  1. I also think maybe it would have something to do with the lighting in the room?
  2. I never understood the timeline for the end of S4. Didn't she end up with Luke like...a few days after breaking up with Jason? I mean, I could sort of see how Jason wasn't creepy because Lorelei was very whim-ey and Jason was very tenacious (it's how he got her to start dating him in the first place). It was just really weird to see how quickly they got into the Luke/Lorelei thing because Jason and Lorelei were a pretty good couple before the whole lawsuit debacle. But they were. They had that incredible cringe worthy dinner with Sookie and Jackson over Christopher. They had an even more cringe worthy "makeup" session in Luke's apartment that's just uncomfortable to watch because Luke comes off as so angry with his beer and just on the brink of becoming abusive and Lorelei comes off as scared. Not scared like "he's going to break up with me", but just physically scared. Maybe the actors just chose the exact wrong way to act it, but it came off so close to a domestically abusive relationship, I just can't watch the scene. And I think it was all a misunderstanding on Luke's part in the first place, so WTF? And didn't the Valentine's Day fiasco at Logan's beach house happen before April as well? I don't know what the writers were smoking that particular day. The Luke they wrote was so dumb and so blind I don't even understand. I mean yeah Luke was always emotionally stunted, but he was never stupid. By the end, Lorelei was always walking on eggshells and Luke was always angry. I think the great thing about early S6 was that they did have a stronger relationship. Luke was actually being really supportive and helpful to Lorelei. I mean, you could understand why there was the distance between Lorelei and Rory, there was a reason for it. So even though the situation sucked to watch, it made sense. The characters had reasons that made sense sort of. The end of S6 just sort of tore Luke and Lorelei apart before April and then after April just became this ridiculous trainwreck. But it didn't make sense. I never understood why the characters were doing what they were doing. I couldn't figure out their thought process. And the writing just thought that writing Luke as angry and Lorelei as scared would make up for everything. They just couldn't be themselves with each other and it was confusing and dumb. The weird thing, I kind of liked April. I don't think she's to really blame for the end of L/L even though she's an easy scapegoat. I think L/L shippers should actually thank her because taking care of her helped Luke grow as a person emotionally and mentally. And the end of S7 with the happier more accepting emotionally open Luke is due to his time raising her and fighting for her. Without that, the last L/L scene wouldn't have happened and whatever relationship they would have had in the future would fail horribly.
  3. I don't know how Dean became a city boy from Chicago to townie so quickly. They dropped all the cool Dean attributes pretty early as well. For instance you're right, he was into a lot of cool music AND reading just like Jess, except he was very well adjusted. Somehow he became the creepy boring antithesis of that. From Augustus Waters early on to Edward Cullen later. I get mad at the writers for their inability to write normal males in a relationship. I think Jason may have been the only man capable of not becoming a horrifying jealous overly possessive man-child with a 180 degree personality change from the courting phase.
  4. I'm a person who firmly believes that phones should be put away when you're having dinner or have plans unless there's an emergency. So Glass would bug the heck out of me. I do acknowledge that more and more people are going to have it and things like Glass will be the future. I think Outer Limits did an episode about this back in the 90's. For those people to think that they're basically the next civil rights movement is a bit silly. Can they really not see how it'd be really uncomfortable for other people? Especially in a bar setting? But, for them to be assaulted and harassed is over the top as well. I thought Jason's piece did an ok job trying to cover both POVs. Ok, not great. The news about Iraq is just depressing. Between China and Russia flexing their penises, the Middle East falling apart country by country, and the income inequality increasing all over the world - I just don't even know anymore.
  5. Sookie was the business partner from hell. Wasn't there an episode where they had an uber expensive custom sink from France (I can't fathom why it'd have to be so special, just buy any suitable sink and upgrade when you have money) and Sookie insisted on being the one to sign for it, only to flake out without even letting Lorelei know? Then when Lorelei rightfully freaked the fuck out, Sookie decided that the only responsibility she'd ever have for the inn was to cook? What? I don't think we were supposed to find him physically attractive. We were supposed to find his personality attractive. Who doesn't love a constantly grumpy almost toxic man who once you're in a relationship gets jealous and possessive at the drop of a needle? Though oddly enough, if I lived in Stars Hollow, he'd probably be the person I'd end up being friends with. Everyone else there is just crazy. I can deal with snarky people angry people because I do find it amusing in doses and we'd have a mutual hate of Taylor. So I think my UO is that the citizens of Stars Hollow are all just too much to deal with. I like the feel of the town in terms of how accessible everything is, but living in a place like that with people like that would drive me crazy. Actually I have another UO. I think Lorelei and Sookie treated Luke like shit a lot too. When the Inn burned down, they invaded his diner, literally said to take everything Luke was cooking and toss it in the trash, and then kicked him out of the kitchen. All this without asking him first. Since they knew he'd cave eventually, all they had to do was send Lorelei in first, tell him what happened, and then ask permission. And then there's all those times where they'd go behind the counter without asking, or deliberately flaunting the "no cell phone" rule. Or when Lorelei decided she'd conduct business meetings at Luke's and gave Luke's phone number as her contact number all without asking. After writing this all out, I think I understand why Luke is so grumpy and snarky all the time. He has to deal with really rude and invasive Stars Hollow people everyday.
  6. On the flip side, there was also no reason for the Tok'ra to trust the SGC. For all Jolinar knew, the SGC might try to do shit to her/it for information. If the NID had their way, Jolinar probably would have been tortured.
  7. Another interesting article with some cool info from ATX. . I just think it's funny that now TV is shunning procedurals for more character based shows.
  8. There was an Everwood reunion at the ATX Festival. Here are some pictures and here are some interviews.
  9. I think they've mentioned they want a whole new set of characters each season. Similar to American Horror Story and True Detective. They might use the same pool of actors (like AHS has been) for new characters. Or it might be set in the same world so you might hear mention of Molly and Gus etc...in the next season. I don't think they know for sure yet either.
  10. So, maybe it's because I watch Graham Norton sporadically. But doesn't he usually have all the guests out on the couch at once? What was with the Tom Cruise/Emily Blunt interview first and then having Seth and Charlize out later? It was a pretty funny interview when all 4 were out on the couch even though I have no interested in seeing the 100 ways to Die in the West movie. I'm not much of a Family Guy fan anymore and kind of think Seth McFarlane has written a ton of crap - he's a very talented voice actor. Did Coldplay have a player piano so Chris Martin could just bounce around?
  11. stillshrimpy, is Sparks a nickname we've given him? Like, he's sparkling because he's new? His name is Jordan Klepper?
  12. I don't get these open carry people. With all the shootings that are taking place, do they think it's the smartest of ideas to bring their freaking AK's or AR's or whatever it's called all over the place? It's not just infuriating, it's terrifying. Does Texas have an equivalent to Florida's Stand Your Ground laws? Do other states have Texas' open carry law? Here in New York, it would not end well. The stand off at the Golden Corral idea sounds entirely plausible under the wrong conditions. And yeah, what if it were a group of black men? Part of me wants to see what would happen because it'll be really controversial, the other part knows that it'll just end so poorly. I'm really liking Jordan, I think he's getting into the flow of things. Michael is really stiffly reading the teleprompter. I can't tell if this is a character choice or if he's just naturally awkward in front of the camera. But I felt that way for his first episode as well, so we'll see. But he's not grating or horrific like Munn or Gad so I'll give him a pass for now. I'm glad that was the clip of the movie they showed, because it captured it perfectly. Went to a showing of Edge of Tomorrow after being dragged out of bed last night and loved it. Fun scifi action movie that is really funny (not even over the top dumb funny, just little things they put in or little acting choices that are great). Jon was right about the video game feel to it. It premiered on the anniversary of D-Day for a reason and I'm sure there will be a sequel be a movie or video game because the ending has a really great unintentional throwaway line. Even if you hate Tom Cruise, watch all the inventive and hilarious ways they kill him off.
  13. I'm betting Bryan Cranston and Neil Patrick Harris. They've both already cleaned up the other award ceremonies.
  14. I'm not Ujio, but they were in different categories for the Critics Choice Awards.
  15. Edge of Tomorrow was released in the UK last week. It gets released in the US this week. Probably explains it. Must be some negotiation because Jon Stewart barely watches any of the movies unless they have a chance of being Oscar nominated.
  16. He was wearing someone else's suits. At the time, they couldn't really afford much of a wardrobe. So for the first little bit, Jon was wearing suits fitted for Craig Kilborn who is 6'5".
  17. The problem is that the studying people are doing are still on anti-vac sites which say the same wrong things over and over again. I've definitely encountered patients who do list specific talking points that I've seen repeatedly on the internet. From misinformation about how vaccines are supposed to work in general to what is in the vaccine. Truth be told, regardless of how much explaining the attending does or has us do - it's quite hard to change the minds of these people. Most of them have little to no biological background except the websites they frequent. No matter how rational they may think they sound, even when we try to give the medical or scientific reasoning, they immediately shut down to what we are saying. So in a way, it's similar to climate change deniers simply because most people who are denying climate change haven't studied it and presume to know more than people who are researching it. It's ignorant and it's dangerous.
  18. I think I almost rolled my eyes out of my head when Samantha Bee was interviewing the anti-vacs woman. So much of what those people believe are based on a discredited report by a now unlicensed doctor. I'd like them to go to India where they just eradicated polio and tell them that nonsense over there. I think of the health aid workers in Pakistan trying to help the people with their preventable viruses who have been killed by the extreme religious people there who are against "western vaccinations". I have so many words that I want to use, I'll just stop now. I think it's sad that people are just accepting shootings and just saying that it'll happen and nothing can be done. Blaming everything from divorce to video games is ridiculous. I will agree that the UCSB kid is a different case in that half his victims were stabbed to death, and he injured I think 18 people by trying to run them over. But the fact that someone as fucked up as he could get a gun, or 3 guns, is really something that needs to be discussed. I don't know how blaming a girl who may have pushed him once in 4th grade, or the roommate who moved out because he was freaked out, or even blaming girls for not putting out (by equally messed up people to be honest) - will have a positive effect for possible future incidents. His manifesto had outlined a really gruesome massacre and him having those guns were central to it. Will Bassem be a new correspondent for the show?
  19. Shades of Grey is definitely one of my favorite SG1 episodes of all time. You know, I've never paid attention to the music in 100 days before, so I'll check that out when I watch the episode.
  20. She seemed to be ok with Jason as well. But I guess part of that came out of just trying to piss off her mom.
  21. Wait, this is an unpopular opinion? King of the Hill was genius and I was really disappointed that it was taken off Netflix last year. Bob's Burgers is the current crops KotH and it's also getting the shaft from Fox the upcoming season (the sports pre-emption slot that doomed KotH and Futurama). Fox just hates their well written animated shows. My UO is I actually like some of the new Simpsons episodes - there have been instant classics to be found in the past 3 seasons. Not as consistent as it used to be, but still just fun to watch. My other UO is that aside from Cosmos, Seth McFarlan shows are terrible. I guess it's great that he found the success he did to be able to do Cosmos, but Family Guy and everything of it's ilk are crap.
  22. Excited for both Gigi Ibrahim and Robert DeNiro. I find Ricky Gervais annoying. He's a guy who while I love his products, made me hate him via twitter. Thank goodness Jon has a good time with him during interviews or I'd never watch it. Tom Cruise has his issues, but I think he's the only big name actor in Hollywood who consistently does decent original scifi movies. As a scifi fan, I do have to give him that. So much has happened the past week, Jon's going to play catch up for a bit.
  23. Is the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who wrote this article the basketball player guy?
  24. I don't think Lorelei ever actually liked Logan. It came off as pretty tolerant at best. She didn't have the same outright hatred for him that she did for Jess, but she always seemed to be only ok with Logan just to make Rory happy. She hated his family, she hated where he came from, and she hated what he represented. I think Emily called her out about that a few times and Logan did as well in the episode where he spends the night at their house (the one with the hay bale maze).
