But why would it be better for Mrs. P to talk with Carson about Mrs. H's errr..."status?" I'd think that it'll be even MORE uncomfortable/improper?
-
Whoops, I must have clicked on the wrong cast member (and did not read the name) when I was on IMDB. Joanne is 36 as 1979 is listed as her birth year - the same year as me!
-
The actors who play Bates and Anna are 67 and 36 respectively, but I think they're both playing a bit younger?
-
Hahaha on the anachronistic note. I guess this means George's grandson, who'd be in his 30s in 2015, would have flying cars (wait, weren't we supposed to have them this year? I mean, BTTF Part Two, right?).

International university students go gaga over Mr. Bates...

The ice cream parlour in my neighbourhood is supposed to be seasonal, but due to the warm weather we've been having lately, they're STILL OPEN (they typically close after Halloween). Just bought some Bailey's flavoured ice cream. So delicious over mini chocolate tarts! :)

Leftovers! We had Christmas dinner last night because it was the only day the entire family (or rather, family members on my/my dad's side who live in Toronto) was in town! Note: We like making turkey breast rather than a whole turkey. Quicker cook time and it stays moist! I also don't cook everything. Some of our sides were from Whole Foods or family members. :)

I was introduced to kugel by my (now) husband! And yes, it's delicious :) Interesting note: According to WIkipedia, "kugel" in South African Jewish slang is an insult. Think "Jewish American Princess."

Not to mention Jenny Prezioso. Didn't her mom dress her like a princess all the time? I can't believe I still remember these books. I don't think I've read a BSC book since the early 90s.

Tonight? Balsamic mustard rubbed turkey breast (roasted), asparagus and store bought latkes. Also cooked apple chunks in apple butter (for the latkes).

For people from my grandparents' generation (born in the 1920s), yeah. I don't recall my maternal grandmother going to one, but she considered herself a "modern woman" who went to a convent school, dated and went swimming. I don't know if my paternal grandmother even finished Grade 6 and I think she consults one more often. Maybe. Don't know about the grandfathers. Don't think it's a guy thing. In my family, anyway.

I don't think I've purchased a drugstore brand foundation since I was in university. Most drugstore brands don't make decent shades for mediumish East Asian skintones anyway. I DO purchase foundations at drugstores, but only department store brands. Plus I get points at Shoppers. Lip stuff, on the other hand is a different story. I kind of have an addiction to Maybelline's Baby Lips. As for palletes, etc, I recently purchased a Bobbi Brown shadow/lip gloss pallette, but I don't think it's available anymore. I checked both Sephora and Holts!

Holy cr@p! She's already taking AP Calc??

I agree re: Chopped. Though I've been modifying recipes (usually making them lower fat/cutting calories) for a while - before I started watching the show. The internet helps too.

Apple tarts? Peel, cut into chunks, cook until soft, fill, bake (and maybe add some nuts on top for crunch).

Brown, black and blue. https://www.benefitcosmetics.com/product/view/theyre-real There's this, too: https://www.benefitcosmetics.com/product/view/theyre-real-limited-edition

Benefit's They're Real! is one of my favourites! Have you tried their blue or brown mascaras?

I'd love to make banana, bluberry, cranberry or apple bread without ANY sugar (depending ONLY on the fruit for sweetening). Is this possible? What about reduced sugar brownies or cakes? How much reduction can those take? I know that less sugar IS possible, since European cakes are less sweet.
-
Hey expert bakers: If I want to halve the amount of sugar for a recipe, what's the best substitute? Thanks! :)

Yeah, but the dog thing isn't unique to white people. Though other than an older couple in my building, I don't think I know any Asians with BIG ones. Most keep medium sized dogs. But I've found that the smaller ones are those who are the most hyper.

Speaking of New Year's, PRguy and I always stay in on NYE and order in Indian. We then ring in the new year with some bubbly at midnight. :) Nice and relaxing! As for Christmas, I'm hosting this year and need side ideas. Any suggestions? We're probably having between 10-12 people.
-
Same here. It was a wedding gift (PRguy and I married five years ago) and we've used it maybe three times. I'm mostly lazy and mix by hand.
-
I made an old favourite last night: Baked sweet potatoes with a turkey and vegetable sauce (basically ground turkey breasts, onions, frozen veggies and tomato sauce). Tonight, PRguy and I are going to a fundraiser at a church for their upcoming trip to Ireland. Dinner is apparently Irish-themed.

Fresh's Sugar Lip Treatment. I think I own EVERY SHADE in the tinted balms and most shades in the gloss (aka Shine)! My favourites are Honey, Fig (only available in balm) and Nude and Berry (drugstore-wise, I LOVE Maybelline's Baby Lips). I am also now completely obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury's Wonderglow primer. It's expensive at $65 Canadian, but you don't need a lot and it lasts a long time (Holt Renfrew FINALLY joined the 21st century and is beginning to roll out e-commerce. Seriously, what took them so long? And it's only beauty products until 2016). I tend not to wear heavy foundations, so my regular go-to product is Amore Pacific's cushion compacts. They SEEM expensive, but you're really getting two in one - each package comes with a refill, so it's more or less the same price as Lancome's version. ETA: I also have quite the collection of BITE Beauty lip products. However, I *STILL* can't bring myself to wear bright red lipstick. It just seems...fake on me.

I think many women have the same issue with too many lipsticks. Lipstick (as well as cheese and chocolate) is my crack. :P
