This season feels like the grand finale of a fireworks show when you see a whole bunch of fireworks going up and you know it's because they want to use everything up before the end of the show. I can't believe the show has already run out of ideas.

Yes! Exactly. I think the first season would be early in Sister Monica Joan's career. WWII would be the final season of the Midwives: Origins series. WWII takes you pretty close to when the actual series started.

I thought it meant that Jamie has never messed up badly enough to need the bar. It's on a need to know basis, but he has not had a reason to need the bar. Jamie is almost too perfect (He is Frank's mini-me to some extent). Even Frank must have some kind of interesting past. He was walking a beat during the 1974 Watergate hearings. The department back then was incredibly corrupt. I want to know more about this part of Frank's backstory and it kills me a little that Henry gets all the "in my day" stories while Frank's past in the NYPD, especially his early years, is this big unknown.

I think the pregnancy pamphlet was just there for a laugh. Georgie is the one who keeps the family together and helps supports his family financially after George dies and Sheldon leaves home for school. I don't think Georgie could be that present for his family and provide money if he was already married with a family of his own to support, because Mary seems like the type who would force Georgie to marry the girl if he got a girlfriend pregnant.

Al is an interesting mix of the traditional and modern. I would say he has some of the best qualities of both. He is proud of Hassina for her accomplishments and supports her career. He believes in women having opportunites in the world beyond being a wife and mother. At the same time he has a very strong belief in respecting elders, sacrificing for family/putting family above the self, does not gamble and does not drink alcohol.

Yes! This is what I am picturing. As an episode, there would be some sort of storm (snow or rain) so everyone is staying in and it's a quiet night in terms of calls. There have to be nights with few calls. The nuns and older midwives like Phyllis are telling stories about the early years of their career. For the series version, which is a fantastic idea, there are significant time jumps between seasons so we get to see the characters at different stages in thier careers.

I would call Trixie the fashionable one. She cares about the latest styles and there is nothing wrong with that. Nancy, I could see her leaving midwifery. I'm not sure if it's what she wants and what she chose or something that was more or less forced on her by the nuns. I hope we get to see the other students and learn more about who they are as people.

It's 1966 in the show and turquoise was a popular color. He was only there until his new housing assignment was ready. It was a short term stay, not a long term stay. I want to see a flashback episode of all the nuns/midwives early in thier careers, especially to see what Sister Monica Joan was like when she was at her best. Michael's storyline was heartbreaking. I knew as soon I saw him in the hotel uniform he'd be mixed up in something, but I never expected gay prostitution. As other people have mentioned, the British law changed in 1967, and they were debating it in 1966. All of the characters we saw had incredibly modern attitudes. I'll believe Dr. Turner because he seems like he would be ahead of his time. The parents being so accepting didn't quite ring true.

I love bottle episodes (episodes that use only existing sets and minimal guest casts). I also love episodes confined in time and space (the episode happens over a day or a weekend). This episode was right up my alley. Leonard learned some really unhealthy coping mechanisms from watching Sidney all of those years. I was glad that Daniel was able to snap him out of it and remind him that others have suffered too and that he isn't alone. Will was a bit of jerk and a spoiled brat at age 18, but he isn't now and realized somewhere in his late teens/early twenties that he didn't like who he was becoming and took steps to change that. I think he deserves credit for that. Tamara was pure comic relief and we needed that in this episode. I wouldn't mind seeing more of Tamara, Will and Geordie together in small doses. They make quite the comedy team.

Clara overreacted to her daughter’s initial interest in Dr. Goldstein. At first, she wanted to study with him because he was the leader in his field doing cutting edge research. I do not understand why studying with him means that she could would never again be able to help large number of people. Maybe someone who knows more about doctors and medical training can explain what I am missing. I enjoyed the subplot with Brian and his suger hangover. I've been there and it's not fun (mine involved a chocolate fountain and too many marshmallows). Something interesting in this series is that Lahela is more isolated than her peers than Doogie was. In the original, I got the sense that Vinnie made a real effort to include Doogie. There were scenes of Doogie and Vinnie going on double-dates. I also remember scenes at parties. In this series it seems like Steph has her life at school, and her friendship with Lahela is separate from that. I don’t know if it’s a covid thing, or the production team decided that Disney standards do not allow party scenes (and by party scene I mean teens hanging out and dancing, maybe drinking soda/soft drinks).

My guess is that there is scholarship involved. Not a full scholarship, but at least some help from the school or another organization. This week, I think Jamie's story was hurt the most by having 4 storylines. He has amazing research/investigative skills. I would have like to see him using them instead of going right to Erin. It would have been great to see him doing a bit of "undercover" work. Mess his golden boy/boy scout image enough so that Danny is worred: "This isn't you," and then and at the end Danny being able to say "I knew you were up to something/that wasn't really who you are." When did the Powers That Be decide the only Baker gets a story is if she is a victim? She had a moment of awesome in "Manhattan Queens," and we haven't see anything like that since.

What I liked is that there is no way to make what happened sound cool and/or romantic to thier friends.

Until you posted this, I hadn't thought about seperating what kind father George is from what kind of husband he is, but they can be two seperate role. I'm not sure if George is a great husband, but he's a great father. He is always there for his kids and tries to help them in any way he can. Although he doesn't understand Sheldon, he is aware there are basic social skills he will need to survive and helps him develop them. He helped Missy learn to play baseball, and taught Georgie that hitting and abusing women is not okay.

Ariana seems less traditional (not the best word, but the one I'm going with) than Al and her father. As far as she is concerned, her brother is an adult, he can do what he pleases as long as it isn't illegal or hurting anyone. She loves him because he's her brother and for who he is, not the ideal person her father thinks he should be. Lizzie is a fun character, because she is a bit of wild child, but can also be the responsible adult, especially when it comes to the finances of the family contracting business.

Bull trying to deal with his PTSD alone is not going to end well. He's going to need professional help sooner or later.

This is helpful. I always thought it was when he was living away from home and back for an unexpected visit, because otherwise George would have known Sheldon might be home. Sheldon tends to keep a routine/schedule, so George would have a pretty good chance of knowing that Sheldon would be at the house at a certain time, especially if he was still living at home. However, if there was a change in plans (class was cancelled and Mee Maw or someone else picks him up and drops him off at the house) and he was home when George didn't expect him to be, that makes sense. This moment would make a great season 6 finale.

I agree. Something that that nuns and midwives share is thier desire to be midwives/medical professionals. The nuns selected an order that would put them in day to day contact with ordinary, regular people as opposed to cloistered in a convent away from the secular world.

I don't think they're going to kill him off. There are far too many interesting plotlines they can do if they bring him back alive. The story of a Black Vietnam Veteran seems like something worth exploring.

We are currently in season 5 and the twins are 12. The series has been renewed until season 7. Here is my theory based on pure speculation: The series (Young Sheldon) will end with season 7. Due to it being a long running series, there are contunuity issues in The Big Bang Theory. However, I predict that Young Sheldon will end before George dies. Young Sheldon will end with Sheldon leaving home/moving out to attend a school out of state. I am not sure if the origin of the three knocks will appear in Young Sheldon. Based on the way he descibed it, I always thought it happened after Sheldon was no longer living at home, but I could be wrong on this.

My guess is that Leonard realized the position he had put Will in-either Will would risk his career and reputation for something Leonard did, or Leonard would have to own up to his "mistake" and sacrifice himself for Will. I think knowing that he had the love and support of Mrs. C gave him strength to do what he felt he had to.

This sounds fantastic. I would totally watch this spin-off show.

There is no way Leonard's storyline ends well. Will's thinking is way ahead of his time. We're in 58 and the law isn't changed until 67. Geordie reminded me of an older brother in this episode. "If you had come to me sooner, we could have worked something out before mom and dad found out, but it's too late for that now." I would have liked to see Daniel coaching Leonard. I think it would have been comedy gold and horrible to watch at the same time. Clearly Daniel has been through questioning before and somehow came out okay. It seems Geordie's plan was to do a halfbaked job of the investigation. If the other officer wasn't so eager to score points and advance, it might have worked. I wonder if Geordie had been through this before (protecting other people for one reason or another). Leonard wasn't going to let anyone take the fall or get into any more trouble for what he did. He was willing to own up to it.

They were interesting a few seasons back when they felt like fun DVD special features that gave an actual behind the scenes look at the show or were a quick overview of a historical issue/topic (sorry if that makes anyone feel old) that was part of th episode. When it became random stuff that didn't really add anything, I started to get annoyed they were cutting parts of the episode for it. Same here. After reading @movingtargetgal's comment I said outloud, "and solve crimes or medical mysteries." I'd watch that spin-off. There's the christmas special. Maybe they need to do a summer special that's the adventures of Millicent and Phyllis on vacation. @MissLucas, I highly encourage you to write the idea as fan-fiction. If you have an idea that you want to see and you know the show probably isn't going to do it, write it yourself. That's how I got started writing fan-fiction. Also, episodes that I felt needed to be improved because I didn't like the way the series did it and thought I could do a better job. I've heard of low birth weight babies or premature babies in an incubator, but I don't understand why a larger than average healthy baby would be in an incubator. Could someone please explain this me?

There's a pretty big age difference between Danny and Jamie. As kids, Jamie looked up to Danny. He was always the super cool older brother. I could totally see Danny being part of the popular crowd (or at the cool crowd), while Jamie was never cool. Part of the issue is that Jamie is now grown up and is a mature, responsible adult, but still sees Danny as the super cool big kid older brother. When it comes to Danny, Jamie's opinion and view of him is still what it was when Jamie was a little kid.

Maybe I missed something. Do we know that Bruce was drafted? Is it possible that he is serving multiple tours? I agree with you that the odds of Bruce knowing he fathered a child with a Vietnamese woman and the mother finding him were slim.
