The most overrated Supernatural episode ever (for me at least) is Nightshifter. It’s a generic hostage episode and passable at best!

If Cas does yell at Dean over Jack I’m hoping once Dean explains his point of view Cas will show some understanding. Slim chance, but if anyone would allow that it’s Yockey. I’m thinking of something like his episode Lily Sunders Has Some Regrets where they spent most of the episode bickering, but when they did sit down and talk both Cas and Dean were able to respect the others position. They may not have agreed, but they were able to respect it.

Agreed! I’m not denying that back door politics happens on shows, but IMO SN is a very different beast. On a normal ensemble show the show could probably survive a lead character being written off, but Supernatural is heavily dependent on both Jared/Sam and Jensen/Dean. If either of them quit the show wouldn’t survive for longer than a flop of a season (if the CW were stupid enough to try and renew it sans Jensen). The only remotely feasible option is Dabb is trying to lead the show to its death, but even that’s silly; if he doesn’t like the show anymore all he has to do is quit just like Kripke, Carver, Gamble and a number of other writers have done over the years.

I mostly agree with all of this, but the bit in bold comes off as a little dismissive to me. I’m fairly certain @gonzosgirrl isn’t a Destiel shipper, and therefore doesn’t view things through the lens of “Dean just lost the love of his life”, but even if they were a shipper of Destiel they can view things their own way without it being made into a ship issue.

Honestly, I think Jack is in something of a no win situation. Firstly, I think any pushiness Jack may have displayed is a result of ignorance / emotional immaturity and his own insecurities. He wants to prove to Dean (and himself) that he isn’t the anti-Christ incarnate, and he lacks the maturity to realise forcing his presence on Dean isn’t going to help. However, as I said, I also think Jack is in something of a no win situation. If Jack were to display emotional maturity and try to do right by Dean through saying something like “I’m going to leave because I can tell my presence here causes you pain and I want to back off and respect your need for distance from me” Dean would be the first one to protest him leaving IMO. Well perhaps he’d be more accepting of the idea now Jack seems to have begun winning his trust, but I definitely think Dean would be the most vocal about Jack staying with them if he went to leave the bunker.

I'm really hoping since Cas is out of the empty his reunion with the boys will take place this week and it is only his reunion with Jack pushed back to episode 6! Yockey is my favourite of the new writers and I would love to see his take on a Dean / Sam / Cas reunion :)

These Spoilers Suck: Bitter Speculation About SPN Spoilers
Wayward Son replied to catrox14's topic in Supernatural
This Is actually true of both brothers. Kevin recognised that the demons working for Crowley weren’t Sam and Dean because they were far too nice and civil to be the brothers ;) -
Finals are in! Shame we didn't adjust up, but at least we didn't adjust down :) There was a slight tick up in the viewers from 1.819 to 1.824 too.

These Spoilers Suck: Bitter Speculation About SPN Spoilers

I have no clue about an inverse explanation, but honestly I imagine the writing room was like Dabb: "Oh shit we don't want to use up all of Alexander/Jack's 13 episodes this early in the season... We need him written out of your episode Steve" Yockey: "But Andrew Sam just insisted Jack needs to come with them in Meredith's episode...." Dabb: "I don't care... We need him for later in the season just write him out!" -
I’m actually glad that there was no discussion. She had just proven she would rather die herself than cause harm to someone else. I’d have been beyond disgusted with the brother who suggested killing someone like that.

Anyone who has read my posts in bitch vs jerk knows I'm not a Dean fan, so based on posts here, I honestly went into this episode expecting to be infuriated by his behaviour. However, I feel pretty much the same way as I felt throughout episodes 1-3 namely that Jack thus far hasn't deserved the harsh treatment he's been receiving from Dean. Thus far, he has been an innocent who did not ask to be conceived and brought into this world. On the other hand, lashing out when one is grieving is a pretty normal and human thing to do and I can understand why Dean is behaving the way he is. He's angry at the loss of his mother and blames Jack for behaviour he rightly or wrongly* perceives as manipulating Cas to his death. So in a way yes it could be argued he was acting like a "dick" for taking his grief out on Jack, but on the other hand he's human and while I'll be the first to call Dean out when I think he's gone over the line I don't think he's done so here. I honestly wish the apology had been a more balanced one. I think they could have kept in Dean apologising for lashing out at Jack and Sam, but I also think Sam should have offered apologies of his own. He should have apologized to Dean for not respecting his feelings and constantly forcing Jack's presence on him. I think it's too early yet for Sam to realise he's wrong about Dean/Mary, but I do hope he comes to realise he's wrong about that in future episodes. In regards to Sam's words in the therapy meeting I agree with those who said Dean has not been portrayed as having a deep relationship with Mary. However, I'm going to put that down to Sam having an incorrect perception of things rather than its a message the writers are trying to tell us through Sam. I wasn't a fan of the Misha in the empty scenes, sorry Misha! The actual writing was meh at best, Misha's acting was passable but far from his best and the accent was just atrocious. As a poster said above, I can't remember who sorry, was he going for some sort of cheap Alastair rip off? Speculation with no spoilers but spoiler tagging to be safe

The unrounded ratings for Supernatural and Arrow are: Supernatural ........................... 0.631 ... (0.628 ... 0.633) Arrow ...................................... 0.478 ... (0.517 ... 0.438) Based on these I'd say there is very little chance of our show adjusting down, it actually has a good chance of adjusting up, while Arrow may adjust down or at best barely cling on to that 0.5

I think he has stayed in Sam’s room while the brothers have been out on a hunt (Sam’s room has Netflix haha), but he has stayed in room 15 when all three of them are there. Others can correct me if I’m remembering wrong though :)

I think Mary’s room is actually a general guest room they give to people. Castiel has also stayed in it a few times IIRC. Although I agree they probably gave Jack a room close to Sam so Sam could keep an eye on him and to keep him away from Dean due to Dean’s negative feelings towards him.

I actually agree with you that the death of Cas is not Jack’s fault as Jack made his own choice. However, I think it is understandable that Dean doesn’t see it that way. Jack wasn’t simply a passive presence throughout these events. In Dean’s mind he manipulated Cas by sending him visions of paradise and instilling a need for Jack to be born so this vision could come to pass. So, I think he knows Lucifer did the actual killing, but he blames Jack’s manipulation for Cas being there that day in the first place. As I said, I don’t see it that way! I suspect we may even find out those visions actually came from Lucifer! I’m just trying to explain where I think Dean is coming from.

I’d have honestly thought SN would get paid more considering how consistent it’s been over the years.

Riverdale got a 0.6 last night so hopefully our rating tonight will be steady also :)

I found the pacing of this one uneven and it ranged from boring to mildly interesting. I mostly enjoyed the Winchester side of things. Listening to Del whine about not getting to be bad was amusing when it could have easily crossed the border to boring - so Kudos to Beren’s for that. It was nice to see Mama Tran again and I loved the end scene with Kevin. It’s a shame Sam wasn’t ready to listen to him, but it would have been unrealistic for a small speech from Kevin to magically wipe away the tension between the brothers. Unfortunately, this is one of those episodes where, despite loving Cas, I found the Castiel side of things utterly boring. The actor playing Bartholomew lacks the charisma of say Gabriel and Balthazar. And I didn’t really get the Cas stuff... So one second he’s gone all pacifist then he’s killing Bart and becoming a leader. I must have missed something because I feel like Beren’s wanted to take us on a journey with Cas, but I don’t get how he got from A to B *shrug* .
