  1. I agree. 100%. I caught most the older shows-series (16 kids and up) on rerun before Josh-gate. Weren't most of them 30 min shows? And I guess because all of the kids were minors there were few TH - except JB & Mich. I really think "Counting On" would be better if it was 30 min. Another reason I like the Bates show - both just don't have enough going in their lives each week to fill up 60 min every episode. 'Counting On' can cut the asking of TH questions, if they go to 30 min. They don't know the answer to mainstream questions and even IF they got one right, wouldn't understand why, as they didn't have the life experience to match the answer. I'm still baffled on Ben's answer to "what is homecoming".. I guess in his mind every 2-3 games away, there should be a "homecoming event". Heaven forbid if an university (and I'm sure there are some) holds its homecoming festivities during basketball/soccer season. Ben would be looking for a parade every few days, for weeks on end. If the adult children don't start portraying themselves as adults and having something for viewers and advertisers to catch onto, they will eventually lose their 1st airing audience and be something that people catch on demand/next-day stream. We audience is getting older too - what was cute 10 years ago, isn't as cute now.. Why I watch you ask - it fills a time slot for me on Tuesday and Cake Boss/Quiencera followed (i.e. I was trying to get to the next show). But since Counting on moved to Monday, when MNF comes back, I will see - probably join in on the "dvr/next day" watching.
  2. Glenn is from a different era. He is probably used to most of his friend's children being married before having a child. Plus he might be thinking there is another mouth to feed and will never be able to fully retire, as Whit at age 32 is still in his wallet (ie cosigning the mortgage)
  3. Good point. there are plenty of hard working college kids pounding the street hoping for a chance to be an intern. And for those lucky enough to get a position, they are covering "everyday" semi-news items like a grocery store opening, high school games, and road closures. Why on earth would a reputable radio station give something as controversial as the Pride Parade to Whit? and why is a dance major wanting to be an intern at a radio station, in the first place? Dance moves can't be "seen" on the radio and its too hard to visualize dance moves. let Whit intern with the Abby Lee Miller (dance moms) equivalent in Greensboro.
  4. Is next week the last episode of the season? seems like a shorter season, this go around. Then there's a reunion show - if history repeats itself. One can only hope for a moderator that will ask the hard & pressing questions. wonder what tlc is going to put in the time slot - Cake Boss ?
  5. I too like the NYC episode. it was fresh and not seeing the same ole' cast of competitors and judges. I've watched just about every episode of this series and still can't figure out what is the criteria to judge the stand battles. They really should have a chorographer's challenge to every battle. What I really liked best about this episode was exposing the girls to all types of dance and getting them out of their comfort zone. They are going to age out of the "dollhouse" soon and if they plan to pursue dance in college and/or professionally, they need to be doing more than just majorette hip-hop. Look at Kayla and Sunjay - I think life after high school caught them by surprise. I like the little clips on how Sunjay was looking for a summer job, but how's life as a dance major ? And I would think the death-dropping and low-to-the-floor bucking would start to be extra wear on the body as they age into their 20s.
  6. still searching for Mr. Byrum.. On Ms. Cathy website she has a pix of the family minus her husband. Jill is wearing her signature orange shirt (link). her Instagram has pix of her new daughter-in-law and other pix of older men, one of which could be her hubby (link). I don't have an Instagram account so I may be limited in what I can/can't see.
  7. I thought tomato sauce was something you cook with - ie put it in something else.. not turn it up like a cocktail... And straight out of the can ???? are they on a camping trip ?? lose power for an extended period of time? I guess I've been watching too many shows were people are eating off of fine china or take out containers.. Damn... Why can't a tomato, in its natural state be a snack ? Izzy does (or should) have teeth . cut it into wedges and let him snack away.
  8. Drinking Tomato Sauce via a straw from the can ? Umm..
  9. speaking of cameramen - its good to see Mr. Jim, outside of the ultrasound office. I was wondering if he got RIF-ed from the original series.
  10. what happened to the sister(s) between Josie and Joy at the Jewelry making party ? Pistol Pete's face is a little scary for a toddler..I had to catch my breath the first time I saw the "mascot" appear, that close. That costume is better to look at from up in the football stands. Good to hear Ms. Cathy is doing better. She looks great. Best part of the episode - someone who was able to overcome a cancer illness. Shall we take bets on Izzy being allowed to go to OSU (or any other accredited 4 yr college)? I hope Derricks/Jill college aspirations will raise higher than becoming the mascot - meaning there is a bigger reason for attending college.
  11. Speaking of which... I didn't think it would be in the best professional sense to see all 3 of them in one "family" visit. Given it has been a while since they have been to a Dr, been out of the US for an extended period of time, and Derrick (and now Jill) have adult health concerns, I would have thought an annual adult physical would have required separate appointments. I know GenPrac MDs can do well-baby check-up, but I would have sought out a pediatrician. Were the Dillards trying to get a group rate on the appointment? Actually a couple of years ago, I tried to piggy back during my offspring eye Dr apt and was turned down.
  12. There was a RH reunion where Andy questioned the attire of two of wives, in relation to where they lived, the weather for the time of year and what they had on. One wife had a summer looking outfit and the other very winter looking. I know shows can film much earlier than the true/actual date event, esp. birthdays & anniversaries . Ever since that reunion episode, I pay closer attention to that detail. One of the natural beauties and a big tourist attraction of the North GA and Tennessee mountains is the fall foliage - the changing and color of the leaves. And the cooler temps, esp. in the morning. I need to re-watch the drive, picnic ,the 8:30 am train , and some of the picture taking scenes, but IIRC, it seemed pretty "green" and very few fallen leaves - like in mid sept at the latest. Its kinda a little hard to guess the true film date with the Bates in that they tend to dress conservatively with sleeves, jean skirts (which personally I always thought were very warm/heavy), vests, and pants all of the time.
  13. How come few to none of the women have regular every day 9-5 jobs? They seem to gear towards the entertainment industry. I'm not saying they have to be like Dr. Jen Arnold, MD on the Little Couple TLC show, but surely there has to be an occupation they could aspire towards. And yes, legally, depending upon the job physical accommodations have to be made. If its so hard to buy clothes to fit, why not at least be a seamstress, designer, or hell alter clothes at the local dry cleaners? When they were younger in school, and the teacher/counselor asked what do you want to be when you "grow up", what did they say? And do the twins really think the "twerk" is going to be around forever, before coming up with "modeling" ? What did they do before the twerk ?
  14. Could be. that long car ride , winding around mountains and hills, plus broken sleep pattern, could make anyone feel queasy.
  15. Kinda makes one wonder what the un-married Bates boys will bring to their new wives family. Sure its wonderful to have someone who can cut a large tree, but that's not something one needs done all of the time. I'll guess we'll find out in the upcoming weeks what can Bobby do extra for the family.
  16. Hats off to John and Alyssa for driving to and probably through the Chattanooga Lookout Mountains at night. That's a feat most wouldn't plan to do staying on Interstate 24/75/59, let alone venturing off the highway to find a cabin, that you have never been to, nestled in the mountains. The amazing grace singing-along... why can't they find a more joyous song? Given the occasion, a happy birthday family rendition would haven been better. Or since they were in a WWII bunker/ammo house, how about the national anthem - which should be up Lawson's ally. Gil surprised my expectations on the new wedding band. I figured he would have produced just a plain gold band. He did good, probably with a little help from UPN. small cake for upwards 30 people.. I know the kids would probably just want ice cream or a small piece, but Gill (and probably those other boys/men) had a huge hunk. Did I hear right ? Alyssa agreed the anyone could come before baby #2 arrival? Last time I think she only said Gil & Kelly.
  17. If I searched correctly, southwest doesn't fly into Laredo (link) . Southwest does fly from/to Little Rock, Arkansas , which I think is a ways from the Duggars..hmmm One of the scrolling pictures matches what we saw of the Laredo terminal (link) Children under 2 have to pay now to fly ? If not, it is nice of Southwest to let them check 2 free bags. :)
  18. Has there been an episode, or side discussion, where Whit considers lap band surgery? Or is there a medical reason why a person with PCOS can't have one ?
  19. Well said ClareWalks. re: "HCG blood draw" I don't understand why any of Whit's DRs (OB, Internist, General Fam Prac, etc), for not making "room" in the schedule to see her immediately - they have a patient who has not had a cycle in over a year, practicing iffy birth control , had unprotected sex, has nausea and a positive urine test. In all of Greensboro she can't find a DR or facility to call in the blood work order ? I'm beginning to think the choice of DRs on some of these tlc shows, borders on lack of persistence of getting to the root of a medical problem.
  20. anyone notice that tlc seems to love to film people vomiting lately? Or am I just now noticing ? First it was the babies on Outdaughtered, Monday it was Derrick on Counting On and now Whit.
  21. Just caught a mini-marathon.. Whit was Lenny's booty call ? They aren't dating but he comes by, now and then, and they've had sex 3 times. Even when she called Lenny, to tell him the pregnancy news - she thought he would think the visit was for "sex". I missed a few shows last season - who broke it off with who and why? To be anyone's booty call in this day and age, having unprotected sex is dangerous. Getting preggy is the LEAST of your worries. I vote yes, to the false positive poll. I guess she didn't think to buy different brands of pregnancy tests, to make the home results a little more conclusive. someone in her condition has to wait a week to get an appointment with the OB's office ? She should have Drs on speed dial. I would think by now an urgent care ctr could run a blood pregnancy test.
  22. Forgive saying this and I hope I don't offend, as I've been holding this in for a couple of years now. I know we parents have to let our adult children make choices and run their lives. But if MY offspring would quit a good paying job w/ insurance, when you have a pre-existing medical condition(s) especially, if they have spouse/children, after getting a college degree that you earned on scholarship AND didn't have a clear/sensible financial plan (outlook), I would beat their A**. Derrick needs to reacquaint himself with HIS side of the family - his father passed at early age and I think was a sheriff. Why can't Derrick honor his memory, by honoring his work ethic (link)? I don't care if he was the least-seniority-how-many-grapes-in-bag tax accountant at Walmart, there is no reason he needed to resign to go to CA. Use your two weeks of vacation, help the people, and come back to reality. TLC needs to add a viewer disclaimer or blurred-bubble to "vomit" scenes , as they seem to like to show people vomiting. just finished watching a season of another tlc series with babies who vomit. we viewer really don't need to see the "output", esp. from a grown man.
  23. He definitely had that bubble when the crowd showed up with all that luggage at baggage claim. Quote " He as never seen so many bags for one group before".. He said "really" at least twice. What's sad , they had to re-check all of those bags (I don't think none of them were carry-on size) when traveling back home.
  24. What is this "artwork" supposed to be or represent ? And I guess mandatory usage of 3M command strips weren't part of the lease..
  25. why did they take out the curly light bulbs and replace with the regular ones? I thought the curly ones were more efficient ?
