  1. I just read the plot description in Entertainment Weekly and immediately came here to ask, "Hey, has anyone noticed that it's basically the plot of The Lion in Winter?" I guess so!
  2. I did watch all of V. I liked Liz Mitchell's character better there. Plus Blackbeard! It was uneven, but I enjoyed it. I remember being utterly freaked out and terrified by the lizard baby in the original series, when I was about 11 or 12. I saw it again a few years ago, and it was so clearly a rubber puppet it was laughable. Such a definable image from my childhood, utterly undermined, LOL.
  3. I thought there was a big improvement in S2 of Revolution over S1. I could definitely tell the effect of Rockne O'Bannon, who came on as a producer in S2. But I think it was too little, too late. I did find Liz Mitchell's character rather annoying, but I loved Miles and Monroe and their snark. And, of course, Giancarlo Esposito (Once's Sidney) was awesome.
  4. S is for Swan, Emma, the character I can most relate to.
  5. Either Jane Espenson or Kalinda Vazquez (I can't remember which) said they go over in the writers' room what worked and why. I hope they also go over what DIDN'T work and why, as I think that is probably more helpful. I wonder, though, because they never seem to learn. They not only keep making the same mistakes, but actually make the same mistakes WORSE the next time. I do not think they get AT ALL why some fans felt so frustrated and let-down by the finale. They certainly haven't indicated that maybe they didn't pull it off as well as they could have. Instead, they got defensive and mocking when asked about the Hook/Emma stuff being rushed. So I think they're too in love with their ideas and writing to accept that they're not God's gift to storytelling. I have watched enough really GOOD and well-written TV shows to know how things could and should be done. Once isn't one. The setup is often there, but the followthrough generally isn't. A&E seem to have pretty good ideas, but they can't shepherd them all the way from conception to screen. I think if it weren't for the actors, the show's failings would be even more obvious; the actors are able to sell a lot of things that lesser actors wouldn't.
  6. Oh, no, that's terrible! I am so, so sorry for your loss. ::hugs:: Pets are part of our family and are so special. I have an almost 19-year-old cat who I know I'll be facing that decision with sooner than I'd like, and I'm going to be a basket case about it.
  7. You mean, like she had time for shots with Regina but not time to be with her boyfriend who almost had his heart crushed in front of her? Is there Chantix for giving up this show?
  8. I 100% expect Emma to move in with Regina and Henry, for no reason but to give the SQ fans something else. Pander, pander, pander. The budget excuse is 100% a lie and BS.
  9. I hope everybody had a lovely Christmas. I managed to mess up the sweet potato casserole by grabbing the coconut extract instead of the vanilla, and didn't realize it until after I'd already added it. I tried to mask it with more ginger and cinnamon, but it still had an undertone of coconut extract. Not a disaster, but unfortunate. It could have been worse, though -- I could have accidentally grabbed the peppermint extract. That would have been AWFUL!
  10. Aiyiyi, I got Regina as my style character. Welp, better for her style than her characterization! (I picked all the book answers, too.)
  11. Oh, Rumsy, that's awful! My mom is allergic to chocolate, and peanut butter stuff is generally her replacement treat. How terrible to be allergic to both! (I'm allergic to penicillin and anything remotely in the same family, which isn't annoying on a day-to-day basis but certainly is when I need an antibiotic.)
  12. Try not to abandon any infants or conspire to send anybody to jail, OK? :)
  13. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate! On tap to make today: lemon cheesecake, peanut butter balls and that sweet potato casserole from Thanksgiving again. I need to get baking!
  14. FWIW, Colin is following Kristen Bauer and Victoria Smurfit on Twitter, but not Merrin Dungey. So that implies to me Hook has filmed with Maleficent and Cruella, but not Ursula. ::rattles a table, since it's not quite flip-worthy until it's confirmed:: Or that's just a big assumption.
  15. Ask Ausiello: Question: I know it’s early yet, but any Once Upon a Time scoop to get us through this hiatus? —Jenny Ausiello: As Season 4 unfolds starting March 1, new flashbacks will highlight the Charmings, Ursula’s origin story, more of Captain Hook’s past and the tale of how Regina first met Maleficent. -- Nothing really new. I'm sure Hook's past will only be about whichever villain he's linked to, rather than actually him.
  16. The SQ fans certainly took it as a gay reference. But the line was incorrect anyway, like Curio said. She should have been thanking Hook, who's the one who pulled the urn out of a cabinet. So, it was queerbaiting AND incorrect.
  17. Hey, I'm Charming! That's a lot better than the last "Which Once Character Are You?" quiz I took. I got freaking Neal. I immediately killed myself. Then I revived myself, changed an answer I was iffy on, and got Belle instead.
  18. I think Maleficent will survive, because she's such an iconic character. Same with Ursula. (And they really need another POC as a recurring character.) I suspect Ursula will end up back in the Enchanted Forest, so off-canvas but capable of coming back if they want her. Cruella seems the most expendable.
  19. Yeah, the AdulteryQueen thing is simply a convenient argument for some SQ shippers IMO. I know some people actually do have a problem with it, and rightly so IMO, but to me it's just something a lot of them have glommed onto to use as a cudgel -- much like their throwing around "homophobic!" for anybody who doesn't support SQ or "rape culture!" for CS fans. I'm just so tired of SQ getting pandered to above all others on social media, and now even a writer is presenting them as the biggest victims around. Seriously, WTF? Have I stumbled into some alternate reality? There's a reason I stopped following all the writers. I should remember that.
  20. Jane Espenson thinks SQ fans get it worst in the ship wars. I can't even.
  21. I've spent most of last night and today making cookies. I always make a bunch to take into work for Christmas. I've made: Fudge Toffee Bars, Sugar, Chocolate Crinkletops, Orange-Cranberry-Pecan Slices (new this year and FAB!), and Triple Ginger. If I feel like it tomorrow, I'll make Honey Coconut Oatmeal. Or I may just wrap presents and watch football. Twenty dozen may be sufficient! ;) I managed to spill a bunch of sugar all over the counter not once but twice. I am so gonna have ants. Sigh.
