Stassi's mom is a hot mess. I would have liked if James's mom was invited though to provide additional hot mess material. At least Stassi's brother has not been inflicted on us again as he was so often in earlier seasons. I am really surprised he hasn't shown up to fulfill one of the "nepotism busboy" positions in SUR. I think this happened last week not this week, but I have to say how much I love when Sandoval engages in deep conversations with castmates while decked out in costume with elaborate headpieces and creepy colored contact lenses. It happened last season with his Maleficent get up and it happened again at the Winter birthday party.

LOL when Schwartz demands that James repeat after him that Katie is luscious and sexy and James demurs. So apparently Teddi Mellencamps brother is a wannabe mactor and will be taking the Nepotism Busboy position previously held by Max, James, and Ariana's Creepy Brother? Maybe John Mellencamp will have a cameo appearance soon. I don't really like Katie but her ultimatum to Lisa was pretty brilliant. Remember what a dick Lisa's party planner Kevin was to Katie last season while Katie was working an event. It's not the 80s anymore Lisa, better get with the times. The beer cheese thing means we are going to have to see Memaw again on the show. Ugh. Kristen's haircut is cute. She looked gorgeous on the girls night out.

Melissa looked like a young girl impersonating 80s era Cyndi Lauper. Mirandas crying was kind of tragic. yiiiiikes Sasha Agent is was and ever shall be EXQUISITE. Marshall seemed to be wearing a kilt with giant safety pins while he was in the Highlander Stadium stands--so apropos. I loved his face when he told Erin was a bombshell. Just can't get enuff Marshall he is sunshine. Is it unheard of for a TCC to buy some Lucchese boots and practice in them beforehand? Are they prohibitively $$$? Just wondering because it seems it would be a bitch to dance in those for the first time on a sweltering night of camp in front if the CMT cameras. I cant quite believe they didn't pull the plug on Kristen. Her demeanor is just off putting and strange- all dancing / wow lack aside.

Agree 100% with the displaced emotions bit. The sternness that should be delivered to Victoria is redirected to Dayton who did not really show entitlement. She was late to makeovers and messed up dances yes but responded quite appropriately and contritely to criticism. I feel like Kelli was in a struggle because she adores Victoria and thought she would skate on by in TC (and clearly so did others like Kitty and Charlotte) and that's why Kelli seems jarred and conflicted for instance when Denise critiqued Victoria last week. So yeah it did seem unfairly harsh to lay the "somebody's daughter" thing on Dayton when she was cut. Who was shown introducing herself at auditions this year by saying she was there to continue her moms DCC legacy? Hint: not Dayton.

I was waiting for the Power of the Star to turn the folks in the senior home young again, kind of like the movie "Cocoon".

As enraged as one can get over a CMT show! The ridiculous soft peddling of VK in the office ('we don't want to spend more than 30 seconds on this...'). WTF? Kitty has pissed away ALL credibility. I was predicting she would completely dismiss VKs glaring flaws with "ah well just more of her to love!" But the 'give her the respect, been with your program since she was 10 years old' thing was even more awful than I could predict! Then the final blow of the heartbreaking cut scene of Dayton. I hope Kelli and Judy still feel like crap about it --because they should.

Wow I hate to say it --but Brandis girls come off so bratty. And they didn't seem very gentle around the baby. LeeAnn looked scary AF at the dinner with Rich. Makeup and hair set to harsh. I would love to see her with lighter hair like she had in her pageant days. I do like the gold Wonder Woman style tiara in her talking head. I was wondering if D'Andra is in a Tori Spelling type situation -- rich heiress ends up not so rich as one would think. The class backgrounds on this group are interesting, we've seen in past seasons Brandi and Stephanie are from modest backgrounds, and of course we all know the Ballad of Carny Kid LeeAnn. Kameron was clearly wealthy (Montecito...polo playing daddy) even before meeting the illustrious Westcotts and finally breeding some height into their line. I'd guess Carys background was a bit closer to Kams than to B and S.

Is there any tea on what is going on with Tamra's darling son Ryan? He is being featured a lot this season I suppose he needs the paycheck to support his baby mama? Looks like Tamras mom is collecting her fees as well this season. It's weird that we just had Ryan's daughter featured a lot last season and Grandra Tamra and now she is relegated off show with the rest of Tamras non Ryan spawn. It seems like Ryan appears in most of the scenes with Tamra and Eddie, no wonder Eddie is cursing out God this season.

Of course VK is going to be back next year. There is no pivot or backup plan there. There is no other dream. Just DCC. That CMT bonus clip is really something. The pressure at home to make Show Group line that Kelli says. I feel for VK because her mom must be so delusional in a next level way. You know that Judy and Shelly were not putting that kind of trip on Cassie or Dayton.

Re Victoria it is clear that certain people have VK Goggles on all the time, which makes them not see how jarringly OFF she is from what viewers of this show have been told for a decade plus is the DCC ideal. Goggles are sported by Kelli, Charlotte, and Kitty. The goggles are not worn by Scott the Meteorologist, Denise, or Judy. Thinking of how Kelli has lectured over the years about how a DCC should have 'soft glamour' and a toned mid section blah blah and how girls with smiles half as gummy as VK were booted for it. I want to see what made the goggles finally fall off it has to be epic.....

In the preview for next week who is the vet who falls down in the studio and K and J gasp?

I rewinded to watch Judys quick smirk of disbelief when VK said she really wanted show group. Remember Highlights magazine and Goofus and Gallant? Gallant says wow I am in disbelief that I made show group as a rookie TCC. Goofus whines and pouts about not making show group and throws her messy looking hair extensions around in a tantrum like fashion. Really cannot wait to see how VK gets cut from training camp. As Kenny Banya said on Seinfeld-- this is Gold, Jerry! Gold!

Yep to all this. Vic has some BALLZ I'll say that much! She really wanted show group you guys! And to be group leader and point too. And a pony Aunti Kelli you promised me a pony if I danced pretty! Whats with Victoria dancing while wearing her big Apple Watch. That looked strange. Lindsay looked PISSED off. They could have cut a few other strugglers before her. I wonder if she'll try out again. I love the sinister sound effect they play for the "oh shit" moments-- "Lindsay doesn't change her expression" [insert harrowing sound effect here].

I think they skipped last week due to Labor Day holiday cant wait to see Kelly call Shane a little bitch! Richly deserved and from the preview coolly rational attorney Emily reacts by threatening to kill Kelly. lol

Interesting regarding the editing of the episodes and that the first two were edited before VK cut. To me Kelli just seems exasperated with Dayton. Starting with prelims and then in finals when K was watching girls on the big screen she said something like 'I can't watch her' re D. Same mild to moderate exasperation in the late for makeovers, office, and uniform fitting ("you won something" ) scenes. Is it me or does Judy seem really quiet this season. Either like the V and D legacy stuff brought back stressful Cassie memories or she's just over it.

It seems sometimes they bring her in later on TC when the cut decisions get more 'difficult' Was Tara on Show Group last season? Was Savannah? I guess we got clued this week that TCC Lindsays upcoming cut was prob for bad kicks?

I was kind of excited for the Jay power squad segment because I get nostalgic about it in the early seasons when they would film outside at Valley Ranch. But this year it just felt OFF -the weird expression Jay had when he marched in and the super awkward scolding (WTH? Trainer Cade even looked startled). Way to go Victoria for trying to jolly Jay up. I did like the nutritionist Alyssa part. Brennan's "I don't eat when I'm stressed" seemed the DCC equivalent of answering the job interview question "What's your biggest weakness" by saying "I'm a perfectionist". I see why Jasmine got cut but it felt abrupt. UCLA scene -so cheesy and total 'we empower women so don't sue us' crap from Charlotte IMO. That giant pic of Madeline M in the studio looks weird close up. Her neck looks dislocated. shiver

I'm intrigued by this Slade dude... Is he the male model who posed with Tasha on the book covers? bc the guy they showed her with at home an episode or so ago was no Fabio

So one of the earlyish cuts is TCC Lindsay-- was there ever any inside scoop on why she was cut? I haven't noticed any critiques of her in the episodes so far...so surprised she is cut before Kristin and Taylor T. In the makeover episode I think Kelli was chatting with her about how she's becoming a nurse? The inclusion of that bit made me wonder if she dropped out of TC.

I'll agree to disagree- getting a brand new car gifted as a teen (referring to above post re VK) is a big deal -IMO. Not that one should say no to it of course or feel guilt at all -but that is NOT the same as minimizing that it is a big deal and a great gift to get.
