If foreign (say) cars cost more, well, domestic car makers will up their prices competitively. Same with sneakers. Air conditioners. If you are not super rich this is not going to go well. There may be some conservative points about whether we should be in in NATO and providing weapons that can be discussed, but the tariffs are kind of the awful idea of someone who feels sick if a neighborhood child gets a sandwich in his kitchen without paying. Especially s we are gutting our universities and schools and resource facilities, which are our meaningful exports.
