You’d have to be living under a rock to not know Wicked is a musical. And DG is in the rrailer.

I also would agree that someone would have to be living under a rock not to know Wicked was a musical, or to think that a movie set in the Wizard of Oz universe, which is primarily known for the iconic 1939 musical might have music, but people surprise me every day with not knowing something I consider common knowledge and I know there are a lot of blanks in my pop culture knowledge so who knows.

I read the comments section for the trailer on YouTube and you would be amazed at the number of people who have absolutely no idea the musical Wicked exists. I was really surprised because I thought even if people hadn't seen it, they would at least be vaguely aware of it as something that exists.

Mary tends to approach things in the wrong way, but in this instance, her heart was in the right place for wanting to be with her family.  Drunk Mary is pretty funny though.

I always thought drunk Sheldon on TBBT was funny, so it makes sense to me that drunk Mary would be funny as well.

I was actually shocked that Missy knew how to cook!  I don't recall ever seeing her cook or bake anything, so good for her for figuring it out!

To be fair, she was not doing a super complicated elaborate multi-course meal. Pasta is pretty easy to make. If she can read the directions on the box and knows how to work the burners, she can probably make pasta.

I was thinking that Missy has always been "the practical one" while Sheldon was "the smart one", so she's been practicing for this all her life.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but it makes sense and is an accurate assessment.

I'll be very disappointed if Missy doesn't get her own show.

Seriously! I would much rather have Young Missy than the spin-off they are actually doing with Georgie and Mandy.

I do like Missy taking charge and doing what needs to be done. I wonder how long it will last. Probably until Mary gets home.

Todd's new apartment is stereotypically crappy with a huge neon sign right outside his window.

It is, but I also love how proud he is of it.

Half hour shows are usually labeled as comedies and hour long shows are usually labeled as dramas. So Help Me Todd and shows similar to it are why the category light drama exist.

Glad the show is back but this episode seemed a little too frantic with too many plots going on.

My guess is that was a function of it being the start of the season and they had multiple things they needed to set up, but I'm pretty sure this was a one time thing. I think now that all the viewers know what is happening/going on with each of the characters, they can settle down for the remaining episodes.

I am looking forward to the rest of the season. I can't wait to see which perks at the upper level are cut. There is no way Margaret is going to fire junior people while the senior partners get luxury perks (and I realize I am absolutely applying TV Land logic, not real world logic to the situation).

  5. I liked getting to see both of them go undercover. I also liked learning more about Ellis's brother. Since this show is case of the week (which is one of the reasons I enjoy it), I doubt that we will ever see the murder of Ellis's brother solved, but I have seen USA shows where there's case of the week and a season-long story arc, so it's possible.

  6. I am really looking forward to Inside Out 2.

Moana 2 could go either way. I'd need to know more about the movie.

I would much rather have another season of the Zootopia TV series than a movie sequel. I thought the movie was okay, but I loved the TV series.

Frozen 3 has potential. I could see the people of Arendelle and the people of Northuldra needing to team up for some reason.

Toy Story 5 can work but it would need to be set between Toy Story 3 and Toy Story 4. I want Adventures in Bonnie's Room. The way Toy Story 4 ended, it really does not work well for a sequel, unless the 5th movie is Woody realizing he made a horrible mistake and trying to fix it.

I'd sign onto a spinoff/continuation of the Missy and Georgie story

Same here. Call it Young Coopers and it would totally work. The show doesn't need Sheldon. I can't tell you exactly when it happened, but at some point Sheldon became the least interesting character on the show for me. It works incredibly well as an ensemble show. I wish CBS would keep that going.

  8. I thought the ice-age was the horrible thing/the big event they are trying to prevent due to the supernatural evil they are dealing with. The ice age is not a natural thing that is occurring, but a horrible consequence of what will happen if the supernatural is not stopped in time.

Also, the characters are experts in the paranormal not climate or the natural world.

You would think even if James is foolish enough to become cannon fodder that the military command would realize that young men like James are doing essential war work at home.

This is a valid point. I cannot remember the exact terminology that has been used on the show, but it was something close to "reserved occupation" or "exempted occupation." Based on dialogue from the episodes, it seems people in those occupations could not be drafted. I can understand @magdalene's logic here. If his work is deemed important enough to the national interest not to draft him, than it would make sense that someone would have/should have checked against a list and realized he should not be called up due to his occupation.

I think the season overall has suffered a bit without Tristan, I don't know how it will do now without James, and is Mrs. Hall actually going to leave as well? Maybe this is the last season.

If I were running the show, I would have James leaving for the war as the season finale, and then pick up a few years later when everyone is home or introduce new characters. I would pretty much completely skip the war years, which you can do because the show doesn't have children at the center. The actor playing Jennie can probably be dressed/styled differently to make her appear a few years older if they needed to.

I did not get to post this last week because the boards were down. My guess is Carmody is in the Dales to do his part for the war effort, but does not plan on making that his full time home or where he will spend his career as a practicing Vet.

When Tristan comes back, he will try to pick up where he left off, and Carmody will go elsewhere. I think Carmody would probably be happiest in a research position, as opposed to directly interacting with patients and their owners/people. Tristan and Carmody will not be competing once the war is over and done.

The dogs rallying around Helen I thought was because she was sad, not because she was pregnant. Do dogs really go nuts over pregnancies? I have not seen that, but I haven't been pregnant (nor had a dog since I was a child), either.

I have no idea but it seems plausible. Dogs can sense bio-chemical reactions in the human body. It's why dogs can be trained to let an owner know when blood sugar is low, or other medical conditions. Since there are hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy, it makes sense.

I'm not sure even a country vet would be called upon to treat a turtle. Or a bird (we've seen people in the waiting area with bird cages before). I'm sure they are well versed in animal husbandry - farm animals and cats and dogs. But turtles? Unlikely.

My understanding is that the practice covers everything. They will treat livestock and the dogs that help herd the livestock. They will also treat any kind of pet.

Since the previous thread was closed and the one person who responded repeated what I already knew, I'll ask again. When the show came back after the writers strike, did Dulce every get to finish out her week that was cut short by the strike? I hope that short time gets taken into account here and they make sure her and the other correspondents who didn't get their week get more time.

No. Dulce did not get to host for a full week; she did not get to do three more episodes after her first episode hosting.

Most likely because it will be produced continuously (without a long hiatus) and if they were to call it two shortened seasons there are cast or crew who would need new contracts. There are only two reasons television networks do anything - money or ego. And since it would sound more impressive to have another season it must be about the money.

I think you pretty much have it. I think most questions about why television networks do what they do can be answered by one or a combination of the following: ratings, money, sponsors.

  14. If this is the show, I'll stick with it. I went in expecting something more like White Collar (cons and someone going undercover to catch the bad guys), but it turned out to be more like Castle (someone with a different perspective and seemingly off the wall theories working with the police).

It's fluff, but good quality fluff. I also appreciate that it isn't "will they or won't they." It's a nice change of pace for this kind of series.

Did they not make an offer to the guests or just couldn't get anyone to take an offer?

I have no inside information, but it's possible offers were made and negotiations fells apart/never went anywhere.

I stopped being able to find the show in Canada in the fall so I lost track of the hosts but did Dulce ever get a chance to finish her week? I was really impressed with her.

Dulce's week was cut short. She hosted on Monday and the writers' strike started Tuesday/the next day.

Out of the guest hosts, I liked Kai Penn the most.

Me too. I was rooting for Kal Penn to take over, because he seemed like the only one asked back for a second week that didn't already have a full schedule with stand-up comedy tours or other engagements/long-term projects.

I haven’t seen this yet, but I am disappointed they cut “Stop” because that was my favorite song in the stage musical, and it definitely helped it retain the edge that this movie apparently was lacking. I mean, the photos about Karen getting tricked into sending into a guy when she was only thirteen was horrible, but her line “Maybe we should be teaching boys not to do that in the first place” got the biggest cheer out of the audience when I saw the touring production.

I have not seen this yet and I am disappointed they cut “Stop” for a different reason. I understand the first movie came out in 2004 and they were aiming for  PG-13, but I was always upset/disappointed that while Damian was gay, there no hint of a romantic life. I wasn't expecting a hardcore sex scene with him, but they could have had an off-screen character that was a crush or an ex-boyfriend who has at least mentioned once and keep the PG-13 rating. Damien's mention of his summer crush in "Stop" satisfied that need. To me, it fixed a major problem I had with the 2004 movie.
