No, not that she arrested Eleanor, but that she shot someone--the Father-- while in Mexico....IMO anyway

S40.E01: Chris Pratt/Ariana Grande
fauxphysician replied to BoogieBurns's topic in Saturday Night Live
it's a sad , sad day--and a bad, bad night for SNL-- when there's more Kate McKinnon face time in the promo(s) than in the entire show! And as was said u8p thread-- 'they had all Summer to pitch ideas, and that's all they came up with?' bah -
I wonder if Daniel's "guilt" turns out to be that he witnessed the girl's rape and murder and was unable ( because of fear and/or being stoned) to try to save her

Wow. A late- term abortion on prime time TV-- and presented accurately , as they occur in real life, heart-wrenching, devastating, but medically necessary. I really cannot recall having this being done/shown before. I am most impressed.

This episode is airing on On Demand. Much shorter than usual--39 minutes

I,too, hope the pregnancy storyline ends soon. In the R & I books (in case anyone here hasn't read them), Rizzoli is married to an FBI agent and they do have a child (daughter) (and Maura is hopelessly in love with a priest). But in the books there's no sexual tension/attraction between the two women; just as deep and important a friendship, but no "push-pull" pings on a reader's gaydar. I think the wonderful natural chemistry that the two actors enjoy--as well as the purposeful teasing of the large lesbian fan base -- prompted the writers to come up with this s/l. Gotta make sure that these two are/remain straight (wink, wink)

Re Jude -- Since this Show likes to take on large issues , I've been wondering since the get go (painted nails scene) if they're going to have Jude question/explore his gender identity. Whether or not Jude may be gay would be small potatoes compared to the other .

I checked the Showtime site, and they are not releasing the final episode prior to it airing on Sunday night. Its On Demand schedule begins next Monday ( 6/30). Rats! I've gotten into the habit of seeing them all in advance,

The opening scene, with its long, slow pan of the snow, discarded snow mobile and then focus on the crackled ice and hole made me that that would be the closing shot. Wasn't disappointed that we got the family on the couch instead. Am avidly hoping that there's more "Fargo" in our futures-- even if they chose not to bring back any of the current Cast and story lines , action could easily be set in a different town with Fargo as a minor connection (as it was in this series). My preference would be more Molly et al--either as the main arc or at least a prominent sub plot. Hell, they could tell the story of Sioux Falls--as it occurred-- and then skip to present time and have Molly solve it!

Almost the best thing about tonight's concluding episode, is that I have NO idea what all will transpire. 'Have lots of ideas and things that I'd like to see happen, but the Show has done such a good job of surprising me with the unexpected all season . And that's a high compliment.

Interesting that Mary Steenburgen is joining the Cast. She's scheduled for a decent story arc on "Justified"'s next and final season

Another positive and enthused review of S2-- Matt Zoller Seitz at New York Magazine

This show is such a delight! I love that it doesn't do the TV tried and true expected-- for instance, when Gus was in the car talking to Molly and the camera started panning to the left over the theme music, Malvo did NOT appear suddenly and shoot him. Loved too, how Lester has evolved into a more suave Sam Hess, but the mere sight of Malvo causes his swagger to collapse and the sad sack/loser mannerisms to re-appear. Bravo Martin Freeman!

Anticipation for Colbert's Late Show
fauxphysician replied to A Boston Gal's topic in The Colbert Report [V]
I have a question-- is Stephen/TCR doing a subtle countdown to the end of the Show on Comedy and the move to CBS? (Bear with me please) At the beginning of each show, we see Stephen dropping through various banners and then planting his flag. As far as I've been able to tell, the messages on the banners do not change...except for one, and that one from time to time will have some new saying or bon mot on it. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that it said, "98". Last night it said, "90". Has anyone else noticed this ? If so, does anyone know the answer or significance? Feel free to tell me if I'm over thinking! thanks -
"Molly" is listed in the Cast Credits for the remainder of the Season, so that's good news! But, was that a huge blood stain near/beneath her in the snow? The total whiteout made it hard to determine.

When Elizabeth was seen staring off into the distance, mulling over Paige's future, I so wanted her to opt to let the girl go to Church Camp and be a counselor-in-training (as a means of channeling her altruism in a less harmful way), but being the zealot that she is, I knew that she couldn't choose that option. I think ,too, that Elizabeth really wants to be able to share her 'life' with Paige--at long last-- just as she thought that she was able to do with Jared ("...this is how I really look..."). Love this Show, and cannot wait for Season 3 !!

Molly making a beeline to the washing machine and removing its back panel seemed improbable -- in fact, the first misstep for me in the series to date. So many other nooks and crannies she'd explore first (IMO).

"The Daily Show": Week of 4/21/14
fauxphysician replied to trow125's topic in The Daily Show With Jon Stewart [V]
Both Jon and Stephen did wonderful jobs skewering Bundy and his apologists/supporters (and if you want an excellent primer on the sick and dangerous 'movement' lurking on the edges. check out Rachael Maddow's and Chris Hayes' programs last week). My one disappointment was Jon's interview with Elizabeth Warren . She was unresponsive to several of his questions, and he let it slide. -- An unfortunate first, for both of 'em -
Still with it too, but it's getting tougher as the plots slip toward 'rinse & repeat' mode. It was a more compelling show when Akalitus had teeth and O'Hara could call Jackie on her shit. BTW, does anyone know why Eve Best left the Show?
-
Surely to "Poe", our long, Nat'l nightmare is almost over, and there will NOT be a season 3???? Does anyone know for sure?
-
I read an interview with the show runners, in which they explained Horik's motivation-- that he had no intention of freeing Borg; instead, that he held out hope so that Borg would suffer more ('people who have hope tend to suffer more when that is denied than people who have no hope at all'). Maybe so, but the actor covered it too well and the scene was weaker for it.

I've never watched GA, so I came to this show as a Shonda virgin. Got hooked by what I saw first Season, but now--Blech. It's fast becoming unwatchable. Won't even make it on to my 'hate watch list, like the Blacklist and the Following. What a waste of a great premise and an interesting Cast

Probably THE worst episode yet!! (And that's quite the achievement, given the dreck we've been subjected to to date.) No surprise that Ryan and Mike were late to the frat party. The twist would be if he/they ever got there in time! And was that a hint of cannibalism at the 'Mandy Dinner Party'? If so, at least it gave the actors something to chew on besides scenery .

Ahhhhh, so this is where TLW followers meet up-- besides JB's Twitter account* !! ( Seriously, is any one else interested in an L Word Forum here? I see that there's one for "I Love Lucy" and "Lawrence Welk"; why not "TLW" ?) As for how we'll watch S2, my Wife ( we live in Delaware, so that's NOT wishful thinking!) and I are going to try to exercise some restraint. We binge-watched the first season in one glorious weekend of indulgence (showers? meals? hell, the dogs had to let themselves out!), and then, tho' sated, fell into severe Orange withdrawal. So our goal is to limit ourselves to maybe two episodes at a time. (that was the plan for "House of Cards" too, but......) So glad to have this Forum, and this new community! (* In case you don't follow Jennifer Beals on Twitter, on April Fool's Day, she posted that Ilene was interested in staging an L Word musical!! Hell, I'm still waiting for the movie!)

Well to be fair (lol), the producers said that "Steve/Jimmy" was dead--- which leaves the door wide open for, "Jack"!! I, too, liked the character until the stupid immigration-marriage/drug king pin storyline he was saddled with last Season, because he served as an anchor for Fiona. Here's hoping for a better next Season for all the Gallaghers. And as much as I admire Joan C-- pull-ease, less Shelia! And while I'm at it, LOSE SAMMI!! She and her son just aren't interesting, nor can I imagine them ever being integral --even as a 'family' for Shelia. -+
