Yes & yes to all of the above. ABC isn't going to expend much, if any, energy or money on Once. They did for Frozen, got an initial boffo return, then it fell into a hole. They desperately need to find new hits. They're probably figuring Grey's won't last past next season. Once is doing OK for them, so they'll probably leave it alone. They may send a memo that says something like, "Focus on the core characters." I think A&E may have gotten one of those memos before 4B b/c fans were already grumbling, which is why A&E started talking about focusing on the core characters. Except, of course, they already had the QOD and scripts with core characters AWOL for long stretches, so it was nothing but talk.

Isn't it sad when we think that what we got sucked, but what we may have gotten instead would also have sucked? I hate to stick up for Once in the ratings, but it has to be taken into account that they have fallen victim to whatever has befallen Sunday as a whole. Sunday is down loads across the board -- even stalwart 60 Minutes.

So Joss Whedon has apparently been harassed off Twitter.

I suspect it's just a cutesy nod to last year's "concept finale." Speaking of Hook's vest, one of the on-set fans who was hinting at Hook being in an outfit we hadn't seen in awhile said that the vest is what she meant, not the Lt. Jones outfit like everybody assumed/wanted it to be.

They also used "captivating." I remember them doing Guest Stars TBA at least once before.

I'm pretty sure Hook will die in the AU, and that may be what prompts Emma to reveal her feelings for him. Because of COURSE Rumple will make him suffer and die. IMO the dagger is close to the end, b/c of Emma's different clothes in that scene. IMO, it's AU first. Something returns them to SB. That's when Emma & Regina wake up, and Emma runs off (to find Hook?). They get a day of calm to change clothes, then the Dark One cloud is released from Rumple & Emma's sacrifice with the dagger. The shot of crazed Emma in the tower, she was sort of phasing/stuttering. I think she sort of remembers reality and it's driving her mad.

Absolutely. I'm pretty sure that A&E had this “cool” idea for their season finale concept movie of an Author rewriting everybody’s character, because A&E are bored with their actual characters, and they came up with the Author storyline solely as a way to get to their “cool” idea. The fact that the journey to get there was an annoying, boring, convoluted, contrived, pointless mess that required every character to lose 99% of their brain cells was of no consequence to them. It's a TERRIBLE way to write a show.

If Twitter trends are any indication (and I know they're not really), Secrets & Lies will overtake Once as ABC's top drama of the night in the ratings. It's been trending on Twitter for almost four hours now. Once trended while it was on East Coast time but then dropped off. Given they tied last week…. S&L is STILL trending. Must have been a corker of a finale.
