  1. I thought the original taste of Tab was closer to Dr Pepper than Coke. Do you dislike Dr. Pepper?
  2. The problem with the later Bonds is that the villains aren't memorable (even their plots are often nebulous).
  3. I actually liked the taste of Tab (the original saccharine Tab). The taste changed when the took out the saccharine. Fresca was awful.
  4. When I was a kid I gave my friend some Exlax telling him it was chocolate. He probably lost some weight. (This was the same kid who put Neet on one of his eyebrows to see if it worked. Needless to say it did work and its surprising how long it takes an eyebrow to grow back when you are a kid.)
  5. To me, it makes no sense to advertise to patients. They, I would hope, have no choice in the matter. It's not like I should be able to just go to the doctor and say I want X drug because I saw it on TV (at least I hope not). Although I guess there was some of that with Oxycontin.
  6. I believe that they've only been able to run TV ads for prescription medicines since the early 80s.
  7. That's Joe E. Lewis . "Machine Gun" Jack McGurn was the perpetrator (he later was involved in planning the St. Valentine's Day Massacre). Sinatra starred in the story of his life, "The Joker is Wild."
  8. So am I supposed to recognize the white guy in the new Corona beer ads that Snoop also does, because I have no idea who he is.
  9. I changed doctors one time and I had to have the previous doctors records copied and I had to physically carry them to the new doctor. It was strange, but I did get to read my records, which was interesting (fortunately no "Elaine"-type notes).
  10. I've always said, Christmas isn't a religious holiday, it's a greed holiday.
  11. He did say, "You may have gone to Cambridge, but I'm an honorary graduate of Starfleet Academy."
  12. I agree, but the show sort of revolves around the characters looking ridiculous. 🤓
  13. He's mention Heidelberg Univ. as one of the places he went. As mentioned in the previous thread where his education was discussed, generally MIT edges out Caltech in the prestige dept., but they're both top-notch schools. No more ridiculous than making fun of Cambridge or MIT.
  14. I read the early books in her series, but never got this far. I found her style odd, not unreadable, just somewhat strange. Since I tend towards NF, I some times find authors of historical fiction interpretations of historical figures inner motivations and thoughts hard to accept.
  15. If you're interested in Julius Caesar, you might want to consider The Landmark Julius Caesar version of his writings, which has good notes and other info.
  16. I'm reading the NF book The Burgundians: A Vanished Empire by Bart Van Loo, which was a best-seller in Europe. It covers era of basically the Hundred Years War and immediately after. The Burgundians were at the center (literally and figuratively) of everything during that era. I found it very readable.
  17. I raised that point a while back. In the real world one of them would have brought this up when Sheldon made fun of them.
  18. Now they are rebooting "Diff'rent Strokes" and "The Facts of Life"! Isn't there anyone in Hollywood who has an original idea?
  19. I think streaming is ruining television. Back in the 1960s movie theaters ran a campaign against "pay TV" (i.e., cable television). Someone needs to do that now. The networks are nothing but bad game shows, stupid reality shows, serial killers, and doctors. Even the premium cable channels are losing content to streaming services. The streaming services need content so they are outbidding everyone else for even old movies and shows.
  20. Maybe that's the direction they're going in, which might actually be interesting. After all Daddy WARBUCKS was a war profiteer.
  21. This Sunday they are running 4 "Columbo" episodes as "Thanks, Columbo."
  22. I think they did a poor job writing the professor, it made him look more unreasonable than he was teaching Sheldon a lesson. (We don't even really know if Sheldon's final bridge wouldn't have been torn up too. Mixing the "late rule" with the bridge assignment didn't really work as an ending, for me at least.)
  23. It's part of their plan to rename the show "Old Meemaw" and eliminate the rest of the cast.
  24. What's with the overweight Scrooge on the Peloton bike? He looks NOTHING like Scrooge.
