The Talk in the Media: Letting Other People Talk for a Change
catlover79 replied to Primetimer's topic in The Talk
Doesn't the new season start next week? Honestly, CBS, just pull the plug already. Actually, Elaine didn't even last one full season. The 2020-21 season began on September 8th. Elaine and Amanda didn't join until January 4th. (I believe Eve's farewell show in December was the last before the annual holiday break.) What a mess. The halcyon years are far behind them. I honestly don't know how they are still going. -
Carrie Ann Inaba: And the Winner Is . . .
catlover79 replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in The Talk
Agreed. Julie really was the glue. Coming from a news background, she really was the best in the group at moderating (though her replacement, Carrie Ann, became very good at it). It seemed that once she left, it was all downhill. -
Same here. The Indians' starting staff was decimated by injuries early on this season. Still, I don’t think the Indians regret their decision to trade him back in 2019. He came with so much baggage, even then.

Carrie Ann Inaba: And the Winner Is . . .

I miss Aisha and her special blend of beauty, intelligence and humor. Of course, another one who didn't get a farewell show for obvious reasons is Julie. I wonder if she misses the show and wishes she had done certain things differently. -

Carrie Ann Inaba: And the Winner Is . . .
catlover79 replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in The Talk
Yeah, but neither did Marie (and for obvious reasons, Sharon). Eve wasn't even in the country for her farewell show (and only Sharon and Sheryl were there, due to Carrie Ann being hospitalized with COVID-19!!). I think the last host to have a "real" farewell show was Sara - and it was all downhill from there. -

It is sad, especially because her first couple of years on the show were so great. One of the greatest parts about it was her bond with Sheryl, which really seemed to have gone sour for some reason. Everyone rags on her for her incessant crying, but I appreciated that she was so forthright as someone suffering from autoimmune disease and a sexual abuse survivor. I'm glad she was able to make her voice heard. I wish her all the best. -
The Talk in the Media: Letting Other People Talk for a Change

Well, I don't think any of us didn't see this announcement coming. It's a shame, really. We've had cast changes every year since 2017. Just since September 2020, we've seen four hosts leave (Marie, Eve, Sharon and Carrie Ann). Really, CBS, is it worth it anymore? I love that show!! They've been co-ed since their inception (2017). Ironically, they air directly opposite The Talk here in Cleveland. -
Retro TV Channels: ”The Good Old Days of Television”
catlover79 replied to Actionmage's topic in Network Talk
FETV is finally shaking up their lineup a bit. TJ Hooker will be removed (I think I watched the complete cycle at least five times!), and so will I Dream of Jeannie, Hart to Hart, One Day at a Time, and Designing Women. Starting next week, The Patty Duke Show. The week of 8/30 will see Mannix, Leave it to Beaver and The Beverly Hillbillies be added. However, Perry Mason and Matlock are both still airing four times a day. -
Can you imagine Walter Cronkite, David Brinkley or Ted Koppel doing that? 🤮

That shtick got old a long, long time ago. It is unprofessional. As I've said before, he just comes across as a middle-aged guy trying desperately to prove that he's hip. Guess what, Ari - you're not.

Yeah, I feel the same way as you and @emmawoodhouse. I wanted to cool down a bit before commenting. This summer has seen the release of Bill Cosby from prison on a technicality, and now this. There is no justice, especially for female victims. It sucks!!! 😡😡😡😡😡

LSSC: Season Six Episode Talk
catlover79 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Late Show With Stephen Colbert
I was thinking about ordering the "tour" outfit and am glad it is high quality. Thanks for sharing. Didn't Stephen go from the bubble bath to the fire pit to the living room before going back to the Ed Sullivan Building? I seem to recall he and Evie talk about having a satellite truck in their front yard at one point. -

Exactly. He's taken that comfort from the converted storage closet to the Ed Sullivan Theatre. -

I liked the empathy discussion, too. I'm with you and the Californians polled about blaming a lot of the unvaccinated, but Stephen and Dr. LaPook made me think some more. Stephen's whole monologue last night was excellent - especially about the care we came to feel for these people. Great job all around. ❤ -

The Talk in the Media: Letting Other People Talk for a Change

The moves they have made (read: JERRY) just scream desperation. I honestly don't see them making it past Christmas if the ratings don't improve. -

No one has officially confirmed or denied that Carrie Ann is out, have they? (Though the longer she's gone, it seems less likely she'll be back.) Honestly, CBS should rename the show now that they have added at least one guy officially. Shake up the format a bit more, redo the set, but it is not The Talk. Not anymore. I know this sounds stupid, but officially adding men to the panel felt like a betrayal to me. It was always a show for women presented by women. I began watching during the halcyon Julie/Sara/Sharon/Aisha/Sheryl era in 2016. I still miss the segments they'd have about women's issues, and that continued when Eve, Marie and especially Carrie Ann joined. You can't have five ladies around the table anymore (and the preemptions and logistics due to COVID-19 played no small part in reducing the show to what it is today). It's just not the same, and at least to me, it's a betrayal. -

I like it, too. A couple of years ago, I had a seat down the left field line at an Indians game. That's foul ball central, especially since they hadn't put netting up yet. Anyway, some guy caught a foul that a nearby kid was trying to get. He got soundly booed for not giving it to the kid. So giving a foul ball to a kid is not only a good way to be nice, but to keep fans off your case. 😊

Who, What, When, Where?!: Miscellaneous Celebrity News 2.0

True. Still, Madonna should have done more films where she was part of an ensemble. She was fine when she wasn't the star and didn't have to do the heavy lifting. -
Isn't that the way it always goes? 😡🤬

I was just coming here to post that. I hope these new revelations give prosecutors what they need to put him away, MLB and the Dodgers to cut him loose, and for other players to think twice before they mistreat a woman. In any case, I don't think he will be pitching again this year.
