Joe & Kendra: Looking Forward To Side Hugs
PikaScrewChu replied to Quilt Fairy's topic in Counting On
I assumed it was a get to know you trip with Madi Nicole that didn't pan out. She relocated to Arkansas shortly before the Greece "vacation". Her and family seem to be Duggar clingers like the Swainsons. Does anyone remember Lydia of Purple and the ads for her daughters on the website? That's what the pictures of Lauren Caldwell come off as. They got one Caldwell. Lauren has to look elsewhere. Maybe she can go court the other Keller boy. -

If she's pregnant, (and that is an if) it gives the Caldwells an even larger platform. "Look! Our daughter married into the Duggars! And we are just like them! Come follow us on Twitter and Instagram! Visit Pastor Caldwell's church! We do missionary trips to Greece!!!!" -

Is this worth watching? I'm watching this season of Big Brother and it seems the majority of them were Love Island rejects. -

Ma and Pa Caldwell clearly like the attention of Ma and Kendra being pregnant at the same time. It gets them on the TeeVee. -

When people were pointing out how JoKen seem best suited I was reminded of JB and Michelle. Those two are obviously in love with each other. However they decided to string along 19 kids into their fundie fantasy. It's worked out peachy keen for those two so far. Their kids and grandchildren are not going to fare as well once the TeeVee money goes away. The grandchildren are essentially being set up for a life of poverty. -
Don't forget elaborate animal acts! It doesn't help I dislike Julianne Hough. Gabrielle is an improvement over Heidi and Mel B. I think I'm done watching for good now. It's bad when there are only two acts I remember from all of the audition rounds (before this episode) and one is the Tequila Guy.
-
Is the show limping along this year or is it just me? I feel like I've seen some variation of most of these acts since AGT started. At this point I feel like I'm only watching for Terry Crews.

Glad to hear this news and let yourself take time to recover!

Joe & Kendra: Looking Forward To Side Hugs

It's nice to be happy as a couple but they're going to be dragging at least a dozen children (at this rate) into a world where said children are going to be under-educated and woefully unequipped to deal with life outside the Duggar compound. That's not entirely fair of them to do to the next generation. But I guess if they're happy. -
Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp

Yeah that's what I was referring to. I knew people who weren't high risk that got it done ASAP but paid out of pocket when it first came out and it was around 700-800 dollars. For some it was a matter of finding out if there were chromosomal abnormalities. For others it was the novelty of finding out the sex ASAP. Money makes the world go round. I'm going to be point blank with this. Yes decent prenatal care may have not prevented this. However I've had friends who were evangelical Christians who dealt with the same situation as Joy but with excellent ob/gyns who were there through every step. There is a lot of medical and psychological help available if they detect something wrong (provided you're with a good ob/gyn) that isn't some fly by night church "counselor". It has helped them get through the loss. Marriages and other relationships have broken up over much less. As much as their faith forbids divorce, this takes a toll. And now you have Lauren screeching about Asa which may hurt family relationships. I'm always wary of "their faith will provide comfort". Their faith tells them they are supposed to be open to as many children as possible and Joy has been raised in an environment where pregnancy (minus Jubilee) goes a-ok. There's a disconnect between their faith giving comfort and how their faith instructs them to live their lives. At least how I see it anyway. Unfortunately I don't think they will seek out psychological help. We will get a Very Special Episode about them finding out and then another Very Special Episode about how Joy is coping after Kendra and Lauren give birth instead. -

They're doing genetic tests now that can detect chromosomal abnormalities earlier and earlier. I remember friends doing them. However they are generally only available to people who can afford them. There's also a stigma in a lot of evangelical Christian communities in getting genetic tests done because you should love a baby no matter what, even if it will pass away in utero or die shortly after birth. -

Boutique ultrasound places cannot offer diagnostic care where I live. They would have told Joy and Austin to go see a medical professional ASAP. I looked at a few boutique ultrasound websites in my area and they do not recommend doing the ultrasounds earlier than 25-26 weeks but it is a bit different here. Most medical ultrasound places won't reveal the sex at all. So you do the diagnostic ultrasound and then go get the boutique one if you so desire. I don't know about Arkansas though. -

She was due early-mid November. Kendra is due first, (was) followed by Joy, followed by Lauren, and finally Anna. Lauren's due date has been speculated as November 17th because of an Amazon registry. -

I wonder if she was getting any prenatal care besides woo woo midwives and Jill. Knowing this family, probably not. That picture of her and Austin is clearly at the hospital since Joy has an IV in her arm. I know we all speculated that something "bad" was eventually going to happen to one of the women during pregnancy. I didn't think it was going to be so soon. -

The only thing that gives a spark of hope is that Lauren Markle kept from mentioning her miscarriage directly in the anniversary post. Can't snark on this one. I hope they get the care they need and get actual support. -
I don't think Jing and Jeremy have the foggiest clue what they've gotten themselves into. I follow some of the reality TV fandoms. Huff Po had an article recently on how toxic the "fans" can get. I can't find it at the moment. Their world has been limited to Instagram and Twitter where they can easily block people. They start creeping into the other facets where reality TV stars are peddling crumbs to fans? Oh no honey...

It's her profile picture on Cameo.

Loads of former reality TV contestants do it. It is an easy few bucks. I am surprised it took a Duggar this long to get on Cameo.

You'd be surprised at the level of exploitation and the lack of agency some of the models have. It's very cult like. One of my friends worked for a few different fashion houses in Europe and at the time some of them were just kids. I don't know if things have changed since she left for North America. She was struggling to find work because they expect their female workers, even if they are just pattern cutters, to be almost as scary thin as the models they hired. She simply couldn't starve herself to that level. Different topic for a different day though.

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
PikaScrewChu replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
Bea Arthur and the TV show Maude are iconic. Don't you all put that curse upon her legacy by having a Duggar named Maude, smh. More Bea Arthur gifs are needed around here. Maybe it's time to retire my Simpsons reaction gifs. -
To be honest it's at the point that they all blend together, IBLP or not. The only ones who don't (to me) are the Jeubs and Arndts. The Jeubs, because their retention rate of keeping their adult kids in the cult is on the low side. The Arndt kids are never leaving the safety of Mommy and Daddy. Plus Mommy Arndt wears short shorts. How defrauding.
