Would love to think of the kidults staying at home and throwing a massive party.

Odd question but can anyone recommend a good unscented or mildly scented hand lotion? I've got alligator hands all of a sudden and nothing seems to be lasting. DD and I stopped at a boutique-y holiday shop on the way home from yet another college tour and I used a sample. Blarghhhh! Nasty perfumey and actually made hands worse.

The noggin helmets are too big to hide under that hat, based on the little ones I've seen with the melon shapers. I thought she was using a baby wrap perhaps, then looked closer. Those poor babies.

Oh-oh, could it be code? Sugar and spice and everything nice? That's what little girls are made of. Isnt that and old poem? Have they just telegraphed an impending daughter?

We all seem to be in that "sandwich" position, with aging parents and young/young-adult children. DH is dropping stepdaughter and her kids back at her residence after a five hour visit here. She's been sober eight months and I'm guardedly optimistic. Lots of guilt for not allowing them to move in here, but at the same time, none at all.

Aw, Mag. Full frontal hugs. I was raised Catholic, twelve years of Catholic schooling, left after divorcing due to hypocrisy. Old habits die hard, and I went to a Christian bookstore for a St Joseph statue to bury hoping to hasten sale of my parents' property. In no way do I believe this to have any merit. Anyway, the proprietor of this store dismissed me as though I'd pooped on his floor by asking for the item. Take control of your marital situation. Three years in limbo is ridiculous. Dictate your future vs. letting it happen to you. ❤️

I office from home two days a week. The dog and cat come in and pester for treats, and I do shut my door after 2:30 when DS gets off the school bus. (He's 14, we visit a bit, but I need to work-work).

Going to sleep in and cook a small turkey at leisure tomorrow. Declined watching stepdaughter's kids. Going to lay around and read. Dinner with my side was great fun. Dessert with DH's side was an exercise in crazymaking. It has been twenty-two years and I am still uncertain if MIL is more mentally ill or a colossal bitch. Likely a combo of the two. Boundaries have been reinforced.

I'm glad the sale closed. The rest is heart wrenching. Loving and nurturing our parents as the age and decline and dealing with the practical/legal/logistical is something that is utterly gutting. I hope you have some semblance of peace and joy today.

Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels to all! My sister is hosting this year, as we covered Christmas last year. With five sibs, I'm out of the rotation until around Easter! I'm prepping a few sides and pies and am very much looking forward to seeing my sisters, brother, mom, nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Should be a crowd of about 30. This is the third year with my dad gone. My oldest brother estranged himself about the time dad died when his douche-baggery became inexcusable. It is wonderful to have ego-free, peaceful gatherings. We'll meet up with DH's side later in the day. We've set boundaries with MIL over the years for self preservation. We've not seen her since last February, so we shall see what sort of adventure awaits. I'm beyond thrilled to have four days off.

Nursing is not an easy program. Jill would likely not have been able to get into the program without remedial classes. Speaking of Oprah, (were we?), she's stayed as far away from this train wreck family as possible. -
We had virtual olympics between two offices. The Minneapolis office called it Bags. Louisville called it Cornhole.

? ?Lots of local microbreweries have this set up. Fun stuff and normal.

Omg- this was on the "Ah the life" blog entitled "Bringing home Rebecca." Oddly, it has been removed. Her headship is serving time in federal prison for international arms sale and she/they are grifting so she can remain home. Pictures are in the Way Back Machine which isn't allowing me to link from my tablet. Get googling ladies, this is a gem. -

I think so, Sew Sumi! If I recall, they were pretty backwoodsy. -

I've been searching for a video link of a fundy family that "brought their daughter home" from her workplace, as her hapless spouse finally made enough to support the family without her bookkeeping job. It was posted on a parenting forum that enjoyed fundy bashing. ? The poor young thing looked mortified and her coworkers were floored. Her mom, dad, spouse and brothers essentially burst into this small office (think Dunder-Mifflin) and told her boss she was leaving. It was bizarre. You'd appreciate it! -
Sounds wonderful, Nat-Nat! (Sorry, Natalie is my daughter's name, with Nat-Nat being one of her many nicknames. Be happy I didn't call you Gnatty-bugs!) I've reached the Sunday night slide, where I realize the four hours I intended to log in over the weekend didn't happen. I *should* at least knock out an expense report but just can't gather up enough f*cks to do so. It is a short week ahead, with my boss off all week. I'm ready for hibernation.

Woot woot Arwen!

Yep. It's a charity, young model types get a gig to add to their portfolio and there are shirts and bags as well.

Hey now! ?

This is a local company started by a college kid about five years ago. A (young) coworker has modeled for some of their shoots, getting laid in gear. Errr...paid. She gets PAID in gear, although one of the founders did, uh, offer his services.

If JB Is unhappy, I'm happy. Agreed. Everyone must pay their dues. However, $31,200 in Arkansas is pretty solidly middle class I believe. The cost of living is pretty low,
