  1. She arguably had the weakest dish when she made the yogurt thing, so it could seem like they were holding onto her until she would have to do the final LCK's and not a ton of them. I also think that these things may be a far closer call (though I dont watch LCK), but as they are all high caliber chefs (even Emily) it seems like there wouldn't really be much difference between how tasty two dishes are. Or at least not a super clear winner. That doesn't mean that Tom C. is a dirty liar, it just means that he may have his own set of biases based on the situation. I certainly don't think Tom would let in a dish that was MARKEDLY worse if it was from a favored chef. but I don't know that there is always such a clear line. IMO, they overplayed their hand with the LCK thing. So, if Brooke wins, I'll always feel like its an asterisk win. Which is probably fine for her, since a lot of people won't share my feelings.
  2. I loved "I'm allergic to tequila, when I have it I break out.....I break out dancing"
  3. This. Even though I'm not a fan of Brooke, I don't think it would bother me if it wasn't all so obvious. Not only does she win it all, but she comes back from LCK to win it all! I mean, come on now. Anyways, here it to hoping that TC is doing a fake out and Sheldon takes the win! But as I said, I'm prepared to be disappointed.
  4. Just no. For the most part, I despise things like this and its the sort of thing that makes me sore with Kandi. Seriously girl, stop pushing your entire damn family on the world. If Riley has talent, let her get with a record label and get a deal and let them promote her album. The nepotism just gets on my nerves, have we ever seen Riley in any pursuit of a singing career? Or putting in any of the same work that a regular person off the street would have to do to get a singing career?
  5. I suspect most of the money came from his charity. Charities for large and well known causes always have big money donors. Rheumatoid Arthritis is a pretty well known condition, and so its very likely they have big money donors, from pharma companies to foundations to private donors. Many of those donors are going to make a large donation every year, at some point. So, it makes sense for them to make their donation for something like this, because not only does it get the charity public airtime, but, if the rules are still the same, the winner takes the entire pot of money. So, in essence, the donation is doubled.. If person A donates 50k to Matt's charity, and he ends up getting the entire pot of like almost a million dollars, their donation is almost doubled. And person A was going to donate the 50k during the year regardless. Versus BG's charity, which focused on a relatively small problem that probably doesn't affect a large number of people. He wouldn't really be able to go to his charity for the "deep pocket donors" because there aren't that many. It sounds like he mostly called his friends for donations, and still managed to raise an amount somewhere in the range of what Matt raised. I guess a fundraising task as the final task is always going to be inherently unfair, but it is kinda messed up that the person with the biggest charity ends up getting an advantage because their charity has "deep pocket donors."
  6. I was just saying this in another thread, but its hard to know who a fan favorite really is. Maybe 10% of viewers take to social media, or even vote for fan favorite. But it seems fairly obvious to me that they are pushing a "Brooke redemption" story, especially with her coming back from LCK. The same way Kristen did. I certainly hope that I'm proven wrong, because I think that is so eye-rollingly obvious and cheesy. But I'm prepared to be disappointed next Thursday.
  7. Wow, John with the "well, I don't want to lose because I'll let Katsuji down." Really? Oh and Richard Blais is looking old. Okay, I'm going to need to see receipts for the local that allegedly took time out of his day to thank John for basically not doing any work as a sign of "respect." Because that sounds like an outright, baldfaced lie. Also, I guess its strategy, but it seems wrong that Katsuji was basically the one who came up with the idea for, and executed the only thing that worked for John's dish....and John didn't give him a little credit. I get that John is fighting for his life here, but still.
  8. Ugh, Brooke is back. I guess the fix really is in. Sorry Sheldon, you're very likely a better chef, but apparently someone decided that Brooke really needs to win, because? I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but this really feels like a cheesy set up.
  9. Is Rita Ora really that famous? This show makes her sound like she deals with Beyonce or Kardashian level paparazzi, but I haven't really heard much about her before the show. I know she sang, but I've never heard a song. It was nice of Rita to admit that she is nervous about taking Tyra's spot....while doing all the Tyra things, including dumb challenges. How was, "get your picture taken on the street" a challenge. This show just brings out the desperation of fame to me. Oh well, at least they got to milk that twin drama instead of bringing back Giah. I don't much care for Courtney, but I fail to see what she is doing right now for everyone to hate her.
  10. Well, as we all know a superstar like him has to stay on the time sector scale of juviality at all times. :)
  11. Yeah, the government may as well just open up a T-Mobile kiosk at this point because cell phones are in every prison. At this point they just have to buy a cell phone with like 1,000 Ramen noodles or 750 Honey Bunz depending on the exchange rate, and thats not right.
  12. Am I the only one watching this mess? East meets west is a great concept. I think the married girl is going to end up going home. She is too nice, and the minute she gets in a real fight she is going to want to leave. Also, why are they all so mad at Sayyora? Here is a general rule....if you say it on national TV, its no longer a secret. This woman just told a national viewing audience that she is cheating on her husband and he doesn't know about it. I guess you shouldn't judge her for it or whatever....but it seems super fucked up to let your husband know that you're cheating on him on national TV. Either way though, it wasn't a secret, so who cares if she wants to carry it to the other side of the house? I also never understand girls that say "I keep it real, I'm not fake, I'm gonna tell a bitch how I feel!" and then they start complaining about something than what they are upset about. How is any of that real? This girl thinks you hate her because she put some Rice-A-Roni in the wrong drawer.
  13. I remember how terrible that hair was at the time. I don't even know how it happened. If she had even just pinned it back... I felt bad for her watching it now because I thought maybe she just really liked it. Her hair looked so much better a few weeks later when it was straightened. So, so much better. It is wildly unfair as none of the men were ever judged for their beer guts and balding heads. I was watching a documentary on the Susan Smith trial. The judge was interviewed and said specifically that he refused cameras in the courtroom based on the oj trial. By contrast the oj trial took 9 months, the Susan Smith trial....17 days.
  14. I love me some Lucy Worsley but I couldn't see it. But they are both pretty amusing and entertaining
  15. So, i was just thinking about that comment Marlo made to Kenya about how her mother. Simone Biles was also rejected by her mother. It said nothing about her, and it says nothing about anyone. It sucks that anyone would be made to feel like rejection from their parent as a youngster has any bearing on their worth, although sadly I think it's probably hard not to internalize that as a child.
  16. I'm probably in the minority, but Matt's comedy was corny as hell. I thought BGs performance was spectacularly better. He sang two original songs, and karma chameleon which is a huge classic. Versus Wilson Phillips doing one song and Matt doing some corny jokes. I didn't see ninjas so maybe that tipped the scales. Matt is a good guy, and it's fine, but I really thought BGs team was better
  17. I was dying at that, she looked like one of those horses jumping into a tank in Atlantic City circa 1922. Hats off to her for facing her fears, but that was hilarious.
  18. I think appaleate court decisions don't always give clear guidance. And the circumstances are always different to that you don't know exactly what in a situation the appaleate court may find to overturn and how important it will be. Factors may be the same, but every factual scenario is different. Do i think Ito did everything right? Absolutely not, but I think if you consider that he didn't want to get an overturned conviction in such a huge case it sort of makes better sense. The .CA supreme court is probably one of the more liberal in the land, especially in that area. And OJ had one of the foremost appellate attorneys on his team.
  19. So, i think Ito assumed the jury would convict and he didn't want to risk the conviction being overturned on appeal. I think this is why he gave the defense sooo much leeway. He assumed, like most people, that there was enough evidence to convict OJ a few times over. So he wanted to assure the conviction stuck.
  20. This is wayyy late (just watching bc this is on netflix) but iirc according to the juror featured in the OJ documentary they all agreed in the first paper poll and since they didn't know what else to do they talked about it a little and finished. I think the jury back and forth may have been added for drama... One of the surprising things I got from the documentary was that quite a few jurors did seem thoughtful and rational. I mean, we all know he did it. And I think their issue was that the defense was able to plant seeds of reasonable doubt with the shoddy evidence handling and Mark Fuhrman. Jump high, jump low it's hard to trust a guy who takes the 5th when you ask him if he planted evidence.
  21. @Chaos Theory -- it's the only reason I'm watching it. And I'm so glad, this is really riveting!
  22. And then to make it even more hilarious, she put a picture up of Nikki baby from lhh Hollywood. And all three of them have the same surgically enhanced face. Like that episode of twilight zone.
  23. Wasn't it John who kept talking about his mother during the Edna Lewis challenge? And his upbringing by the ocean when he recently did the crab dish? Honestly, if either of them had a smirk on their faces, it would give me a deep, deep dislike for them both. Because, even if you think its gameplay, you can't know that, and to think its ever okay to snark on someone's heritage or upbringing is a straight up asshole move to me. And both of them should realize the ugly optics of two white people laughing at the upbringing and heritage and struggles of two people of color. This show has a long history of what I perceive as people making stuff up stories to justify their dish. There was that guy who had like 10 stories about cooking 10 different things for his wife on their first date or something like that. If Sheldon and Shirley are passionate about their upbringing and can use that as inspiration, more power to them. If the two of them want a similar "advantage" then they should have thought about how to link their food to their upbringing too.
