much of that episode was used to sell/ reference that prequel). I agree with loving how much time John got this season! And bless Jamie for finding some good adjectives to explain Geneva. No son needs to know the truth about that whole incident. William said he saw the picture of the Earl- he knows whose idea it was!
-
I know most people hate Book William so Charles had his work cut out for him! I have enjoyed every bit of his story onscreen, it was pared down perfectly.
-
Diana, who is big of ego, was quick to say the idea was hers! Then later, in case viewers don’t like it, she criticizes what the show writers do with it! 🤦🏼♀️

Jamie is 57

Diana Gabaldon ( the book’s author) has confirmed that is who it is. -
At the dinner she was eating the jellied eel, & scraping off the jelly!
-
That dinner was just an excuse for Claire to meet historical figures. I loved her expression eating eel🤣. Jamie marking his territory 🤣🤣 William’s face when he was called a groom ( Charles is killing it)! I am not a big fan Diana’s books, but I like her scripts, I kinda loved this episode.
-
I said out loud for Claire “ oh I knew her husband, the King!” 🥴 The books at this point (7, & 8) are scarce on J&C, with so many other characters’ storylines, & perspectives so the show is following the books. I read them only a few years ago, & Roger, Bree, & William’s current storylines were the most interesting at this point, but then I’ve about had it with this war, & wish Jamie & Claire felt the same.

Having an alias seems like a Jamie Fraser move!
-
I understand Cesar & Lauren were not available for season 7’s schedule but are returning in season 8, so per the show they are running the printshop in North Carolina ( was it Wilmington? )
-
He showed what he was hiding (a letter from France) when he went to the camp & talked to the soldier in charge & then Washington.
-
That smirk was so Claire- Jamie is alive & now she ALIVE! Let the adventures begin again…
-
When Claire first went she fell into 1743. That is the year Buck was conceived, but obviously Geillis & Dougal were carrying on for years, but not 10!
-
I have always felt bad for Laoghaire even though she is immature, & a bit crazy. We all know what it is to fall in love with Jamie Fraser & all he sees is Claire!
-
W still has it, & Stack Tv but they only leave the episodes up for a few weeks at a time.
-
I agree, Having gone to Scotland myself seeing Lallybroch on screen is extra sweet after seeing it in real life!
-
Oops I see how I misunderstood that! But yes good news for all of us
-
Not the last season, we still have season 8 to look forward to
-
You should go, if you would enjoy the people & the tour & if the budget works! I loved Scotland!

There was a bunch of ships situations from the end of ABOSAA & in Echo, but luckily they cut the one set of shenanigans while they were on their way to NY & Ticonderoga. These last few seasons have had more dialogue directly from the book & plot points in order than from some of the previous seasons. I think this season especially has benefitted from the huge pare down that those books require. Admittedly it might be harder for non readers to have enough information about a situation to completely understand why/who/what. The whole Grey family plays huge roles in the last 3 books! Steven Cree is returning as Ian, Jenny has been recast!

I just rewatched with my hubby, who has not read the books, and he said this episode was the best one of the season so far…time travel, kidnapping, war, cliffhangers!
