  1. This is true, but previous contestants have gotten a bad rap, on nearly every reality show, for using immunity as an excuse to slack off. No one wants to be that chef. And it woukd be easy to take Padma's constant shade throwing as her thinking that that's what Jaime did the first time he had immunity. And then for his dish to have failed a second time would have, for him, added the this idea that there was an impression he was just using immunity as an excuse to not work as hard. And that's nowhere near the truth. So I wish padma would stop acting like it's some personal affront when she doesn't get a plate of food. It's a mistake, they all make them, and he didn't do it just because he had immunity.
  2. Casey's dish was the only one that made me throw up a little in my mouth. Just the description of unfresh raw scallops...that tasted fishy...and were raw. Blergh.
  3. this. I think there is a feeling that its ignoble to have immunity and then fuck up. Like you're using immunity to coast by. And Padma was kind enough to keep twisting the damn knife at every turn ("well I hope you can at least use your immunity well and serve me some food this time!") Like come on Padma, you didn't get food last time, he messed up, its been at least a day, get over it. He didn't forget a plate of food just to spite you. And I feel like Jaime didn't want to be that guy. However, he was that guy because he had immunity because he had to use crappy ingredients. Also, I'm not entirely sure if peanut butter/truffle satay chicken would be super delicious. And hats off to Jaime for not losing his shit when that grill was off. Under perfect conditions its a high stress situation, now the grill malfunction?
  4. Do you have any links for that information? I'd be interested to read it.
  5. That was an interesting read, thanks for posting. I wonder how far along the lawsuit is? I can't imagine how this gets anywhere. I guess I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, because this is such a silly move for him.
  6. I just think she is an asshole. But then again, to me, if a person's lack of a filter ends up hurting people and they stick to it because they want to "keep it real" or whatever they may still be an asshole. I might even go with "meh, she just doesn't know any better," but anytime she is called out for anything she does she immediately gets defensive and upset, and starts to finger point. If she just didn't know any better I would think she would just apologize and keep it moving. I do think its funny that she was upset with Sophie, because I think that has much more to do with Sophie possibly being closer to Caroline S. than Juliet is.
  7. Juliet remains the absolute worst. I just can't with her. Ever. She is a consummate victim and never wrong. I don't blame Marissa one bit for dropping her as a friend. Anytime someone mentions something Juliet did wrong, suddenly you're wrong for suggesting that she might be wrong. I fully believe Marissa when she says she really doesn't care about Caroline S. and why she is moving. The only one who seems to give a shit is Juliet. Her comments on suicide were just disgusting, and then she will sit around pouting like some victim. Let anyone have said even something remotely that offensive to her. Let someone call her out on her terrible behavior and she will lose her shit. And then she acts shocked and dismayed when people don't like her. Why would anyone like her? I really wish someone would call Caroline S. out on her "rules" when she claimed there would be no rules at all. I would simply refuse to show up for lunch or dinner, and when called out on it, I would remind her that this was supposed to be a weekend of no rules, and that rules remind me of my terrible childhood at an expensive boarding school, where I was routinely tortured with rules. But Caroline S. is smart enough to have all these broads in her pocket. She has neutralized Sophie, Marissa doesn't give a shit, Juliet is her lapdog, Caroline F. doesn't want to be bothered, and Juliet is too scared to face Caroline S. alone. Out of all of the women, if anyone is going to give Caroline SS. shit, it'll be Caroline F.
  8. As for Johnny and Kandi. What a load of BS. I notice he conveniently left out how many hours he actually worked for that $500 check. He just said he sometimes worked 80 hours a week. That doesn't mean it was what he worked THAT week. Its likely that if he had a side hustle, she let him work fewer hours to work on his own business. Also, if he didn't have health insurance or any benefits, I think he was either part time or an independent contractor. I think to be a part time employee you have to average less than 40 hours a week. I don't think you automatically become full time if you end up working over 39 hours one week. I wouldn't be surprised if this was something Kandi cooked up for a storyline, because no one would honestly be stupid enough to burn an ex-employer like that, especially one who is giving you business after she fired you. Like why now, way after she fired you? Just in time for a storyline that Kandi desperately needs because the OLG restaurant is a pretty bone dry story line.
  9. So, I have a different take on Kenya, and I'm just going to leave it here, hopefully with the idea that some people at least consider it, because I think its a pretty serious issue. I know you all hate her, and even though I love her, I can understand the hate for her, because until I liked her I didn't like her. Anyways, I think people let their hate of Kenya cloud the issue of her relationship with Matt. I do think he is abusive, and I don't particularly blame her for "provoking" him, because I don't think its an adequate excuse for violence, even if that is what she is doing. However, I'm not even entirely sure she is doing that. Kenya, from my understanding, has a history of dating abusive men. So I don't particularly think this is a storyline for her. I will say that women who have had a difficult childhood, especially one where they didn't have a strong relationship with their father, can end up picking the wrong men. They don't always have a strong relationship as a model, especially where there has been a chaotic childhood. Which is what it sounds like Kenya had. For those women, who don't really have a sense of self worth, the abuse and control may feel more like care. Like "why would a man want to have so much control over me if he didn't care about me?" And taken to extremes, this can turn to something ugly. It feels more like passion and less like the abuse that it is. Her "poking him" to me is her desire to just have someone around who she feels cares for her, because as beautiful as she is, as accomplished as she is, she may not feel she is worth anything more than a guy who is punching in her windows. Especially if he was "so caring" at first. I'm guessing she places a lot of the blame for his behavior on herself in spite of what she says. But I think its real. I think she was scared to have him around without the crew. And the way he spoke to her in that driveway had me 100% convinced that he is on the way to hitting her if he hasn't already. Also, those were blood droplets on her broken window. Maybe someone in production is really detail oriented, but it seems pretty real to me. Oh -- and on the subject of the ticket cancellation. Honestly, it sounds like Kenya asked Peter not to have Matt there. It would have been Peter who cancelled his flight, and it SHOULD HAVE been Peter who called to tell Matt and uninvited him. Its Peter's event, not Kenya's event, so I don't see how she could uninvite him. Once Peter told Kenya "okay," he should have cancelled the ticket and contacted Matt. I'm not even sure how Kenya would go about cancelling the ticket, unless she was the one who purchased it for him (I was under the impression it was Peter). And EVEN if she cancelled his ticket, that should have been his clue that she didn't want him there for whatever reason and he should have stayed away. Why did he show up to something that no one wanted him at? I'm sad because I honestly think that if he ended up killing her, half the viewing audience would end up blaming Kenya and claiming she is alive and this is all for a storyline. I'm sad to see so many people blaming her for the actions of a grown man, and its not particularly here. Its everywhere. These relationships aren't that easy to break off. I have a friend in what I consider to be an abusive relationship (not physically, but emotionally) and she really just cannot seem to break free. It sort of reminds me of that OJ documentary....I remember one older female juror saying something to the effect of "well, if Nicole stayed around and kept letting OJ beat her ass, she is to blame" (total paraphrase).
  10. You all are crazy! Yeah, I'm not sure who the hell is paying 10k for Peter Gunz, I'm guessing it was a setup to serve him with a subopena for family court. Because his one song was like 20 years ago. I also get tired of Tara and her "I have nothing to do with Peter anymore, I swear!" and in 2 months we'll find out she is birthing baby 11 while talking shit about how she is better than all other baby momma's because....something, something. I'm still rolling my eyes at 40 year old men in something called a "creep squad" grow the hell up and at least call it an LLC or something. I have no idea what these girls are competing for? The main stage, the pre stage, or the parking lot tailgate?
  11. I kept yelling "no, don't do it!" at the TV. I have both respect and anger for Jaime. I respect him for his thought process that if a person doesn't have a good enough dish to stand on its own, they shouldn't stay in the competition. At the same time, I'm mad at him because the only reason he was in that position was because he was stuck with two of the worst ingredients because he had the immunity. If he didn't have the immunity, he would have had better ingredients and a better dish than Emily's. I partially blame Padma. I think her constant nettling of him (well, I hope you do something better than slack off and not give me any food!) probably played some part in his decision. I think we've all seen contestants that have specifically used immunity to skate by, and its seen as something less than honorable. Immunity should be the opportunity to really make a dish that shines, not an excuse to make a shitty dish. And I think that Padma's comments last week and this week may have made him feel like he was one of those contestants that was using immunity as an excuse to make a shitty dish, or to not work as hard. Or at least that that was the rep he was getting. I just don't like John, he is one of those guys that will probably get far by taking as much advantage of people as possible. I think he took advantage of Emily's youth and probably her desire to try to get along since she is the crappiest chef. Getting her to break down all the lobster, and do his busy work so he could focus on his dish, IMO was taking advantage. Yes, Emily could have stopped him at any time...but how many times has that girl been fired for talking back? I'm guessing she is trying to just get along. And also, him planning the night before to give Jaime any crappy ingredients was also taking advantage. He is a talented chef, and this is Top Chef, so maybe he wins it all. Also sad to see Jim go :( Glad Sylva was able to pull it together.
