S01.E10: The Winner: The Next Global Brand
SuprSuprElevated replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Making The Cut
This show was a 10-part Amazon infomercial, hosted by Joe and Jane Stickfigure. Tim, who I used to enjoy and respect, has sold his soul to the teevee gods. His slobbering and chin wobble affected me the same as did Geoffrey, this season's PR winner. It's a turnoff. Get thee to a doctor for an anxiety med. The production values sucked, the music/musical editing sucked, the cinematography 90% sucked, the fayshun sucked. Bezos has enough money to A) Toss it away and write it off to a bad investment, or B) Do it again just because. I was actually more interested in these last two episodes than the first 8 combined, which doesn't mean a hulluva lot. Johnny had the best faux shop, and the best ass kissing technique. Neither he nor Esther will be the Next.Global.Brand. God I'm bitchy. Quarantina at your service. -

Heidi's reputation for bad style precedes her. 'Her taste is all in her mouth', as my father would ineloquently say. Exactly what I said to the dh. -

I had second-hand embarrassment for all of them. A poster said ^upthread, that these weren't friends, they're co-workers, and that's correct. Can you imagine behaving like this with people you work with? I realize that this footage is edited, and likely edited to show the worst of the worst, but I can't imagine consuming the quanitity of alcohol required to become this out of control at my age, and I'm basically the same age as many of these women. I hope this isn't representative of the rest of the season.

Exactly what hubs and I just said! With the exception of maybe Cameran. She hasn't really aged much imo. -

I have always enjoyed Shirley Knight's work, without knowing it was Shirley Knight. As with an actor who recently passed, she had a lifetime of quality work, with no evidence of being a publicity hound. When we watched her at her craft, we were seeing the character, not the actress. If that makes any sense. -

Someone who is booked for a dinner date also. -
I have consistantly liked Meghan's garments for the most part. Esther's appear to be well made, but "this is a design competition, not a sewing competition", and I don't find her all black, cinched waist repetition to be compelling. Johnny SkinGraft (that really is an awful brand name), has been hot and cold for me. I've either really liked or really disliked what he's sent down the runway.

If they haven't actively been marketing at-home versions of both Cut & the CBD biz, then they'll lose them both I would think. Cali will be one of the more conservative states to return to normalcy I would think, and if they aren't keeping Cut in the foreground, they'll be in the back of everyone's minds when it does happen. Both of the businesses are also-rans in crowded spaces. Don't imagine Tams and & Ed have chunked a bunch into savings, but who knows? -

If the items selling out on Amazon is the barometer for Bezos to keep this shit show going, then there may be a very slim chance of a second season, but I have to believe that most of those buying decisions are being made by people who want the story to tell at the water cooler, and have some extra bucks to vomit. IF there is a second go at this, that novelty will wear off, and unless some serious changes are made, this dud is dunzo. I'm unaware of who the real producers of this thing are, and I don't imagine Tim and/or Heidi have anything more than superficial input, but it's truly, amazingly, badly produced. Maybe the reason we get such poor actual looks at the garments is to drive business to the Amazon site for a better look. Nothing else makes sense. Anyway, you all have a nice um, quarantine. Stay healthy~ 😷
