I felt like Eli was probably on the way to kill himself or get himself killed and wanted to see his son one last time.

I don't even know what to say. I just.....I mean.....I can't..... So, basically your child should be forced to forsake his own family to take care of you because you couldn't stop drinking? And you won't stop drinking? Thats the game now, because I wasn't really even on your side when I thought you just had a health issue that you couldn't control. But you got to this point by refusing to check into a program and working the 12 steps so now your kid has to take care of you for the rest of your life? Even if it means his family suffers, because you decided that drinking to the point of permanent brain injury was a better idea than going into rehab. Next time I talk to my parents I'm going to thank them. -

IKR! She acted like the performance was her rehearsal! WTF? People in the audience looked like they were straight clowning. I agreed with "throw his stuff out" but Nikki's dumb ass is probably going to trip over it in the morning when she leaves the house. -
I would buy that maybe he would understand the broad strokes of corporate finance, and probably a certain amount of the base business. But many people who start large companies barely understand the complexities of the financial structure themselves. The corporate structure they operate under generally created by those in finance or with a background in law (many times....both). Unless the company was a financial services company, the base business would be something else entirely. High level finance is very specialized field, often separate from the base business. Example, Apple is a tech company, and also a multi billion dollar company. So I would expect that Steve Jobs understood technology, but maybe not complex finance or the web of intricacies involving the legal structure of a company and what it all means. I would expect that there is a legal team and a finance team for all of that. Telecom companies have complex financial/legal structures, and so many of those in charge don't have all the answers which is why they defer to different officers or departments. The point being, I don't think understanding off shore accounts, what exactly a board of directors should and shouldn't know versus what an officer should know, and how exactly Maroney and Falcone got their positions of stock in Wayne Enterprises is the same as a plumbers kid knowing how to snake a toilet or a politicians child knowing the time frame that politicians have to campaign in a mid term election year. I think it would be difficult to wrap a 12 year old mind around that just by listening in at the breakfast table. But even if you were to accept that he understood all of those things, which I think is pretty far fetched, even for a very bright child, even if you accepted that premise you would have to further accept that he figured all of these things out by reading documents very likely designed to hide all of these things, to the point where it was hidden from his own parents. Boxes and boxes of these documents, each one playing a shell game written in confusing, obfuscating language. Whomever was responsible for giving Maroney and Falcone their shares would clearly want it hidden from the world, so sussing that out would have probably been a huge task for an experienced forensic analyst, but a 12 year old kid has figured it out in a few days because he listened to mom and dad talk about the company at the dinner table? I don't know, it doesn't seem likely. He was also in Army Wives (yes, I can admit I watched it!) and I've been in lust with him ever since.

well, it makes sense, Nikki looks like a dude. Yeah, I sort of agree with Ray J too. Not in that I don't think his assistant can't do anything else, but it sounds like she planned to pass the "RayJ.com" bags out, got the gig with Power 106 and then didn't make any alternate plans to get the bags distributed. And thats where my problem is. If she had hired someone else to do the bags because she would be busy, thats fine, but its like the bags just didn't go out because she was busy doing something else. And that is unprofessional, she could have gone through an agency, she could have even gone on craigslist and found a couple of people that wanted to get into powerhouse for free to pass out those bags. Get one of your friends to do it, Hazel E doesn't have anything better going on, and most of the time neither does Tierra, both of them are trying to break into the industry, so it might be fun for them to be backstage at something like Powerhouse, and even not, they could help a friend out. But its like she completely abandoned her job, and then was shocked that Ray J had a problem with it...what? He was supposed to be happy that all this shit he spent money on for the express purpose of passing out at PowerHouse didn't get passed out because you didn't make any other arrangements? Was he supposed to make the arrangements? Aren't you his assistant? I think if it had just been a matter of getting him some water and he was bitching about that, I would just roll my eyes, but it was more than that. Although - complaining to someone working for the company that hired you is also unprofessional, so Ray J can also suck it in that respect. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think Masika has a point, because I don't really think the money matters to Nikki so much as the fact that she thinks she is the prettiest and the fairest in all the land with that ridiculous looking ass, strange hairline and odd makeup choices. For her to see someone else in a position where they were chosen to be the pretty girl on the poster and she wasn't, is going to eat her up from the inside out. -

Newsflash at 16:09! Ray J can't get himself a drink of water unless an assistant gets it! I wonder how he functions at home? -

Now 7 minutes 52 seconds in, and wondering why Fizz thinks that moving in with him is some great opportunity Amanda should be jumping in on. He has all sorts of drama going on in that tiny apartment. With the way that Moniece behaved, and the fact that Fizz lets her get away with it is not a situation I would want to move in with. Why would any woman want to move in knowing that they are constantly going to have to deal with some crazy bitch saying that she needs a call every 5 minutes. Not to mention the additional pressure of having to take on the care of a child, I'm sure his little boy is very sweet, but thats a lot to ask. If anything, he should be begging her to move in and to not just run as far away from this situation as fast as possible, because no offense, but I have to take on caring for a child and I have to deal with your crazy ass ex and you're sporting a modified eraser cut? No thanks. Fizz's demands for support just sound like needing a free babysitter for his kid. Just because she doesn't have much to do doesn't mean that she owes you free babysitting, she is single and she chose not to encumber herself with children, so she doesn't owe you her time, she has every right to spend her free time as she sees fit and she doesn't owe Fizz an "excuse" as to why she won't babysit for him. And this conversation they are having right now, is the conversation he should have been having with her before involving her in his child's life to the point where the kid is super invested. -

Okay, I'm only 3 minutes in, but I have to ask, who is sincere, and why is he dressed like a 1970's version of a black grandmother in his confessionals? Its like a pimp named slickback and carmen santiago had a love child. -
I think thats a very good point, because I was watching the episode is some disbelief too. I certainly wouldn't have even understood the concept of offshore accounts and gifting shares or hiding assets at his age. I barely understand a lot of that stuff now. And to somehow expect that a child has gotten all of that from reading company files designed to mostly hide those things seems odd. Its not like a 9 year old Bruce Wayne took a corporate finance class and then applied all of his learning to the files. Its somehow that he read all of these complex files and magically understood them. I don't think its that he isn't driven, I just think it seems unlikely for him to, after even a few days of just looking at files to know the names for these financial instruments and strategies. I think at best, a person without training, at his age, even if they were super duper smart and able to put it all together may be able to tell that something was up, but I don't know that you could tell much more beyond that. Even with a smart 9 year old I think its a bit much.
-
I think something is up with him. He is just way too involved and seems intent on inserting himself in everything having to do with her. I mean, I get he is Jack's partner and all, but he seems to care way to much and be insistent on knowing everything about Jack's life. If Conrad is somehow magically alive, he may be working for/with Conrad. Or maybe he is working with David. Or maybe with someone Emily sought vengeance on in the past, but I feel like he is up to something. I'm hoping David is super conniving. I wish he would super connive himself to a razor and cut off that facial hair. But, he doesn't seem like that same nice, innocent, sweet guy that went to jail all those years ago. I think this last episode seems to suggest he is up to something, and I'm so happy.

me too. Maybe killing off all my favorite characters was a way to ease me into losing the show, and now that everyone is gone it makes it a little easier. Its like that last day of summer camp where you're so sad to leave all your friends and the good times you had, but then as each of your friends gets picked up by their parents you realize its all over and it makes it a little easier when your mom shows up in the Astro van to take you home.

awwwww, I miss MK so much! I like Zack, but everytime he tries to go quippy bitchy its always "x flamenco dancer"

I thought the romper fit the model very well, so it really seems like MV thing. I could totally see "fly girl" wearing that on a trip to St. Bart's, or to a club in Ibiza.

Strudel-Boy and Cawowine: Irritating Kids in Commercials

I got that more towards the end, but at beginning, I didn't know if it was just some drunk guy swaying on a train. -
Strudel-Boy and Cawowine: Irritating Kids in Commercials
RealityGal replied to OriginalCyn's topic in Commercials
The entire chip commercial is confusing to me. First - the guy looks drunk or hung over. Second - they devote a long time in the commercial to the eyes back and forth thing, which looks like swaying, which could be caused by the fixation on the chip, or because the train is swaying, if they were sitting someplace stationary it would have more impact. Third - I get the silent commercial, I totally get it, but it always seems to me, like if the commercial is silent they should be aiming for either a big, big moment that is crystal clear (the "I'm fixated on a chip so I hit a window" is a big moment, but the actions leading up to it don't support it because the swaying could be caused by the train) or it should be relatively short and get to the point (31 seconds is too long). I think its a funny premise, I just think it could have been done better. -
I think we're gonna find out something has definitely gone sour in Louise's secret sauce. Victoria assumed that a beautiful, rich woman, who looked like she was upper crust wouldn't possibly have any real mental issues, and I think that assumption is going to bite her on the butt. Either Louise is obsessed with getting Victoria to be her mother, and so is going to either work to get with Daniel so she can get closer to Victoria. Or she is going to try to kill Daniel and Charlotte so she can "take over" as Victoria's only child. If she isn't obsessed with Victoria being her mother, than maybe she is out for revenge, and will try to take her down, but I don't know there seems to be some obsession with Victoria bordering on love.
-
Yeah, but if he has been beaten since he left prison, or since Conrad got him years ago, I would at least expect a mixture of old and new bruises. Not just some fresh ones.
-
I definately think thats whats going on. He comes back from Emily's and suddenly he beats himself up and gets himself arrested? He didn't have any old scarring on his back, he was only creating those scars for the police. He was all about doing whatever Victoria said, and suddenly he comes back from Emily's house and he expressly ignores her orders because the nanosecond she leaves he is beating himself up and getting himself arrested? He didn't let her in on his plan, because he didn't want her to know, because he is going to play her. I think he knows that Emily is Amanda, I think he knew that she would know it was him in the lineup, but I think he may have some giant revenge plan for victoria and he doesn't want to involve Emily. But I hope he reaches out to her, because I want to see that moment. But I hope he buys and uses a razor first, his facial hair is not cute. When he told Victoria that he had "analyzed everything" and that he wasn't stupid, my brain perked up. And then there is the fact that he barely seems to give a shit about Charlotte, but then made a show of putting her out as his new "family" in front of the camera. I hope thats true and he has something in store for her.....and for Charlotte, who gets more annoying by the episode. I liked Victoria setting her straight, she bugs. oh, and whats the over under on this new redheaded girl (Lenore?) going all Single White Female on Daniel because she wants Victoria as her mom? I'm guessing she went all Fatal Attraction on someone, or many someones and thats why she was in the institution.

Something always struck me as a little off about that guy. I think a cat is a good match for him.

It could be a giant "fuck you" since they have killed off every character I like. Although, I will know its a giant "fuck you" if they keep Narcisse alive. I think Seigel has been the only fail in the casting for me. Even in old black and whites, Siegel was very handsome, and much better looking than the actor in my opinion. I think that was a big part of who he was. He was this amazingly good looking guy, who was basically crazy. I think the actor seems to play it more twerpy/funny than crazy/funny. The guy in the room with Lansky and Luciano seemed better looking to me. As far as Luciano, I thought he was all about making money with whomever, and that Lansky was one of his closest friends. I think he is going to be too late. When he gets there Gillian will have had a lobotomy or all her teeth will be pulled out. I wonder if they are going to explain how it all works out with Mabel. If he finds Gillian and hands her over to the Commodore for his "guidance." I gotta figure at some point Mabel finds out. I'm not sure if he does this after Mabel loses the baby or before, but I wonder if him doing that, and her finding out has some big impact on their relationship. I'm really starting to intensely dislike Nucky for his treatment of young Gillian, and its going to be the sort of dislike thats going to be deep and its not going to make me sorry if he dies. Although, I will feel better if he kills Narcisse.

I would add too, that the clothing of a certain period doesn't exist in a vacuum, its sometimes a response to, or inspired by the times, the political atmosphere, the economy. And people from a certain era will remember how the clothing made them feel in the context of the time. The hippie look was a response to the stiff, upper lip, patriarchal society of the late 50's early 60's, it seems to be as much about politics as it was about anything else. The 80's shoulder pad, pin stripe suit, yuppie look was a reflection of Reganomics, the economic boom, junk bonds, the Ayn Rand type "Greed is Good" culture. The clothing probably made people, and especially women feel powerful, shoulder pads gave you a strength, a boardroom bitch* ideal that the working woman of the 60's didn't have. I think a designer from the 80's would not only understand all the cultural, social, economic and political influences going on at the time, but how, in light of all of those things, how the clothing made you feel when you put it on. As a woman in the 70's, did putting on a pair of bellbottoms and a tie dye tee shirt make you feel liberated of the social norms that told women they always had to be prim and proper and on display for men? As a woman of the 80's, did putting on that Navy Blue pin striped power suit with the shoulder pads make you feel like you could take on the corporate world, bring home the bacon, fry it in a pan and all that? Maybe a designer who understands all of that will understand how to recreate that feeling, but with an updated look/twist. * - I say "boardroom bitch" as an honest to goodness compliment, I loved every single 80's movie with a woman in control of a company, or in a boardroom....my favorite is still "working girl" with melanie griffith

I think you're right, I think a star is secondary. This is such a strange little show. I almost feel like it should either go a more MasterChef route, or a more American Idol route. Maybe the winner gets a series of webisodes on YouTube or something instead of trying to make them a TV star.

I've always found the easiest way to not talk about something I don't want to talk about, is to simply not talk about it.

Yes, I love the revenge of Chalky through his daughter!
