  1. No it was not catfishing, but it was close. He was sending mixed messages hinting around about marriage, etc. to keep them on the hook. Yet the red flags were all over the place with him. How many books and articles have been written warning people that if someone says they're commitment phobic they should believe them? In the end all they are guilty of is being too gullible while he is a deliberately deceptive creep.
  2. I know a mature woman in her 60s who had been married and widowed and then later lived (and broke up with) someone for over a decade fall into this trap with a guy. He came on very strong very fast and I told her that this was a big red flag but after several years of feeling "invisible" to men due to her age and letting herself go it was too hard for her to pay attention to her better sense because it was like a dream come true. Of course my mother used to say "if it seems too good to be true it probably is". But as I said in my previous post I don't really believe that Whitney herself fell into that trap as much as the other women. I think she is too much of a narcissist to really be that hurt by a man and uses them as much as they use her. I also don't believe for one minute that she was serious about converting to Judaism for this guy. I think she invented that for the show to make it look like she was sooooo into him that she would have done that. Same is true for saying she "will never recover". She learned those things from seeing what the other women would have done for this guy and used them to make herself look like she was just as far gone about him as they were.
  3. "Hope springs eternal" - I guess this is evidence of how desperate some of these women are that they would fantasize what is essentially nothing more than a long distance texting relationship into a real one. But come on, this is internet 101 here. This is not 1998 when people didn't know about this stuff and routinely got taken in by scam artists in AOL chat rooms or princes from Nigeria that wanted to send them money. I especially don't believe for one minute that Twit was that gullible or emotionally invested in this guy. Her crocodile tears and all her offhand comments about him gave that away. Oh yeah sure, "she won't get over him", why don't I believe that especially when her statement seemed without much emotion? She was never that into him to get over him! She was probably just having a good time with him like she does with everyone else. What a phony! Twit got all those women together as fodder for the show, not because she needed an emotional support group or because she was concerned about them. I'm sure the only reason they showed up was because they were being paid (including travel) and got to be on TV. I think Nada was genuine and probably did get hurt by the creep, but as she shed real tears it was obvious that Twit wasn't really able to empathize. She just sat there with a blank expression on her face like she couldn't relate. Also, no way was that meeting with Avi the result of a random encounter. I'm sure whoever found him was stalking him for the show because it would make a more interesting scene if they could confront him face to face. Maybe he didn't realize he had his iphone or some app set to reveal his location. It was just a little too coincidental that some friend would just happen to see him in a coffee shop and then let Twit know about it so she could come running down there ASAP.
  4. Obviously Robin was no great loss and it was a coin toss as to which week she would be the one sent packing, but in spite of that I think Milly should have been the one to leave this week. He showed a very ugly side of himself and I actually found myself seeing Robin's point about his behavior given what we saw of him eating all the food and then not pitching in during the clean up. He'd better be the one going home next week. Michelle and Nick will probably be in the final and I predict a Michelle win.
  5. I'm pretty convinced "South Branson" was originally written to be "South Norwalk" but they changed it to a fictitious town because of the town's disapproval of the way it was being portrayed. Especially with the remark "Finally, someone that can kick your ass". There is no Branson or South Branson in Connecticut, while there is a "South Norwalk" with streets that look like the place where the pizza shop was. Taylor's boyfriend is reminding me of Axl's dumb girlfriend in "The Middle" although the show didn't ever make the family like her at all and Axl did end up breaking up with her. I just saw Dietrich Bader in "Office Space". I know that movie forever but never knew he was in it. I recognized him right away, mustache and long hair and all!
  6. I know, I'm with you! Whatever respect I had left for him (which wasn't much) was totally lost on me with that! And he stuck to it despite the female experts and Jamie acting disgusted by it. He made me sick! He is some phony self-proclaimed pastor of the church in his own mind! Even diet Dr. Pepper didn't like it!
  7. I agree the lap dance was desperate and not the way to attract a shy reserved guy at all but it shows that she doesn't know how to approach that kind of person. She is probably used to choosing guys that would love that kind of thing (like Pastor Cal, who said in "Unfiltered" that he would have loved the lap dance!!!). Shawneice doesn't know how to react to someone that isn't into that kind of behavior. I thought it was crass and inappropriate, but hey if she's into that they should have matched her with someone that was also into it and would have loved it! I could have seen from a mile away that Jephte would not be into that stuff and someone like Shawneice in general.
  8. I think the problem with Jephte and Shawneice is that he would have been more comfortable with someone more reserved like he is. And he did say he is reserved about himself in that he likes to take things really slow in terms of getting to know someone and getting close to them. Shawneice is so outgoing that she is one of those people that likes instantaneous "in your face" connection with someone and she's just not going to get that with Jephte. The problem is that she's taking it as a rejection, which is only touching on all her rejection issues and making her act in very self-sabotaging ways that will only push him further away from her. I can remember being on dates with men that were like Shawneice and because I'm generally more reserved myself it was a total turn off to me that they were going so fast for my taste. It was really nothing wrong with them but just not comfortable for me and only made me dislike them. If they then went and acted like Shawneice it would only turn me off even more. So it's like a vicious circle. Then again I really have to hand it to Molly for keeping her head on straight in spite of her obvious attraction to Jon. I just hope she doesn't hang back too much and turn him off. Ryan and Jaclyn - OK they consummated already but I worry about those two for some reason. There is something about him that seems a little twitchy but I can't figure out why - yet.
  9. I would say exactly the same thing. I know she was over the top at the wedding but in her defense I think she saw even then that he was already not into her and was trying desperately to get a positive reaction out of him. Him going on and on about how she's a stranger is only showing that he wants more distance from her and that he's not open to getting to know her. She is understandably taking it as a rejection and it's only coming out as negative which only pushes him further away. Pastor Cal is full of shit that Shawneice can "draw him out of his shell". He should know better by now that that usually doesn't work, especially on this show! She is still living in some kind of 1970s Erica Jong novel fantasy.
  10. I'm no Taco expert but I've been to the Southwest and have had real Mexican food and those tacos did not look very good much less authentic. They were in HUGE flour tortillas and the some of the meat was cut in large bulbous cubes that looked like they were steamed in a frying pan. Ugh. There was little if any sauce and the presentation was as dull as dishwater. They say you eat with your eyes and even I've made better looking tacos than that! I was actually surprised that FT liked them! It sounded to me like they were only having the tacos other than the cake buffet so if that's the case, 3 of of them is inadequate wedding fare even if the tacos are big. There should be some side dishes like salads, beans and rice and an appetizer course beforehand. Weddings usually over feed people and give more choices than just tacos. I just watched a Texas episode of "Four Weddings" where all the couples had tacos with all kinds of side dishes and appetizers to go along with them. I think that FT and Mykelti are trying to get away cheap and still have their 400+ guests rather than cut down on the guest list and offer a decent meal to the guests.
  11. Very true. While her mother is more the obsequious type despite what she thinks of herself, Mykelti is more the type to rebel against that controlling behavior in time when she matures and gets tired of it. A douche like FT will only get worse, not better with age. Mykelti is all enamored of it now because he reminds her of her father, but FT is 100x more controlling than Kodouche ever was and will be omnipresent in her business 24/7 unlike her father! I predict major sparks in this relationship in the future, and not the good kind!
  12. Yep, let alone one that would want to smash a life size piñata of me at the wedding! Now this I would love to do!
  13. Back when I was a kid we had an expression for guys like FT: Ten pounds of shit in a five pound bag.
  14. I couldn't have said this better myself. It's really stretching Ramsay's credibility to overlook the elephant in the room with Elise and act like he's taking her seriously. Is it his decision to do that or some producer's idea? I'm assuming this is basically his show and he doesn't have to do it if he doesn't want to. Whatever it is I agree with you that this is not what the audience wants to see. I'd rather see him reaming her out at least when he sends her home so we know he still has some shred of sanity and integrity left in him.
  15. I've actually been assuming that Rebecca didn't really quit her job and her company has put her out on both FMLA and short term disability at the same time, which would protect her health insurance benefits and give her a percentage of her income as well. While out she would be required to pay whatever co-pay she was responsible for while working and her company would continue to pay the same amount towards her monthly premium as usual. A company can elect to pay all of it, it's up to them. The company can also continue to pay it when FMLA is exhausted and it turns into long term disability. That's up to them too. It is possible to get short term disability for clinical depression or any other mental health issue that requires recuperation. If she did quit her job she doesn't have to go on COBRA if the premiums are too high but can apply for health insurance through Obamacare if that is more affordable. If she not getting an income at all or very little she may even qualify for Medicaid. But I doubt she would really quit if she were on some form of disability because you can't really do that and continue to get disability. Her therapist would have explained that to her and advised her against quitting. If she were terminated from her job that's a different story and she would continue to receive disability payments even though no longer employed until her doctors say she is well enough to work. However I think if she quit, a place like her office they may not have even recognized her resignation and put her down as terminated so she could continue to collect benefits.
  16. This show is my new guilty pleasure. It's so bad it's good. Shatner all by himself is funny enough to keep me rolling. I've known these guys forever but what a hoot to see them together like this. George seems like such a sweetie.
  17. So predictable that they waited until the black jackets to get rid of delusional Elise. I suppose I should be dancing in the streets over it, but what a crock that she ever had any chance in hell of winning. She was there purely for her entertainment value. For all we know her food sucked next to everyone else's.
  18. What a coincidence! I just googled him a week ago wondering whatever happened to him. Sadly he was terminated from that radio station in 2016 when it switched formats to a Spanish sports station. He was on TV in California up until around 2012. I suppose he's retired now.
  19. Didn't a few people on the board predict Rebecca volunteering an egg to Darryl? Very good! I thought it sounded like a foregone conclusion and it was! It was nice to have a little beefcake to ogle at, so thanks, show! Word to the wise for Rebecca: Never break up with a "fit hot guy" thinking you can go back to him when you're ready because he probably won't be lonely for long! Re: the "straight entitled women" taking over gay bars - I hear that complaint because marauding gangs of girls gone wild is what it's all about lately, but the problem as I see it is that straight women don't have very many straight bars to go to to ogle "fit hot guys" dancing or they'd most likely go there! I thought that by now that should be an easy option to find but it somehow is not. Also, it's actually flattering in a way because it means gayness is accepted by more people. Women have always gone to gay bars and been welcome, but now of course it's become more of an obnoxious group invasion rather than one or two well behaved women here and there. Back when I was young a million years ago not that many women went to gay bars.
  20. Yup. I've been to Craft too and agree although it's hard to be as refined as Le Bernardin. You don't really miss the extra salt with Eric's food. As he has been known to say in his characteristic French accent, "You have to elevate dee feesh".
  21. I thought the same thing. The food at Red Rooster doesn't lack for salt. Eric's food is spectacular but the saltiness is restrained. He probably gives that advice because chefs in general tend to like things saltier than the average customer. She was probably overcompensating based on that advice.
  22. I agree, but I would have expected the show to make an issue out of his best friend being female and not ignore it completely. There should have been SOME kind of explanation or exchange between Jon and Molly about her, leading us to believe that Molly was either jealous or not threatened. There was nothing which is making me wonder what's up with that. It's not like this show not to create issues out of any non-issue that looks like it can be squeezed for dramatic value.
  23. This show is such BS. Anyone could have seen a mile away that Jephte and Shawneice would be a mismatch. I think she is insecure and/or senses that he's not going there with her, which is only making her nervous and overreact, pressing the same button over and over again thinking maybe she'll get a response this time. She needs to hang back but she's so afraid of silence that she is compelled to continue to try to fill in the gaps. But the more outrageous she gets the more she turns him off and so he withdraws even more. And so it becomes a vicious circle. How she doesn't realize how this is turning him off is a mystery. She may realize it on some level but be unable to control herself because she is THAT nervous. Judging from his strong mother and his dynamic with her, I'd say Jephte was raised with strict moral and social values, possibly with a strong church background. If that's the case it explains why he would be so put off by Shaneice's blunt vulgarity. Also, I think he is an idealist and thought he would be matched with someone that had a complementary outlook on things, not someone at the extreme end of the spectrum. I think he could be an introvert but it's hard to tell with him retreating from her all the time. Anyone would look like an introvert at the receiving end of her cringe-inducing behavior. Who would want to encourage THAT? It's creepy. I think this show has had a few introverts. Nick was a self-professed one and the experts always called Ashley (the one with David) one. I could believe it with both of them.
  24. So we have a Jaclyn and a Ryan. I noticed the wedding audience chuckled when they got a load of that. Thankfully he's not a 'basement Ryan' but from the looks of things to come she might be sending him to one! So Dr. Pepper has dropped a few pounds and now she's a diet Dr. Pepper! Jonathan is so hot I would have a hard time waiting that long to have sex with him even if it would be the best thing to do. Especially if I was sleeping next to him every night! Shawneice can't be that clueless as to give Jephte a lap dance at the wedding in front of his family, can she? Oh yeah, I forgot it's this show so yes she can be. If she thinks she's going to get a rise out of him (pun intended) with that behavior, she is sadly mistaken. It's only going to send him in the opposite direction. She is shaping up to be overbearing and too easily threatened.
  25. I'm thinking she may be gay. After all, she went to the bachelor party and I've never seen that before.
