Who will play? Lets fill this jar. Using the first letter of your screen name, post something about Primetimer and/or the Counting On forum that you are grateful for.

I'll start. I'm grateful for all the GENEROUS support from all the posters.

I had no clue about that either. Good to know.

  3. I have an older neighbor who I touch base with at 9-10 am and 5pm every day. I also look to make sure the lights are on at night or I go over to check why not. As the Girl Scouts (or is it Boy Scouts?) say: “Be Prepared”

If you don’t have someone to make this check system with then I think this service is worth it’s weight “in case”.

  4. @Scarlett45 Welcome home, but I’m sorry you already have to deal with illness. I’m in awe of how much you do and handle, but I’m glad you are willing to enlist a bit of an extra support system. You are the glue that holds everything together.

Suggestions, please.  I'm making some food to drop off to friends with a new baby, and was all set to make a turkey chili - hearty for our cold weather, can be frozen and reheated for later.  She's not nursing, so I don't have to be mindful of spices, but then I remembered she has a tree nut allergy and I should double-check whether any spice might be a problem. Turns out, cumin should be avoided because it's often contaminated.  Cumin features heavily in all of my chili recipes (a tablespoon in the recipe I was planning to use), so it can't be omitted and the suggested substitutions don't really do it.

What can I make for them with the ground turkey I bought? I don't have eggs, so meatballs/meatloaf are no go.

    1) You could make a lasagna and substitute the turkey for the ground beef.

    2) Turkey Sloppy Joes

    3) Turkey lettuce wraps

    4) A Shepard’s pie using turkey instead of beef

    5) Turkey noodle casserole

    5) Spaghetti Bolognese (again with turkey instead of beef)

  6. All of you are so fortunate. My brother systematically went through, took what he wanted and then let all of my parents stuff go to where I do not know. I miss having some of the things he tossed. Like her grapefruit knife. Years later he did surprise me by gifting me a bowl that his wife had relegated to the attic. Don’t be sad for me. I have memories and the few things I wanted most. I’m not a greedy person. I just would have like to have the opportunity and some choice.

  7. I read James Patterson’s The Horsewoman. As a former equestrian I think he did a fair job of getting a lot of the facts about horse shows correct, adding a subplot or two that fit into his story, but the ending was hokey. Too down pat and unbelievable. I almost feel as he got to a certain number of pages and then explored the quickest way to tie it all up. I enjoyed it overall, but he lost me the last 100 or so pages.

Yesterday I read The Collective by Alison Gaylin. It’s about woman who avenge their children’s deaths by joining a group of similar ladies. I’m still not sure what I thought about it, other than it kept my interest with some chills. It also permeated my dreams and I’m still thinking about it this morning. It would make an interesting movie.

  8. I finally got to watch this and enjoyed it. I can see why it got a lot of Golden Globe awards as the Foreign Press is probably more understanding about the nudity and sexual nature of Bella’s character than American audiences and Oscar voters.

  9. I hope @Scarlett45 is having a blast on her trip. I wonder if she is going to recognize our thread and how so many forums have changed. I bet her dog Cosmo is missing her too. I is hearing about him.

I’m confused about so much that’s going on and changing in the forums. Right now I’m just grateful when I wake up and see that it’s still here.

  10. I accidentally ended up on this movie when I went to use my Netflix account. Literally that was my only option on my smart tv. I tried the back arrow, the return, the FF or reverse, and yet my only option was to watch the movie they chose or pause. I was not even able to turn off the telly with my remote! Have any of you ever had a high jacking of your screen? My only option was to unplug it.

I have tried very hard to do Discord to join in with a bunch of people I know, but for some reason that has never worked out well for me.

Alas, this is probably my last refuge to chat. I would miss all of you dearly if this site went down.

  12. @blackwing Pendergast has spent a lot of time studying with monks, and others teaching him mysterious arts in the Himalayas. I think he learned about being able to go into other times and places to gather information through practices of meditation.
