  1. I totally agree (with the possible exception of Tina Fey - I'm always happy when she comes back for a cameo, probably because she doesn't try to be the center of attention or suck the air out of the room like others (*cough*Wiig*cough*) do).
  2. Was Amy Adams even in this show? It seems like she had minor parts in a handful of skits, while most of the main players were featured a lot more. Heck, even Kristin Wiig had more to do this show. You guys consistently write funnier skit ideas that what actually airs!
  3. I echo everyone's sentiments that Sam's exit is long overdue. I was shocked she wasn't in the bottom this week. I was also stunned that Helen's hoochie Xtina red carpet look from 2001 (minus dreadlocks, piercings, and hooker shoes) was in the top 3. It wasn't until they were deliberating that I realized she wasn't in the bottom. I sort of wondered if Michelle purposely made the bottom of her dress that shape when she heard they were designing for Alyssa after she gives birth. That's a feature that might help to accommodate/disguise extra weight in the stomach and hips post-partum. While Michelle is pretty polarizing, I think she does deserve credit for being strategic (and probably a bit opportunistic) with how she approaches the show's challenges. I remember when she won the Lord & Taylor spring design challenge in her season by making a yellow dress when everyone else made pink and red pieces.
  4. Thank you, stillshimpy! It's good to know that you haven't had many service problems, even with frequent use of your current elliptical and other past equipment you've had. In my case, I'm pretty picky about workout machines. I've tried a lot, and I've used this particular brand and model of elliptical I'm now looking to purchase for years, and I really enjoy the workout I get from it. It is a commercial grade machine designed for heavy use, but I do pretty intense workouts on it (I turn the resistance 90% of the way up and pump and fast as hard as I can). My options for purchasing a refurbished machine look something like this: 1. Cheapest option - ~$2K - a machine refurbished by a local fitness company with a 90 day warranty. This company is not a Precor-certified refurbisher - it would just be local (but still knowledgable) techs performing the refurbishing. They would do an in-house install (and lug the 500-pound machine up my steps, which I couldn't do!), and I could probably call them (or my local gym) for help with maintenance beyond the 90 days. The one bad thing: they don't have this particular elliptical in stock right now, and it could be weeks/months before they get one again (and I'm looking to have this machine purchased and installed before the end of 2014). 2. Next cheapest option - ~2.6K - a machine sold by a Precor-certified refurbishing company across the country from me. They would have an external shipping company ship it curbside. I'd have to find local people to help me bring it in my house and set it up. There's a 90-day warranty; after that, I'd be on my own for tech services. 3. Next cheapest option - $3.3K - a machine sold by a Precor-certified refurbishing company in the same state as me (but ~150 miles away). Same warranty. 4. Most expensive option - $4.5K - a machine sold by a non-Precor-certified company out in Cali. They claim to totally rebuild the machine, and the price would include all maintenance/service/parts for life. I talked to a salesman over the phone who was saying I would get 20-30 years of wear from this machine, and I struggled to hold back my laughter. This model I'm looking to buy is already 5+ years old, no longer sold new by Precor anymore (this is a 100 series; they're now selling the 800 series), and it lacks a touchscreen, built-in-monitor, iPod connectivity, etc. I imagine 20-30 years from now, workout machines will be a lot more tech-compatible and have a lot more biometric functionality. I'm looking to buy this model for my personal use for the next 5-7 years. Anyway, I'm leaning toward #1...my concerns are just that I don't know when they will have this machine back in stock, and I'm trying to gauge the likelihood of my having to put hundreds of dollars into repair work myself in the 5-7 years I plan to own and use this machine. I don't know how much of a difference it will make it if I purchase a machine that is refurbished by a smaller company vs. a Precor-certified company in the long-run. For what it's worth, the guy at my gym who is in charge of buying and selling fitness equipment told me that he sells this elliptical to refurbishing companies for up to $1.5K (whereas the brand new machine that's not sold anymore costs $10K), so all the rest of the money I'm paying is for labor/parts, tax, shipping, and installation. Most companies seem to have a ridiculous markup.
  5. Does anyone here own and routinely use home fitness equipment - treadmills, ellipticals, and other electronics? If so, how much maintenance/repair work have you had to invest in it? I'm shopping for a specific machine (a Precor elliptical, which I used at my gym daily for ~5 years until they recently got rid of it), and I'm trying to figure out how often I might need to have it serviced or repaired if I use it 30-60 minutes/day. I've been getting offers from about a half dozen companies for refurbished Precors, and the offers actually vary a lot in terms of price, depending on whether the retailer is Precor-certified and what kind of extensive maintenance they offer. I'd greatly appreciate any advice/tips.
  6. I kept waiting for Eddie to show up, like he was there all along spending time with Iris and overheard the conversation from another room. Really, who gives a friend of the gender-you're-interested-in a wedding ring as a Christmas present, if you're not their significant other or parent?
  7. Barry sucks at fighting, as evidenced by how he couldn't even land a single punch against Reverse Flash. I don't know who's more oblivious - Barry for not realizing everyone (except Iris) knew a long time ago that he was in love with Iris, or Iris for being unaware of this also. (Unless, playing devil's advocate - she has known, but pretends like she doesn't so she doesn't have to tell Barry she doesn't feel the same way.) Although, I'm surprised the "I love you" came before the Iris-finds-out-Barry-is-the-Flash realization. Guess we'll have to wait until January to see how Iris really feels. Meanwhile, Caitlin is quite codependent, isn't she?
  8. I only stayed up late enough to watch the first few sketches, including the Peter Pan Live parody. I wonder if NBC loaned them the set and costumes, since those seemed to be spot-on, and it probably would have cost a fair chunk of change to custom-make them themselves. But, I thought the sketch itself was pretty unfunny and lacked any insight or clever take on the source material. Tonkerbell and her weird fly boyfriend were completely irrelevant. Rather than have the cast member playing Peter Pan go on about how she was so feminine, why not have a female cast member who's more curvaceous wear an ill-fitting Peter Pan costume and play the role straight? James Franco's Hook was just a straight imitation of Walken's Hook - again, a missed opportunity to parody the character.
  9. I'm expecting a Peter Pan Live parody sketch, but I hope they leave Wiig out of it. Her Dooneese schtick is played out.
  10. Maybe the winner's prizes were edited to include private mentoring by Tyra, including special sessions getting to know her at home and getting to go out on the town with her to see her 'modeling in action' at restaurants, movie theaters, nightclubs, etc.
  11. If I recall correctly, in stage productions, the actor who plays Mr. Darling usually plays Captain Hook as well (since he's the misunderstood (?) 'bad guy' who antagonizes the children in both cases). I think it would have been better if they had gone this route here, and had Broadway vet Christian Borle play Hook instead of Smee. At least he wouldn't have phoned it in like Walken. But this production was doomed to be a snarkfest from the beginning, so it's not like it would have mattered much.
  12. Clearly, this casting must be social commentary on the boomerang generation and manchildren everywhere.
  13. Nice "10 years with Brian Williams" promo just now. SNL certainly has a lot of fodder for their inevitable parody this week.
  14. To look on the bright side, at least they didn't cast Lena Dunham in the role.
  15. I'm thinking "take a sip every time someone says 'croc' " would be a good entry in the drinking game for this evening. Anyone else have additions?
  16. Those biceps on Smee are hilarious. Is Captain Hook stoned?
  17. I wonder if they solicited Melissa Joan Hart to be in the Peter Pan Walmart commercials, or the other way around. If this live musical was 10 years ago, I feel like they probably would have picked MJH (or someone similar) to be Peter.
  18. They couldn't find clear wires? Or at least not black ones?
  19. It's comical how Peter sings one line in an attempt of an British accent, then forgets about accents and goes back to her normal singing voice.
  20. The dog's doing great so far! Can't say the same about the singing...
