Saw a guy jogging in a high end shopping district last night wearing short shorts (think 1970s/1980s basketball jerseys), shoes and nothing else. At least he was in fairly decent shape.

OK, I am obsessed with Claire's wardrobe. I Googled House of Cards costumes and found out that Robin Wright uses her own stylist for the show (rather than a show stylist). Various articles note that pieces come from brands like Michael Kors, Derek Lam, Jason Wu, etc (some other pieces are the stylist's own creation)... while I can't most of these brands, they're simple enough that I can get similar styles at Zara and the like. Maybe that's why I'm drawn to the pieces. Even though I'm close to 15 years younger than Robin Wright. Anyone else like this kind of style? Or do I sound like a boring old fogie at 35?

I made frozen banana (though The Kitchn refers to it as "ice cream"), inspired by a recipe from said site and served it when we had family over for dinner. I added some kefir into the mixture (i.e. no longer vegan) and swirled it with strawberry sorbet (which I made myself). Here it is in the freezer-friendly container.

Your parents made you dress up to fly? I hope you didn't have to go to Asia or Australia! As for those 90s themed parties kids throw: I recent saw a girl who was maybe 23, tops wearing a plaid shirt tied around her waist and Doc Marten like boots. I was thinking "was she even BORN when that look was in?"

Sesame Street does the best parodies. And pigs... Too bad there were no rib references. Or is that good enough? (Sorry, I just got into the show. Trying not to read the other threads as I'm only halfway through season 1)

They make ice wines, but also "regular" ones. The place is called Strewn Winery (there is a link to the cooking school). They don't have a B&B and it's a bit more isolated from the main town area. It was really cold and dreary when we were there on Saturday, so we didn't get to see much of the area. Did buy two bottles, though. :)

Thanks! The dip was made with another couple, but the other dishes were made by my husband and myself. I was the plater :) (the dessert kind of fell a part. Personally, I would have made individual ones in ramekins rather than a pie plate. An instructor topped it with the whip though).

Took a cooking class in Niagara-on-the-Lake today. Made delicious goodies! I'd say that the dip was my least favourite. It really lacked flavour (garlic would have helped and probably why they called it a dip rather than hummus).

Please Sir, I Want Some More: Foods You Never Get Sick Of

Is it weird that I love the detox salad from Whole Foods (includes cauliflower, carrots, currants, broccoli and seeds)? I could eat it all day and have used it as a substitute for rice or quinoa. -

My dad feels this way too. He thinks not eating meat = not a "real" meal. He also thinks all meals should include some sort of grain which I'm not a big fan of. I had lunch with them recently and brought over some fish and salads to share. He asked me where the bread/rice/other grain was. I said that I didn't get any and that there was corn and cabbage slaw. He wasn't convinced. :( -
Hey, Indian/Thai can be an even WEIRDER combo. I had butter chicken and a veggie stir fry with "Thai sauce" (that tasted (to me, anyway) more Chinese than Thai...and not exactly Indian style Chinese food either. Just stuff that people in my family might make if they wanted to clear the fridge) over saffron rice pilaf. At least Japan and China are geographically closer (well, certain parts of China, anyway).

Made baked eggs in muffin tins last night. Tonight we're ordering from an Indian/Thai fusion place and tomorrow, the parentals are coming for an early Father's Day dinner. I bought a pre-marinated chicken which I'll stick in the oven and will also make cauliflower "rice" and some vegetables. We ordered a cake for dessert.

I think the only item I own with writing on the butt were these over sized scrub pants I got when I was a frosh (first year/freshman) in university. It had the school's name on it and everyone got them. Might have been a swag. Don't remember. It was in 1998.

I won't wear shorts that are shorter than two or three inches above my knee. And when they're that short, my shoes are no more than one inch. I don't want to look like I'm heading to a club during the day!!

Just cheese lasagna? Not spinach and cheese? Or mushrooms? I like meatless as well, but I want some other vegetables in mine. :) -
Paneer and vegetable curry - Paneer with onions, eggplant, zucchini and spinach with dried spices (garam masala, tumeric and cumin) and tomato puree - served over freekeh, topped off with a dab of plain Greek yogurt. Husband said he liked it, but I think I liked it more.

Lazy, lazy Friday, so we ordered in. Shared a goat cheese and village salads with my husband as well as a very substantial one person portion of pasta with veal sauce and vegetables. For dessert, we had ice cream and sorbet - hazelnut, chocolate-y chocolate (ice creams) and a lemon and blackberry sorbet (think Nutella with jam). :)
-
Didn't think of that (we rarely make it, but should), so it went to compost. Oh well, next time.

Bought a whole roasted chicken from the grocery store yesterday and ate half. Tonight, the rest will be "repurposed" into a noodle dish with shredded kale and carrots.

First of all, I am saddened to hear of the death and may Victoria rest in peace. However, nannies and other childcare providers are a very real situation. Not everyone can have a parent staying at home. Practically everyone I know either sends their children to daycare or has someone come in on a daily basis to help. It's just a way of life, especially when both parents work. -

The 40-something guys I see in my circle look younger than Jeremy does. And they have stressful jobs. Some might be a little chunkier than they were at 20 and may have lost a bit of hair, too. Maybe ranch life is different from the mostly lawyers, doctors, accountants, marketing, creative and financial people in my circle. -
Slowcooked turkey drumsticks with zucchini, eggplant and tomatoes served over "detox salad" from Whole Foods (basically a mix of broccoli, cauliflower, sunflower seeds, lemon juice, carrots, currants and a few other ingredients). Too lazy to make a side dish - LOL!

I saw a few minutes of it. Jeremy hasn't aged all that well. Stopped watching because the billionaire guy was too creepy.
