I listened to an interview with one of the writers. Kinberg, I think. He said they could only get Anna Paquin for a couple of days. Why they couldn't have her for longer, I don't know.
-
Yeah. It's been a long time since I saw the first two X-Movies, but I don't remember her doing anything especially cool there either, apart from the end of X2.

We can't just have one movie with Jean as badarse. In the comics, she was Phoenix for a while before going fully over. But now, everyone wants to jump to the end of the story.

Yes, it was the animation process that made her look different. Right. Uh huh. Sure thing. Of course it was the animation process, and not the people who created the art assets. We all accept that, don't we?

I never played a Telltale game, but this story appeared a few days ago. Arseholes at the top, constant pressure, and so on. The thing is, I'm sure I've read a dozen articles on the same lines over the last few years. Often with the same end. I have to wonder, do the people at the top read them? Do they know they're sabotaging their company? Even after the end, do they realise why they're looking for a new job? Essentially, do they ever learn? OTOH, you rarely hear about companies that are going well. Have a few issues, but sort them out and get back to business. Bad news gets the headlines, of course.

I haven't watched it at home yet, but my theatre had no problems. Apparently the DOP was doing something fancy that required work on the partof the cinemas, and not all of them did what needed to be done.

I rewatched this the other day. Better than I remembered. Probably not in my top 5 MCU movies, but not in the bottom 5 either. The dumb humour with the GOTG took up less time than I originally thought, though it was just as bad. When I saw the trailer for the first time, I thought the aliens in the Wakanda battle either were or based on Mindless Ones. But this time, they looked more like Genestealers. Anyone else see that?

I have long wanted a David Attenborough version of some movies. Forget the plot, just show off the worldbuilding. A day in the life. James Cameron's Avatar and the recent Planet of the Apes are two contenders for this. Not that I'm making any unfortunate comparisons, mind you. But I think you get the idea.

I read somewhere recently that negativity gets more clicks and thus advertising dollars, than positivity. Explains a lot. My bet, they aren't SW fans. Nothing could make them happy. They're just mouthing off for money. Greedy shitheads, I call them.

Rian Johnson's movies weren't mentioned. I know what certain people will put in their next YT video. No, I don't watch them. But I accidentlly clicked on a couple, and now they won't go away.

Corporal Klinger on MASH was actually supposed to be trans (transsexual or transvestite, I don't know know enough to say), or at least claiming to be trans. I know he was trying to get sent home for being insane, but that never worked for me. Yeah, he wore a dress, but he seemed on the same level of sanity as everyone else. Everyone had their quirks, is what I'm saying.

Trailers & New Movies: Coming Soon to a Cinema Near You!

Bryan SInger to direct Red Sonja? Oh god no. I would like more than one good Conan-ish movie, but not from Singer. If any Millenium execs are reading this, I won't go and see any work Singer does, ever again. I suspect I'm not the only one. It's a terrible idea. Find a director who doesn't rape children. There are hundreds out there, probably thousands! -
Pretty good. I'm cautiously optimistic.
-
Absolutely. I should not be bored by any part of a Star Wars movie. Any movie, really. But especially Star Wars.
-
Number 4 is offensive. Let's take away one of Leia's best moments and give it to some boring idiot.
-
I watched about 10 minutes of Requiem. But you're saying it's actually good? Or enjoyably bad?

My favourite is Predator 2, and I like Predators as well. But frankly, reviews haven't been great. Between my lack of enthusiasm, my lack of money, reviews, and misbehaviour, it's just a perfect situation to miss.

I've been trying to work up the enthusiam for this movie, and failing. The recent news about Shane Black and the way Olivia Munn was treated, I don't think I'll bother. I'm not going to support that behaviour.

Yes. He's gotten more heroic over the years, and the symbiote has attached to other people than just Spidey and Eddie Brock. At one point, Flash Thompson had it and joined the GOTG for space adventures.

Faux Life: Things That Happen On TV But Not In Reality

I've seen them! Three to four feet tall, carry spears and bows. Say things like Yub nub, and worship a golden idol. -
I can see that. Whoever does the TOR movies is very good at visual storytelling. And while I still love TLJ, there's something about the minimalist approach. Just hit the beats that need to be hit, ditch the rest. That said, we haven't seen Ren's full story yet. Maybe, hopefully, there will be something in IX to pull it all together.

What was the last movie you watched?
Joe replied to stoneforest's topic in Everything Else About Movies
1982's Conan the Barbarian. Arnold Schwarzenegger's breakthrough role. In my personal top 10 movies ever. The greatest score, the most romantic speech, just the complete package. You know what I miss about movies these days? When a scene calls for a thousand cultists making their way along the road and up the hill, it's only 20, and the rest are looped or animated. Conan had a thousand cultists on screen. I'm sure it's cheaper, or at least easier. You don't have to feed, clothe, house, and generally wrangle a thousand people for a week. But no matter how good the CG, you can feel the difference. -
That's fine. While I liked it, it's not in my top five MCU movies.
-
Yeah. While I appreciate the sentiment, I don't like stuff that's too knowing, winking at the camera. Or cheap and nasty CG.

I didn't like Firefly, though I did like the theme music. But the show I liked even less was Cowboy Bebop. Though that too had some great music.
